Chapter 649: Need For Secrecy

Ambermind Manor, Uptown Quarter.

The following day, all the Agents of the Brotherhood in Ravenfell secretly rendezvoused at Daneli's house after sunset. Apart from them, the patriarch of the Flynn Family was also present.

Naturally, other than Daneli, everyone had arrived at the manor through the secret tunnel that led to his personal library.

Under the warm glow of the crystal chandelier, Adam, Daneli, Liriel, Kael, Elrick, and Brigham stood around a large mahogany table and were about to go over the plan that they would be enacting the following day.

"Magus Constantine," Brigham greeted Adam with a warm smile. "It has been a while since I've last seen you. You seem to have grown a little taller since then."

Adam placed his hand over his chest and slightly bowed. "Good evening, Lord Flynn. Has Elysande still not returned yet?"

Brigham shook his head. "She's gone to Acryon for some family business, you see. We are currently in the midst of procuring a large shipment of raw materials from the Capital, so I've sent her to oversee the transaction. But she should return to Ravenfell within next week."

"I see." Adam nodded lightly. His lips curled up into a smirk as he added, "Looks like she won't be in for the fun we'll be having tomorrow then."

Brigham simply chuckled in response. In truth, he was glad that they were finally taking down the criminal enterprise that had been lording over the Corvid Quarter for the last several years.

To be precise, he was not exactly glad that the Red Fists were being taken down, but about the outcome that this would lead to. Once this organization's crimes were brought to light, his standing within the council would significantly be elevated.

After all, he had warned the other councilors about the Red Fists on several occasions but was ignored almost every time.

Once the Red Fists are dealt with, I'll have much more power and influence in dealing with the Umbra Thieves after, Brigham thought to himself, a vicious glint flashing in his eyes.

Kissinger knows my most closely guarded secret. I must deal with him and the organization behind him at once! That secret must never come to light!

At that moment, his eyes involuntarily darted toward Adam. Coincidentally, the youth was also staring at him. As their gazes met, they both smiled at one another.

"After the Red Fists, once the Umbra Thieves are dealt with, we can finally have some peace, eh, laddie?" Brigham smiled.

Adam deeply looked into the old man's turbid eyes and smiled back. "Indeed."

"Alright, gentlemen," Liriel called out. "Now if you would, please direct your attention to this map here." She pointed at the detailed map of the Uptown Quarter, circling out a few areas.

"This right here is Viscount Duskfall's estate," she said while pointing at the large circle. Then, she pointed at the several marked lines around the Corvid Quarter, the Harbor Quarter, and the Uptown Quarter.

"These lines indicate the secret pathways that the Red Fists have taken to traffick humans to the Duskfall Estate," she began. "As you can see, their transport begins in the Corvid Quarter, from where they are taken down the Dell River to the Dundee Harbor.

"According to our Acolytes, the women are then loaded onto ships and sailed to the Harbor Quarter. Upon arrival, they disembark and are escorted through these tunnels to their final destination-the Duskfall Estate in the Uptown Quarter."

"I must say, I am quite impressed," Brigham spoke with utmost approval. "With only a few dozen men, you were able to uncover this organization's ploy."

His expression then turned a little rueful and he added, "I'm quite ashamed that I'll end up taking credit for all the trouble you and your people have had to go through for this."

"This is what we do, Lord Flynn," Daneli stated matter-of-factly. "We work in the shadows so that the people of Tron may live peacefully in the light."

For a moment, Brigham felt as if these young Magi around him truly were concealed in shadows. Yet there was a halo of divine light surrounding them, protecting them from the dangers lurking in the dark.

Despite being a powerful Mana Vortex Magus himself, Brigham suddenly felt like he was far inferior to them.

"While Adam, Liriel, and I infiltrate Viscount Duskfall's masquerade ball, Kael and Elrick will lead a small group of Acolytes and go to the Harbor Quarter and catch Red Fists red-handed," Daneli added.

He looked at Kael and Elrick and stated, "Those fools will have just handed over the women to the Magi working for the Duskfall Family and will be sure to have their guards down. That is when you come in."

Kael simply nodded in response, while Elrick showed a thumbs-up. "Sounds good to me," he said.

"And you, Lord Flynn," Daneli then looked at Brigham and continued. "You will take half of your family's Magi to the Corvid Quarter and attack the Red Fists' main base. While the other half of your men will head straight to the Duskfall Estate and, well, as you said, take the credit."

"How will I know when to make a move?" Asked the Flynn Patriarch.

"You'll know it when you see it," Daneli answered. "Just make sure to pay attention to what's happening in the general direction of the Duskfall Estate."

"...I see." Brigham nodded awkwardly. He then suddenly thought of something that had been on his mind and asked, "What is the reason the Duskfall Family is gathering so many helpless and innocent women? What could they be planning? Is it possibly related to the cult your organization is after?"

Before Daneli could reply, Liriel immediately responded with a polite smile, "Lord Flynn, everything will be known to you after we've dealt with the Duskfall Family tomorrow. I hope you can understand the need for our secrecy."

"One more thing, my lord," Daneli suddenly spoke up. "Would it be possible for you to perhaps have one of the other councilors present at the scene? That would have a much

desirable impact on our grand plan."

Brigham hesitated for a few moments. The councilors of Ravenfell were all busy people. Even if a few of them were his friends, it would be slightly difficult for him to summon them on

such short notice.

Besides, he didn't even know if the councilors on friendly terms with him were even in the city at the moment. He thought to himself in uncertainty, Perhaps Hammon would heed my call if I

informed him beforehand. But what if he doesn't? Who else can I call?

Just as he was thinking of how to respond, Adam suddenly stepped forward.

"No need. I've already taken care of that," he said confidently.

Everyone turned to look at him in surprise. Daneli asked with a dubious look on his face,

"You... what have you done now?"

"Not much," Adam replied with a smirk. "Just that Councilor Nylian Feno's daughter will be accompanying me to the ball."
