Adam's expression sank. For a moment, he truly thought that he was going to receive all the answers from the Joker.

But in hindsight, he felt that he was being quite naive.

Firstly, nothing so valuable could ever be received without paying an equivalent price.

Secondly, considering the Joker's sadistic nature, the price was going to be steep. Very steep.

Seeing the awkward expression on the raven-haired youth's face, the Joker was unable to contain his laughter.

"Fafafa! Silly lad, did you think I would tell you the answers to all the questions you ask just like that? Fafafa, stupid, so stupid. It would appear that only your physique has grown, but your brain remains underdeveloped."

Hearing the blatant mockery in the man's voice, Adam's lips twitched. But he did not take offense. He knew that the Joker did not mean that. It was just how he was.

However, he also knew that a jester's joke is never just a joke. There was always a truth tucked inside the laughter.

Adam heaved a long sigh. "You're right, that was indeed stupid of me." He turned towards the Joker and asked, "So what will it take to study those valuable secrets?"

The Joker abruptly stopped laughing, then turned to the raven-haired youth with slight surprise. "Perhaps, you're really not that stupid, after all."

He then stroked his chin, his expression twisting in slight displeasure. "No, no, this won't do. It was fun to tease you when you were a child. Now, you're just boring. Too boring!"

Is this guy being serious? Adam's lips twitched incessantly.

But he knew of a way to keep the conversation interesting and direct the eccentric Joker into giving him tests so he could learn what he came here for.

"Oh, by the way, Sir Joker," he began. "I noticed several creatures with strength equivalent to the Mana Liquefaction Rank on my way here. I thought this secret plane only contained weak creatures no stronger than the Mana Foundation Rank…"

"Weak creatures no stronger than the Mana Foundation Rank? Hmph!" The Joker snorted in displeasure.

He raised his chin and spoke in a haughty manner, "Foolish lad, who do you think created this secret plane? My great master, Mathias the Free!

"Do you think a powerful Magus like him would only contain weak insects inside his secret plane? Hah! Truly naive!"

"Hmm, true, true." Adam stroked his beard while nodding from time to time. "A Magus as powerful as him would surely keep strong creatures within this plane. I'm guessing Mana Liquefaction Magus is not the strongest here either."

"Of course, not!" The Joker crossed his arms, strongly defending his master. "There are far more powerful creatures in the secret plane.

"The reason you fledglings face off against Rank 1 creatures when the plane opens is only because I allow it. The vast majority of the secret plane, as well as its inhabitants, are sealed off by me.

"The participants are restricted to only a small portion of the plane. The rest is out of bounds for them for their own safety."

Adam's eyes flashed with understanding, and he thought, Yes, that is about the same conclusion I arrived at.

No wonder I happened to come across those Rank 2 hobgoblins. If my guess is correct, then there should be creatures even stronger than the Mana Vortex Rank!

He turned to the Joker and asked curiously, "Are there creatures here that have strength equivalent to the Mana Core Rank?"

The Joker's lips curled into a taunting smirk. "Now, wouldn't you like to know that?"

"Is there?" Adam pressed, his eyes flashing with an inquisitive light.

"Heh." The Joker shrugged. "Who knows?"

Adam pursed his lips. He then asked, "You once told me that the Soaring River Secret Plane is the greatest arcane legacy in Tron…."

His voice trailed off into a whisper. He paused for a moment before adding, "I am certain that you aren't lying, and I believe it in my heart that Magus Mathias was truly a very powerful Magus."

"But?" The Joker's eyes narrowed.

Adam thought of the right words to say. "If it is truly so valuable, then how is it that other powerful Magi across Tron haven't found out about it?"

This was something that genuniely bothered him. If this secret plane was truly as valuable as he thought it to be, then why was it that it wasn't that renowned?

Forget the entirety of Tron, even the Magi of the Acadian Empire didn't know of it. No, to be more precise, they didn't care for it!

"Huh?" The Joker was momentarily taken aback before he burst into a loud peal of laughter. "Fafafafa!"

He laughed for a long time, causing Adam to feel awkward. "What? Did I say something funny?"

"No, you said something stupid!" The Joker viciously mocked the youth. "You yourself said that my master was a very powerful Magus, and then you ask such a silly question. Fafafa, underdeveloped! The brain is too underdeveloped!"

Adam suddenly had the urge to cast Fireball at this clown. He forced a smile and asked, "Would you care to explain?"

The Joker straightened his back, pretending to be a wisened old sage. He began to stroke his non-existent long beard and spoke in a deep and gruff voice, "Young lad, spells from the School of Enchantment affect the minds of others, influencing or controlling their behavior."

Adam's eyes widened when he heard that reasoning. In that moment, he was reminded of Hannes City and Blackshore.

Wait a minute, he thought in shock.

Didn't the Cult Leader use an enchantment spell to alter the perceptions of people in both these places?!

He made people believe something entirely different while the truth was right before them, staring them in the face!

So this is the reason why other powerful Magi haven't found this secret plane?

Or rather… they did find this secret plane, but thought that it wasn't worth their time!

When in reality, this was the most valuable secret plane on this whole planet!

"You seem to have understood the gist of it, young lad," said the Joker in his fake, wisened voice.

He walked around Adam, continuing to stroke his invisible long beard. "The reason why other powerful Magi on this planet haven't found out about this is because my Master has placed several strong enchantments across the spatial barrier of this secret plane.

"This powerful magic ensures that the great powerhouses of this world view this secret plane as nothing special. My master left behind his legacy for the young children who have just stepped foot on the arcane path, not frail old men in their twilight years."

Realization finally dawned on Adam, and he couldn't help but sincerely praise. "Ingenious! So this is why only Rank 1 Magi are allowed to enter this plane. I see, it all makes sense now."

"Indeed." The Joker nodded.

A few moments later, he heaved a sigh, "Alright, lad, I'm bored now. Since you woke me up from my slumber, it's only right that you entertain me."

Adam was taken aback. "Entertainment?"

He was once again reminded of the sadistic nature of this person who took joy in others' misery. He couldn't help but retreat a few steps, "Wait, wait, wait, Sir Joker! Let's talk this out—"

But the words got caught in his throat when the Joker appeared behind him like a phantom and grabbed his collar.

He turned to the frightened youth and revealed an ominous grin, "You said you wanted to learn the method to leave Tron? Well, lad, that is quite the valuable piece of knowledge."

The following moment, the space around them distorted and enveloped them, teleporting them out of the House of Cards.

A powerful gust of wind swept through, and before Adam knew it, he was levitating above the sea of clouds and rivers!

The youth's heart was gripped by fear as he didn't know what the crazy bastard would do to him now.

His heart skipped a beat when he saw the Joker summon a large rubber hammer out of nowhere and viciously swing it at him.

"Every piece of true knowledge demands its price!" Said the Joker with a wide grin.

Then the massive hammer struck Adam, sending him hurling towards the ground.

BAM!!

As he plummeted from the sky, the Joker's amused voice echoed in his ears, laced with mocking delight.

"Want to leave Tron? Heh, let's see if you can leave this plane first!"
