Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 1633: Worthy of Respect
Venia raised her hand slightly.
The dreamscape around them rippled, and a new scene slowly formed within it.
Images from Endi’s memory appeared one after another... the broken citadel, the ruined hall, the human, and the gray cat.
As the princess’s gaze settled on the little cat, she asked in a calm voice, "Is that him?"
"Yes, your highness." Endi nodded respectfully.
He hesitated for a brief moment before adding, "The human has named the prince... Valerian."
Venia did not react.
It was unknown what she truly thought of the name, or if she even thought at all about the act that a human had given a name to someone of royal blood from the Somnia Clan.
She continued to watch Endi’s memory unfold in silence.
The dilapidated hall appeared before her. She saw the human youth step forward and challenge Zagho to a duel, despite the obvious difference in power between them.
What followed was brutal.
Again and again, the boy was struck down. His body was thrown across the broken stone floor, his bones cracking under blows he had no real way of resisting.
The gap between them was clear from the very beginning.
Yet each time the boy fell... he stood back up.
Bleeding, broken, barely able to remain on his feet. He rose again and again to face his opponent.
Zagho beat him down repeatedly. Still, the human refused to stay down.
Throughout the memory, Venia watched without the slightest change in her expression. Her topaz eyes remained calm and indifferent, as if she were observing nothing more than an ordinary event.
That was until the moment Adam spoke.
"The pursuit of the peak of magic brings me far greater joy than any spell ever could..."
When his words echoed through the dreamscape, something in them resonated with Venia.
For the first time since the memory began, a faint shift appeared in the princess’s otherwise unreadable gaze.
Without saying anything, she continued watching the memory.
She saw the moment Zagho finally yielded. The duel ended, and the human collapsed onto the broken stone floor, his body pushed far beyond its limits.
The scene shifted.
She watched as Endi approached Valerian and carefully examined him. He checked the young prince’s physical condition and the stability of his mental foundation.
He made sure that none of the prince’s blood had been taken and that nothing about his body or spirit had been tampered with.
More importantly, he also left a special amulet with the young dragon.
Venia was secretly relieved.
From what she could see, her youngest brother’s condition was far better than what she had expected. His body was stable, and his spiritual foundations were strong... stronger, in fact, than they should have been for someone who had grown up in the lower realms.
Her eyes flickered briefly when she saw Adam’s blood and its strange behavior, how it moved on its own and returned to its source.
For the second time, a trace of emotion passed through her gaze. But it was gone as quickly as it appeared.
Apart from those two instances, she remained indifferent. She watched everything without comment until the final scene faded.
The broken citadel vanished. And the dreamscape once again returned to its quiet silence.
Venia shifted her gaze to the sea of clouds as she replayed the scene in her mind. She remained still and quiet.
After several moments, she finally spoke.
"Severing the familiar bond will be nigh impossible," she murmured, her tone carrying a strange certainty.
Endi gulped, then said with a nod, "The young prince seems to love and deeply care for the human."
He paused briefly, then added. "And the same holds true for the boy. He has raised the young prince with great love and care, your highness. The bond they share is not just magical, it’s... genuine."
Princess Venia remained silent, her thoughts a mystery.
And Endi didn’t dare speak unless spoken to.
"And what of the devils?" she said at last. "The human seems oddly confident in dealing with them."
Endi lowered his head slightly before answering.
"I’m not certain, Your Highness," he said. "The boy... he appears to be full of secrets."
He paused for a few moments before cautiously saying, "He has, however, found a way to reach the Greater Universe. So we can be certain that Prince Valerian will be within our reach again in the near future."
Silence ensued.
Endi thought for a long while before suggesting in a low voice, "Might I say something, Princess?"
Venia turned slightly, her piercing topaz eyes staring at him.
Endi’s frame trembled involuntarily, but he knew he had received permission. He inhaled deeply, then said:
"If we are to take the prince back to our clan, it cannot be done by force. That boy, Adam... he would rather die than let anyone take the young prince away from him."
The dragon hesitated before continuing.
"We must make the boy see reason. He needs to realize for himself that the prince is better off with his clan than with him."
Princess Venia turned back around. A moment later, her cold voice echoed in the air.
"I agree."
Endi subconsciously heaved a sigh of relief. Truth be told, he had a favorable view of Adam and did not wish to see him suffer needlessly.
In his mind, the human deserved to be treated with respect. The care and devotion he had shown while raising Valerian were impossible to ignore. In fact, that was something the clan should be grateful for.
Regardless of the fact that he was a mere human, Adam had proven himself worthy of respect, if only for the way he pursued the path of magic with such unwavering resolve and dedication.
But what the princess said next made his heart sink...
Princess Venia stood quietly for a moment before speaking.
"That is why," she said calmly. "I shall go personally to retrieve my little brother when he sets foot in the Greater Universe."
Her words carried authority, leaving no room for any discussion.
The moment she finished speaking, the dreamscape began to crack. The green plains, the blue sky, and the sea of clouds shattered like glass, breaking apart into countless fragments.
In an instant, everything disappeared.
Endi found himself back in the dark pit, kneeling on the stone platform exactly where he had been before.
A drop of cold sweat trickled down the side of his forehead as he realized the weight of the princess’s words.
The gigantic topaz eyes glowing in the darkness before him slowly closed.
Then a thunderous voice echoed through the pit.
"Leave."
