Chapter 48: Chapter 48: War Conscription Order

’A significant contribution?’

Li Wei thought for a moment. He guessed it was probably for rescuing Gu Ze and the other two.

The Mage Tower had already lost one Apprentice Mage on that mission.

If they had lost three more, it would have been a devastating blow.

Putting away his Magic Badge, Li Wei smiled.

"I’m one step closer to buying a Tier One Magic."

The Basic Meditation Method could no longer be leveled up, but Li Wei didn’t give up on his Cultivation.

Even though he couldn’t raise its Level, the Basic Meditation Method could still increase his maximum Mana.

With his Spiritual Power enhanced, his daily Cultivation time also extended to six hours.

’Six hours of cultivation a day isn’t quite enough time! If only I could cultivate while I sleep.’

Meditative cultivation couldn’t replace sleep. On the contrary, it consumed Spiritual Power, and only by sleeping could one recover it.

For a Mage, sleep was essential.

Li Wei shortened his daily Cultivation time to three hours, using the rest of his time to practice Magic, striving to grind his Small Fireball Technique to the Great Success Level as soon as possible. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Two days later, Li Wei, who was engrossed in his Cultivation, received an urgent notification from the Magic Butler.

His Cultivation plan interrupted, Li Wei went to the third floor of the Mage Tower.

A number of Apprentice Mages had already gathered there.

Li Wei glanced at Rota, whose dark circles were getting even heavier, and was surprised.

’No wonder I couldn’t enter Rota’s dreams these past two days. He hasn’t been sleeping at all.’

Rota’s face looked exhausted, but his eyes were exceptionally bright, and his spirit was high.

Standing in the crowd, Li Wei could feel that Rota was lost in thought, mentally deducing a new Magic Model.

He walked over to Gu Ze and asked in a low voice, "Teacher Gu Ze, why were we all summoned?"

Gu Ze said, "The war between the Macher Kingdom and the Beastmen has been going on for over half a month. I hear the situation on the front lines has been grim lately, and the Macher Kingdom has issued a war conscription order to all the Extraordinary Influences within its borders."

"The various powers in Maple City are responding to the conscription order. They need to send a certain number of Extraordinary Professionals to aid in the war effort."

"The Mage Tower also has to send a number of Mages to the front lines to assist in combat. We just don’t know how many people they’ll be sending yet."

Gu Ze glanced at Li Wei and said, "I’m definitely going this time. I’m about to break through to become a Tier One Mage, so I have to take this opportunity to earn more Contribution and accumulate some Cultivation resources."

"As for you, there’s no need to rush. You still have some time before your breakthrough, so just stay here in the Mage Tower and focus on your Cultivation."

Hearing this, Li Wei nodded but said nothing.

’I’m not far from breaking through to Tier One Mage either. I should also take this opportunity to rack up some Contribution.’

If nothing else, just the amount of Contribution required to learn a Tier One Magic was already giving Li Wei a headache.

He had a greater advantage than others; he only needed to read a Magic Book once to memorize the Magic Model.

Even so, he felt that learning Magic was a huge expense.

’I really don’t know how other people manage to save up so much Contribution.’

Spending months or even years to save up Contribution just to learn a single Magic was unacceptable to Li Wei.

It was too slow.

Li Wei looked ahead as several Official Mages walked out from the grand golden doors of the hall.

Leading them was a Mage in a yellow Mage Robe, with Mage El following behind him.

Next to Mage El was a female Mage in a blue robe.

Gu Ze whispered, "The one at the front is Mage Martin, a Tier Three Earth Mage."

"The one next to Mage El is Marina Mage, a Tier Two Water Mage."

The Tier One Mages were all standing in the crowd, mixed in with the Apprentice Mages.

Li Wei glanced at the two of them a few times, committing their faces to memory.

Martin scanned the crowd and began to speak. "The Mage Tower has just received a war conscription order from the Macher Kingdom. As a part of the Macher Kingdom, we ought to contribute our Power when the Kingdom is in crisis."

"After communicating with the Mage Association, the Mage Tower will be sending one Tier Three Mage, two Tier Two Mages, six Tier One Mages, and fifteen Apprentice Mages to answer the Kingdom’s call."

"The Tier Three and Tier Two Mages have already been selected. Myself, Mage Allen, and Marina Mage will represent the Mage Tower. For the remaining six Tier One Mage and fifteen Apprentice Mage slots, you may volunteer. If there are not enough volunteers, the Magic Butler will designate suitable personnel."

At these words, the crowd began to murmur amongst themselves.

Soon, people started raising their hands to sign up.

In no time, all six Tier One Mage slots were filled.

Half of the fifteen Apprentice Mage slots were also taken, with Gu Ze and Rota among them.

Li Wei looked around, then raised his hand.

Martin looked at him, his brow furrowing slightly. ’How did a young brat like this get in here?’

Li Wei looked so young that Martin even suspected a Mage Apprentice had snuck in.

However, to be able to enter the third floor of the Mage Tower, Li Wei’s identity must be legitimate.

Martin looked at him and said, "What’s your name?"

Li Wei quickly replied, "Li Wei."

Hearing this, Gu Ze looked over and saw Li Wei’s raised hand with a look of astonishment.

Seeing this, El leaned in and whispered a few words in Martin’s ear, likely informing him of Li Wei’s situation.

Martin nodded, glanced at him, and said, "You don’t need to go. Stay here in the Mage Tower and focus on your Cultivation."

Li Wei’s talent was astounding; he shouldn’t be sent out to take risks.

Gu Ze smiled when he heard this. It was just as he’d expected.

Li Wei lowered his hand, a little surprised. He hadn’t expected to be rejected.

Martin looked at the others and asked, "Anyone else?"

A few more people raised their hands one after another, but there were still several spots left to reach the total of fifteen.

Martin didn’t waste any more words. He looked directly at the Magic Butler and said, "Magic Butler, select suitable personnel for the battle."

Magic Butler: "Xiu Wen, Delis, Jenova, Li Wei."

The faces of the other three who were chosen changed slightly; they seemed reluctant.

Martin looked at Li Wei in surprise, then turned back to the Magic Butler and asked, "Are you sure Li Wei is more suitable than the others?"

Magic Butler: "According to mission completion records and combat performance, Apprentice Mage Li Wei is no weaker than the other three."

Xiu Wen, Delis, and Jenova stared in surprise at the young Li Wei.

Martin was also a bit taken aback. He hadn’t expected Li Wei to be on par with several people who had been Apprentice Mages for many years.

Seeing this, he didn’t say anything more. "Then it’s settled. Prepare yourselves. Be ready to depart for the battlefield with the main force tomorrow morning."

Those who weren’t chosen let out a sigh of relief.

Participating in the war could earn a large amount of Contribution, but it also meant danger.

War was no minor skirmish. A single careless mistake could lead to the death of even an Official Mage.

Everyone returned to their rooms.

Gu Ze walked alongside Li Wei. He didn’t say much, as the matter was already decided, and he couldn’t change it.

"On the battlefield, you must be careful not to stick your neck out. War is different from a normal mission. Your top priority is self-preservation. When a Mage’s position is exposed on the battlefield, they often become a target. Also, don’t stray from the main force to act alone..."
