Half-Hearted: Mr. Sinclair, Stop the Act!-Chapter 147: Hatred
Sienna Monroe walked out of the elevator, her gaze fixed on the entrance of the inpatient department.
Despite the hustle and bustle outside the inpatient department, she still managed to catch sight of that tall figure standing in the morning light from a distance, through an entire pane of glass.
The man wore a coffee-colored coat, and stood like a fresh bamboo shooting out of the ground, his lean and indifferent silhouette coated with a thin layer of gold under the sunlight.
She began to walk toward him.
As if there was an emotional connection, just as she stepped out the door, Sebastian Prescott turned around and saw her.
His usually cool and narrow eyes, perhaps due to the sunlight, showed a hint of warmth.
"Have you had breakfast?" His indifferent, cool voice was carried away by the morning breeze.
"I have." Sienna smiled lightly. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
After a brief silence, Sebastian continued to ask, "You said yesterday that Caleb Sinclair knows everything. Is it alright?"
Sienna shook her head, "He hasn’t pierced this thin layer of window paper."
Sebastian pursed his lips slightly.
Such a big issue, and Caleb Sinclair hasn’t broken the silence.
Does that mean... he has concerns?
Is he worried that if he breaks the silence, Sienna would divorce him?
He slightly frowned, looked at her, and said, "What are you thinking about the divorce? June Ewing’s case was handed over to the prosecution the day before yesterday,
the material review is already underway, it’ll go to trial before the new year, but the verdict might not come until after—there might be another hearing after the year."
Sienna initially wanted to wait until June Ewing’s case was completely settled before getting a divorce.
But having to wait until after the year, she felt her patience was nearly exhausted.
She didn’t want to wait until after the year.
But now, he knows she’s the whistleblower.
Will Caleb Sinclair get desperate and reveal everything, making half of the elite families in Imperial City hostile to her?
This kind of unnecessary trouble, she didn’t want to provoke.
So, the divorce needed an appropriate reason.
Her thoughts drifted.
She wondered how Vivian Nash was doing now...
She still carried Caleb Sinclair’s child in her belly, if she comes back, what would Caleb’s attitude be?
Amidst a complex state of mind, she nodded, "Prepare it first, it should be soon."
Hearing this, Sebastian didn’t continue the topic and took a box from his black briefcase and handed it to her.
Sienna was taken aback; she recognized the logo on the box.
Isn’t it from the Starrism International Fountain Pen Company?
Indeed, it was a Thousand Jade Fountain Pen.
But... the one she bought secondhand didn’t come with a box.
She looked puzzled, "Since the pen is crucial evidence in Esther Sherwood’s case, it can be returned?"
Sebastian shook his head, his bottomless eyes reflecting her fair and beautiful features, and said in a low voice, "This isn’t that pen."
Upon hearing this, Sienna opened the box and found inside a brand-new pen made entirely of jade.
She widened her eyes in astonishment.
This Thousand Jade Fountain Pen was a limited edition from last Valentine’s Day, and now that the next Valentine’s is coming, it has long been discontinued.
"Where did you get this... ?"
"Bought it." Sebastian answered concisely.
Sienna was speechless; she of course knew it was bought.
She stared blankly at the pen, moved her lips to say she couldn’t accept it, but then Sebastian spoke again.
"Consider it compensation; you spent fifty-six thousand on that pen, I can’t let you suffer a loss."
His reason sounded logical and justified.
But she couldn’t help feeling it was a bit odd.
She opened her mouth, "You’ve helped me so much, it’s okay if you don’t repay..."
When she found him because of that pen, she hadn’t planned on getting it back.
Just thought of it as being a civic-minded person.
Besides, whether it was June Ewing’s case or her divorce case with Caleb Sinclair, he helped her a lot and kept trying to cooperate with her efforts.
"What’s right is right. As your attorney, some things are my responsibility, you needn’t worry about it."
He said this much, and if she continued to refuse, she’d seem pretentious.
She adjusted her emotions and smiled, "Okay, I’ll accept it, thank you."
Sebastian nodded slightly, and at that moment, his phone rang.
He answered, and Clarice Shelby’s gentle voice came from the other end, "Weren’t you at the entrance? How come I didn’t see you?"
"At the inpatient department entrance." Sebastian’s tone was casual, showing a relaxed expression.
The person on the other end said something, and he slightly raised an eyebrow, "I’m heading there now."
After the phone call, he said to Sienna, "I’ve got to go."
Sienna smiled sweetly, "Alright, take care."
In a corner of the hall, Caleb Sinclair stood there, a cold dark gaze, looking grimly at the cheerful voices from outside the glass.
Suddenly, it was as if he heard the sound of his own heart tearing.
A pause, a hitch.
Hiss—hiss—
The surrounding noise abruptly hit the pause button.
Outside, the sky was clear, not a cloud in sight, the breeze was gentle, as if only he stood in a secluded corner with overcast clouds, lightning and thunder, stormy rains.
The rain not only drenched his entire being but also soaked his already shattered heart.
He stared intently at the scene outside, watching Sebastian hand something over to Sienna, their few simple exchanges bringing a bright smile to Sienna’s face.
The tenderness in her brows and eyes was extraordinarily dazzling under the sun.
All the hesitations, wanderings, and doubts in his heart settled completely in this seemingly harmonious scene.
Even kept sinking further down, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t pull that heart back to its original place.
Then came a deep sense of powerlessness, and... a tinge of hatred wrapped with affection.
That bit of hatred perfectly aligned with the hatred he felt after learning the whistleblower from Radiance Beauty Spa was Sienna Monroe.
He clenched his fist, enveloped in gloom and low pressure, his eyes red, etched with some ferocious and wicked blood streaks.
Upon seeing Sebastian take a call, say a few words to Sienna and turn to leave, he took a deep breath, turned, and took the elevator upstairs.
The nurse who was supposed to give him an injection had been searching for him all over.
Seeing him return with such a dark presence, she was startled.
Thinking this man’s expression was terrifying.
The anger she felt for not finding the patient vanished instantly upon meeting his ruthless gaze.
Caleb Sinclair lay on the bed, speaking coldly, "I’m not taking the injection, you can leave."
The nurse was stunned, trying to persuade, "Mr. Sinclair, your illness hasn’t healed yet, please cooperate with our work."
"Can’t understand human speech? I said no injections, leave."
Caleb was somewhat irritable at this moment, this violent burst was the complete opposite of his usual gentle demeanor.
The nurse was so bewildered by his shouting, fully frightened.
When Sienna walked in, she saw the nurse, pale as a ghost, tears welling up in her eyes.
She looked at Caleb’s fierce expression and the gloom surrounding him, frowning.
"What happened?"
Seeing her, the nurse looked like she saw her savior, "Miss Morgan, I came to give Mr. Sinclair his injection, but he won’t cooperate..."
And he inexplicably yelled at me.
This sentence stuck in her throat, unable to come out.
Sienna walked over, gently patted her shoulder, and softly comforted, "I’m sorry, he’s under a lot of stress lately, his mood isn’t great, he doesn’t mean any harm to you.
Please step out first, wait half an hour and have someone else come give the injection, okay?"
Her voice was gentle and soft, like a continuous light rain in the mountains, softly easing the nurse’s panic.
The nurse nodded, answered with a "fine" and left.
