Gunmage-Chapter 42: Interrogation
Chapter 42 - 42: Interrogation
His eyes narrowed as he stared at the Prince, then he turned his head to glance at the people in the room.
All of them subconsciously tried to avert their eyes when his gaze landed on them.
Then, as if furious with their involuntary reaction, they forced themselves to meet his inhuman gaze, only to be hit by a wave of biting terror.
They averted their eyes again. But with it came the inexplicable urge to stare at his right eye once more.
'Seriously, what the hell is up with this kid?'
Everybody instantly noticed his abnormality, and no one voiced any opinions of dissatisfaction, except for one man.
"He—he isn't even in uniform. How can he interrogate on behalf of the Ophris army?"
Everyone immediately nodded to this point.
'What the hell are they even talking about?'
Lugh's bewilderment did not reach his face.
The clothes he currently had on were the ones he had gotten from the eternally dark island and its people.
"True"
The Prince agreed with them before stating,
"Someone should go get me a spare uniform from the camp"
Then he paused before adding
"The smallest size."
Lugh wasn't sure why this was so important, but everyone still had to wait a good quarter of an hour before the uniform arrived.
Although it was called the smallest, it was still a few levels too big for Lugh. He didn't even have to change; he just wore it on top of what he was already wearing. He had to roll up the trousers as well as the sleeves.
"I look ridiculous"
Lugh said this part out loud, invoking a few coughs from the crowd.
They were in the presence of the major general and couldn't laugh out loud. As a result, a lot of these men were dying inside.
A colonel walked over and fixed his officer's cap on Lugh's head. It was oversized and drooped down awkwardly.
The man hurriedly left. From start to finish, his lips hadn't stopped twitching.
Lugh exhaled, then walked to the partition. The door was opened, and he was let in. Everyone present looked through the wooden bars to see what he was going to do.
Lugh walked over to the seat and sat down just across the spy, a table between them. The man looked him in the eye—and quickly averted his gaze.
That was all he needed.
Lugh didn't say anything, he just leaned back in the chair and looked up at the ceiling. The man seemed confused, but he also remained quiet.
Neither of them spoke, and this silence was maintained for a full five minutes.
The officers staring at the scene were confused and impatient.
"What the hell is he doing—"
"Shhhh,"
The Prince cautioned, and everyone else continued to stare, their faces marred with frowns.
Another ten minutes passed, and the spy, who had been tied up, gradually had all the life extinguished from his eyes.
There was motion. Lugh leveled his head and massaged his neck. Then he began to speak.
"Riley Osnil, an agent of the secretive 'Iron Veil' of Heieg. Code named Fisherman. He has spent 25 years of his life as a soldier of the Ophris Kingdom, eventually rising to the position of major."
The bored expressions of the men present had quickly transformed to that of surprise.
Lugh continued to explain in his monotone voice.
"With missions ranging from sabotage to assassinations. His major accomplishments include the poisoning of Duchess Valeria Voss on the 28th of November, 06, and the derailing of the Little Starling train on February 11th, 08."
As Lugh continued to speak, the faces of all the officers transitioned from surprise to one of utter shock.

Lugh continued to list a bunch of other things, including all the agents who major Riley knew, his current mission, contact info, encrypted codes used on telegraph, as well as all the information he had so far given to Heieg.
A group of people were furiously recording all that he said.
Lugh had a lost look in his eyes as he narrated.
He hated doing this. During this short period of time, he had gone through all the experiences this man, Riley, had amassed in his entire life.
Every memory, every decision, every regret. He knew him better than anyone else in the entire world.
Yet, this same man was an enemy that had to be eliminated. He wasn't sure how he felt about that.
The Mawglass had done its work, but Lugh felt... unclean.
He had rifled through this man's soul, stolen his thoughts, torn apart his mind as if it were nothing but a book to be read.
The worst part? Riley hadn't even realized what had happened to him.
Lugh wanted to wipe his hands clean of this power, but he knew he never could.
After his recount of all important details, one that took a staggering amount of time due to the man's impressive track record, Lugh stood up from his seat and drew out one of his enchanted daggers.
The one that had previously belonged to Dain.
He approached the spy under the concerned gazes of the officers and brought the blade down, severing the bindings that held him to the chair.
"What are you—"
"He's with me now"
Lugh interrupted. The spy stood up from his seat, and stood motionless behind Lugh, his eyes dead.
"Me and Riley here—"
Lugh said as he pointed
"—are gonna help you feed some false info to Heieg."
The eyes of the officers would have brightened up if they weren't so confused. Lugh stared at them, unimpressed.
He raised the dagger again and this time stabbed the lap of the spy under the startled gazes of the men present.
He twisted the blade, and blood flowed freely, but the man didn't react, didn't flinch. Lugh dragged out the blade, wiping the blood off the spy's uniform before resheathing it.
Riley simply ripped out a long strip of his clothing and tied it crudely to where he was injured in an attempt to stop the bleeding.
He hadn't uttered a single word throughout, not even a groan of pain. Everyone stared dumbstruck.
"This... This..."
"Do you understand now?"
Lugh asked again.
'Understand what?!!'
This was the question running through their minds, but they didn't voice their thoughts. Lugh might have seemed unsettling to them before. Now, he was plain terrifying.
The Prince cleared his throat.
"Gentlemen, I believe I don't have to tell you that—"
His voice became firm
"—everything that happened in this room should stay in this room."
"Yes, sir!"
They all responded with a salute.
Lovainne secretly shot a glare at Lugh. If he knew the boy was going to be so flashy about it, he'd have gone against the tide and commanded everybody to leave.
Lugh let out a rare smile. His objective was complete. The Prince had laid out a hush order, but for how long could it be kept a secret?
The more rumors there were about him, the better. This only served to further his goal.
