Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 736: Armed Forces Arrive
After sinking the last of the tall-masted ships, Valerian was in a very happy mood, his expression filled with pride.
Heh, as expected of me, the Great Valerian!
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed and he felt an impending sense of danger. Trusting his draconic instincts, he retreated his wings back inside his shoulder blades and rolled mid-air.
As soon as he did, several poison-coated daggers brushed past his feline body, missing him by a hair's breadth.
Valerian's heart was gripped by panic and he hurriedly looked in the direction of the port—where the daggers were thrown from.
There, he saw five Magi dressed in black robes, radiating mana signatures far stronger than him.
"Oh no!" He blurted out in horror when he saw them throw a dozen more daggers towards him.
He was falling in mid-air and had already retracted his wings inside his body. The daggers were aimed with such accuracy that they were sure to pierce him as he fell from the skies.
His vertical pupils constricted and he willed it in his mind to transform once again. At a speed visible to the naked eye, his large body started to shrink at a rapid pace until he'd transformed into the size of a regular cat.
Thanks to the speed of his transformation, the dozen or so daggers once again ended up missing the target.
As Valerian fell from the skies and into the sea, he willed it in his mind once again as he tightly closed his eyes.
Then, a small pair of feathered wings protruded from his back!
He spread his wings wide and glided in the direction of The Cage. His heart was gripped by immense nervousness and fear as tears started to well up in his topaz eyes.
From an enormous flying panther to a small flying cat!
Valerian flapped his wings as fast as he could. There was no way he would be a match for five Rank 2 - Mana Liquesfaction Magi.
At that point, there was only one technique he could rely on. It was his trump card.
He sent a mental transmission, inwardly screaming in a voice full of emotions.
'BROTHER, SAVE ME!!!'
Meanwhile, the five Magi from the Umbra Thieves who had been attacking Valerian from the ground, suddenly found themselves unable to believe their eyes.
They had never seen a magical beast go through a transformation so quickly. From a panther to a cat, it took Valerian less than a second to transform.
To these Magi, such a feat was unheard of.
But little did they know, Valerian belonged to a race of magical beasts that were divinely gifted in the magic from the School of Alteration.
It was something they were born with and naturally had immense talent for.
"Follow the cat!" One of the Magi from the thieves' guild snapped out of his daze. "It will lead us to the perpetrator responsible for all this mess!"
Then, the five Magi started to chase after Valerian with ruthless determination.
…
Minutes later, the three leaders of the Umbra Thieves arrived at the Darkfang Docks. When they looked at the fire and destruction around them, they felt immense anger bubbling in their hearts.
Furthermore, seeing the few corpses strewn around on the streets as a result of the intense battles taking place between the people sitting on the loose council and the people aiming for their seats, they felt even more furious.
Barnabas, unable to contain the wrath overflowing in his heart, took a deep breath and roared, "You mindless cunts! Stop fighting!"
His boisterous voice echoed through every corner of the dockside, immediately halting the chaotic battles that were unfolding.
"All of you are being manipulated," Barnabas continued, his tone filled with rage. "Made to fight amongst each other when the enemy is at our doorstep!"
The Magi looked at each other, anger and hatred still visible in their eyes, but none of them dared to continue fighting in the presence of the three overlords of Blackshore.
"All of youse!" Barnabas screamed at the top of his lungs, pointing in the direction of the sea. "Prepare for battle!!"
The moment he'd said that, two enormous tall-masted ships suddenly became visible. It would appear that the ships had used high-level concealment spells because they were already within firing range!
Moreover, the sails of these ships had the insignia of a raven spreading its wings on it.
The armed forces of Ravenfell had arrived!!!
However, that was not all…
Another ship slowly came into view, its concealment spell gradually being lifted. However, unlike the previous two ships, this one didn't drift on the surface of the water.
Instead, it soared in the sky!!
Standing on the deck of the flying ship, Nylian Feno, the Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magus, and one of the seven councilors of Ravenfell, pointed his finger at the city below.
His eyes were cold and his words dripped with murderous intent.
"Fire."
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
All three ships—two in the water and one in the air—started bombing the city with its cannons. However, unlike regular cannons, the projectiles these ships were firing were, in fact, enhanced Magic Missiles.
At once, the coastline of Blackshore was enveloped in a rain of Magic Missiles, covering this part of city with unparalled fire power, blanketing it in flames.
…
Meanwhile, Valerian sped through the narrow streets of the Floating Marketplace. Sometimes, he would run on the ground, other times he would soar over the buildings.

The five Magi from the Umbra Thieves were still in pursuit, throwing not just daggers but all sorts of magical spell projectiles at him.
However, thanks to his nimble cat-like movements and the obstacles provided by the urban landscape, he was able to dodge every last one of their attacks—albeit, only barely.
Finally, after what felt like forever, The Cage finally came into view. Valerian's eyes lit up and he hastened his speed and within a few moments, he had bolted through the entrance of the building.
The Magi of the Umbra Thieves suddenly stopped at the entrance of The Cage. They gazed at one another in confusion.
"Isn't this… Silver Vess' domain?"
"Why did that beast come here?"
"Could it be…"
"Silver Vess is in cahoots with the enemy!"
The second they arrived at this conclusion, their hearts were gripped by anger. Then, they entered the building, continuing their pursuit.
Moments after the five had entered the building, a dark-robed Magus with pale skin and cold eyes emerged from a nearby alley. He had been secretly following Valerian as well, hoping the cat would lead him to his target.
This Magus was none other than a Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magus from the Cult of Bones!
"I see," he said, his lips forming a cold smirk. "So that's where you've been hiding."
