Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 691: Horrifying Vision
Chapter 691: Horrifying Vision
An aura so strong and terrifying descended in the room, that for a moment everyone's breathing came to a halt.
The one affected most by it was none other than Brigham Flynn—the one who the oppressive aura was directed towards.
A drop of cold sweat trickled down the old man's forehead and he couldn't help but wonder in shock, Is this the aura of a Rank 2 Magus?
Impossible!
He got to his feet, albeit with slight difficulty, turned around and directly faced Adam. Despite standing, he still couldn't match the youth's height, and in the end, had to look up to him.
"What is the meaning of this, Adam?" He asked flatly. "I'll have you know that this is a highly punishable offence! Or have you forgotten? That I am still a Councilor of Ravenfell!"
"I know exactly who you are." Adam's eyes narrowed. "And if you value your position, or you life for that matter, you will choose your next words very carefully."
"Is that a threat?" Brigham's eyes spewed extreme hostility.

Suddenly, he saw a black light flash. Blood splattered all around. The next thing he knew, his head had rolled to the ground.
"You tell me," Adam asked with a smirk.
Brigham found himself standing in a daze, his back completely drenched in sweat. He involuntarily reached out for his neck, where he had supposedly been decapitated.
What was that?! He thought in alarm, fear seeping into his bones.
An Illusion? No! He didn't cast any spell… That… that was my intuition!
His killing intent was so strong that it resulted in that horrifying vision? Just… what the hell is he?!
On the other side, Daneli's eyes narrowed when he saw Brigham Flynn's hand start to tremble.
What the hell just happened? He thought in confusion.
No, I need to diffuse the situation!
He got up to his feet, displaying his usual polite smile, "Gentlemen! Gentlemen! No need for us to go that far. We're all friends here, are we not?"
He walked toward Adam and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Come sit, Brother. I'll explain everything to you. Rest assured, Lord Flynn here is quite apologetic for his behavior."
Adam snorted in displeasure, "I don't hear him apologizing."
With that said, he walked around the long leather couch and went and sat at the single-seater high-back chair. His legs spread wide, he conjured another gourd of wine from his earrings and began drinking like a typical ruffian.
While the Agents of the Brotherhood had an indifferent expression on their faces, the same couldn't be said about the Acolytes standing behind them.
The young Magi of the Brotherhood constantly stole glances from Adam, looking at him with awe and reverence.
A young Rank 2 Magus standing up to a Rank 3 Magus and even looking down on him? Just where else would one find such a spectacle!
Seeing that Brigham Flynn didn't seem to be doing so well, Daneli couldn't help but complain inwardly, Just what the hell did that ugly bastard do now? Sigh, I always have to clean up after his mess.
"Lord Flynn, please sit down." He politely gestured to the old man. He then asked, seemingly out of concern, "My Lord, you don't look so well. Would you like a glass of water?"
Brigham snapped out of his terror-inducing daze. He looked at Daneli, and then at all the Agents of the Brotherhood who were glancing at him with slight ridicule in their eyes—even the Rank 1 Magi!
Finally, his gaze shifted to Adam, who was sitting on the other side. Brigham couldn't help but grit his teeth and inwardly curse the youth for embarrassing him in front of so many people.
But right at that moment, he heard Adam speak coldly, "Lord Flynn, what is that look in your eyes?"
Brigham didn't reply. He silently stared at the youth for a few moments before looking away. However, Adam's next words caused him to look back at him again.
"Did you forget? That it was I who cured you when the assassins from the Umbra Thieves came after you?"
Brigham remained silent, unable to refute the youth's words.
"Without me, you would have died a dog's death," Adam coldly added. "You owe me your life. Yet, you betrayed me and my allies. Explain yourself."
Brigham deeply looked at Adam. Then, he heaved a long sigh. "I had no other option."
"You always have a fucking option!" Adam spat through gritted teeth. "If things had gone even slightly awry, I would have died. My allies would have died!"
Adam was burning with fury. "So if you don't give me an explanation, I will fucking kill you!"
Forget Brigham, even Daneli was shocked by Adam's sudden eruption. For as long as he could remember, he had never seen his friend this angry before.
However, he could understand where Adam was coming from. It was indeed as he mentioned - if things had deviated even a little, all of them would have died.
Brigham hung his head low. After a long time, he spoke up, "They threatened me with my daughter."
Everyone in the room was slightly taken aback. Even Adam couldn't help but have his furious eyes ripple with emotion.
Brigham then conjured the letter he received two nights ago and handed it to Daneli. "An undead skeleton gave that to me."
Daneli opened the letter and read its contents with a deep frown. He then passed it on to Adam. When the youth read it, his heart churned with complicated emotions. After reading, he passed it on to Kael.
As everyone read the letter, Brigham explained, "They warned me that if I or any of my men were to leave the house before sunrise, they would kill my daughter.
"At dawn, I immediately rushed to Acryon. Fortunately, Elysande was unharmed. But it was only then that I realised that the threat to her life was a bluff.
"But I could not risk it! Elysande is my most cherished child and my successor. She is to become the next head of the family, so how could I risk her life?"
Adam began massaging his temple. He didn't know how to respond. If he were in Brigham's shoe, would he have acted any differently?
In the end, he couldn't help but helplessly sigh. "Still, that doesn't change the fact that you betrayed us."
"What do you want me to do?" Brigham angrily said. "Turn back time?!"
Adam's face darkened. But right at that moment, Daneli chimed in, "My lord, your words of aplogies will come across as shallow, not just to us but also the organization behind us."
His eyes sparkled with a craftly light and he added, "However, there is another way to show your sincerity."
