Harem-Powered Kingdom Building: Empire of Carnal Sin-Chapter 46: It’s Not Over!
Chapter 46 - It's Not Over!
Hiro, who had been observing the happenings of the settlement using [Inspect Sense], replied instantly. "I think that is indeed the case."
"You think...? Anyways, when are you coming back?"
"I can't just abandon Hema over here, can I? We're rushing back right now, but I'm sure you guys can handle yourselves. Be careful, Tara."
Tara wanted to ask Hiro if he had already done it with Hema. But she hesitated, afraid that she wouldn't like the answer she heard.
Vasquen interrupted her thoughts with his words. He was obviously oblivious to Tara's telepathic conversation. "We should bind them, just in case."
"Agreed," Targon said in his stoic voice.
The others also nodded one after the other. Soon, the three unconscious women were secured with rope.

But the tension in the air did not ease. The mist was still as thick as ever. Everyone knew that the hypnosis was only the first phase.
After a few seconds of tense silence, Barbara couldn't hold her irritation back anymore. "Why are the monsters still not here!? Are they even coming?"
"You seem a little confused. It's better if they don—"
Vasquen did not really have the chance to finish his retort.
"Look! Over there!"
Tara pointed toward the mist in the direction of the tower.
Shadows shifted within the haze. And then, without any cry or warning, the goblin riders emerged first.
They moved in eerie silence, the hooves of their mounts churning the wet earth. Unlike regular monsters, there were no snarls, no shouts. Only the rhythmic pounding of their charge accompanied their arrival.
But it wasn't just the goblins. Flying above them were the harpies.
Their wings sliced through the mist as they descended like ghosts. Just like with the goblins and unlike regular harpies, there were no bloodthirsty shrieks or frenzied cries. Their eyes gleamed with a cold light.
"They're here!" Targon shouted, readying his greatsword.
"Their numbers are much higher than yesterday," Tara said. Fortunately, they had mentally prepared themselves for such a possibility, so they weren't too taken aback.
The settlement had over ten people with combat classes if the fresh batch of citizens was also counted. The raiding monsters numbered around sixteen.
'This is doable,' they all thought.
"Damn! The way these monsters are acting is giving me the creeps," Vasquen said once he noticed their abnormality when they came closer.
"Don't think too much about it. Pretty sure they were like that yesterday as well," Tara informed him.
Vasquen jumped onto the rooftop of the barracks and shot an arrow, which pierced the throat of one of the goblin riders. Its body fell limp before it even hit the ground. With practiced movements, Vasquen had already drawn another arrow before the first one even landed.
"Their levels are not very high!" he said to the others. "Most of them are between Level 15 and 20. We got this!"
"That's encouraging to hear, but why are they all female...?"
Nobody had the answer to Targon's question.
The frontline of the monsters soon reached the settlement, and the battle began in earnest.
A harpy smoothly glided down toward Tara, who was inwardly quite nervous. Level 20 might be low for the Berger family or for the Shuvlok tribesmen, but that wasn't the case for her.
The harpy swung at Tara with its talons, but she barely managed to block the attack with her sword. She had to give it her all just to deal with a casual attack from the harpy, which was about to swing again.
'Dammit!' Tara was frustrated that her level was so low. That she had a common class.
But there was someone who was secretly keeping an eye out on Tara apart from Hiro. This person, who made a move after noticing Tara's predicament, was none other than Barbara!
She stepped in between Tara and the harpy and leaped forward, delivering a powerful punch to the harpy's chest. Unlike with the fire mage earlier, the harpy's bones shattered on impact, and the creature crumpled lifelessly to the ground.
"Hmph! Weak!" Barbara scoffed at Tara while keeping her eyes on the battlefield. Even though she said that, she remained by Tara's side through the rest of the fight.
Tara, who could tell that this was Barbara's way of looking out for her, felt her emotions grow even more complicated.
Meanwhile, the Shuvlok berserkers clashed with the goblins in close combat. They fought like well-oiled machines. Hiro had undoubtedly lucked out with his early citizens. Whether it was the Berger family or the Shuvlok tribesmen, none of them were weak.
The berserkers' axes cleaved through goblin flesh with terrifying force. The goblins did not cry out or show any pain, which unsettled the berserkers. Instead, they simply collapsed like broken toys that had lost their power source.
Shuvichi moved across the battlefield as if he was dancing instead of fighting. His blade was coated in a strange oil that clung to the metal like glue.
To someone like Tara, every swing of his blade left behind faint afterimages. Every strike claimed the life of a goblin, a direwolf, or a harpy.
The monsters attacked and defended without fear or hesitation, but their movements lacked the desperation of creatures fighting for their lives.
Fiona stood farther away, sniping enemies with her magic. She, Vasquen, and Shuvni had a clear view of the battlefield and assisted any melee fighters whenever things looked dicey for them.
It was obvious to any onlooker that most of these people were experienced fighters. Even with little communication, they instinctively understood their roles in the battle and carried them out seamlessly.
Tara watched in awe as the harpies and goblins fell one by one. The fact that they didn't utter a single sound, even while dying, made them seem like lifeless combat dummies.
The last goblin fell. The battle was over. The southwestern part of the settlement was strewn with blood, guts, and monster corpses.
Among Hiro's citizens, nobody had sustained major injuries, but fatigue was beginning to set in for some, partly due to the oppressive atmosphere.
"Is it over? That was easier than expected," Vasquen said from the rooftop.
The moment he spoke, a faint tremor rippled through the ground. Then another. And another. The tremors grew stronger.
Barbara frowned at him. "You should talk less. I swear, something unpleasant happens every time you open your mouth."
Vasquen was speechless, but the massive shadow looming in the mist told him that this was not the time for arguments.
Soon, a giant figure emerged from the haze. A female hill giant stood before them.
