Hated By The Alpha-Chapter 135: Witch gathering
Audrey walked into Miranda’s room and found her mother sitting on the bed.
"Hello, daughter," Isabella waved her over to her side.
"Hi, Mom, I thought you had your own room?" Audrey questioned as she lowered herself on the bed beside her mother.
"Yes, dear, I do. But, I hear there’s trouble coming, so I wanted to be near my sister before she left," Isabella said sadly.
Audrey paused her lips; she understood that her mother didn’t want anything to happen to her sister; from the look on her face, she did not even want him to go to the battle at all.
"And, I’m worried about you the most, can’t you stay? Some capable warriors will fight In your stead, Audrey, please do not go," Isabella grabbed Audrey’s hands, looking pleadingly at her.
Audry sighed, "It’s okay, Mom, I can handle it. What kind of Luna would I be if I abandoned my pack members in the time of trouble? They need me, and I need them; we need each other to survive; mother, only I can’t shoulder the whole burden."
Isabella nodded slightly, "I know, I understand. Just that, all my life, I’d believed that my daughter was dead, but now that I’ve found you, I never want you going into situations that would make you risk your life; I don’t want to lose you because I can’t live on with you dead." She placed her head on Audrey’s shoulder.
Audrey smiled sadly, patting her mother’s thigh.
"Don’t worry, mom. I promise you that I will come back to you, and we will finally have a lot of time to spend together and get to know each other better. We would share fun stories, just like mother and daughter do. And, I would like to introduce you to my mama," Audrey spoke with a smile.
Isabella furrowed her brows at the last part of Audrey’s words.
"Your mama? Who is your mama?" Isabella asked curiously.
Audrey chuckled, expecting that reaction from her mother.
"Her name is Bridget, they know her as Ms. Bridget. But I call her Mama because she was the one who took me in. When the pack turned against me, she took me in like her own child and sheltered and fed me, protecting me to the best of her strengths and limits. She’s the first mother I knew, and I will always see her as one," Audrey informed me with a fond look on her face.
Isabella saw the look on her daughter’s face and understood that she was late after all. What was she thinking, that her daughter had managed to grow up in this dangerous pack on her own without guidance? She was hurt but wasn’t jealous. She knew whoever that woman was deserved every bit of Audrey’s love; she earned it, and she wasn’t about to take that away from her.
"I would like to meet her too. Give her my thanks and respect for taking such good care of my daughter and raising her in the right way. Strong, intelligent, independent, name them... she must be a great woman herself for helping you turn out the way you did " Isabella smiled.
Audrey nodded, "She is."
Audrey looked around the room and suddenly remembered her reason for coming in there.
"Um, where’s Miranda?" She asked.
Isabella pointed to the door, "She just left with her twins; they refused to tell me where they were going," she informed.
Audrey bit her lips, "Oh, alright. Mother, I have to go, Lisa will be with you in case you need anything. Promise me you won’t leave this room, please?" Audrey begged; she wanted her mother to be safe at all costs.
"I promise, I’ll be right here, waiting for you," Miranda hugged her, holding back her tears.
Audrey smiled at her mother for the last time before she stood and walked out of the room.
"Lisa?" She called to Lisa, who was heading inside the kitchen.
Lisa turned and walked to Audrey.
"Yes, Luna," She answered.
"Please, do not let my mother out of your sight," Audrey said gently.
Lisa nodded, a small smile playing on her lips, "I wouldn’t dare, Luna. I owe you my life," Lisa bowed to Audrey.
Audrey sighed, feeling relief from the promise.
"You too, be safe," she patted Lisa’s arm and walked out of the packhouse.
"You too be safe, Luna," Lisa whispered as Audrey walked out of the house.
Audrey smiled. She was far away, but she still heard Lisa’s wish for her safety.
She would be safe, and she would make sure that everyone was safe, too.
She was walking toward the field when Maria ran up to her.
"Audrey, everyone’s ready and waiting for your order," Maria informed.
Audrey was glad she saw Maria. She would have searched a little longer before she found them.
"Is Miranda with them?" She questioned.
Maria nodded, "Yes, she’s briefing them about the whole thing," Maria responded, leading Audrey in the opposite direction from the field.
But before Aydrey turned away from the field, she caught a glimpse of Alpha Lake standing between Alpha Sebastian and Andrew. He looked so hot as he threw out instructions to the warriors.
"You don’t seem to be happy with him," Maria stated as they neared the forest.
Audrey looked away from Alpha Lake, "I don’t know, I’m not angry at him, but I’m just not ready to talk to him yet," She sighed.
Maria nodded, "You know, after everything, in the end, he loves you more than his own life, and he just does everything he does for you to be safe. You’re his priority, his life, literally. So, do make time to speak with him before everything gets heated up. He doesn’t look as cheerful as he used to," Maria put her hand around Audrey’s shoulder.
"You know I love you, and I love anyone you love, so make sure you’re happy and the one you love is happy too; that way, I’m happy," Maria giggled.
"Get off me, Maria," Audrey removed Maria’s hand from her shoulder, smiling.
She knew what Maria said was the truth. She needed to speak with Alpha Lake before things got heated up.
"Alright, do that teleporting thingy of yours? They’re quite far into the forest," Maria suddenly hopped on Audrey’s back without warning.
Audrey frowned at her but didn’t complain; she used her eyes and tapped into Maria’s vision, seeing where the other witches were gathered.
In the blink of an eye, The two girls appeared in the middle of a large clearing within the forest.
Audrey gently put the dizzy Maria down and looked around to see the hundreds of witches kneeling with their heads bowed.
"We await your order, Grant one," the witches chorused.
"Rise," Audrey said, motioning them to stand with her hand.
The witches obeyed, rising to their feet.
"We all know why we’ve been summoned; it’s time to put an end to the endless roaming of the dark witches and their dark creatures; they were never meant to exist in the first place," Audrey’s voice was the only sound that was heard amongst the witches.
It carried a tone of calmness yet seriousness.
"We are ready, Great one," one of the witches replied.
"First, the warders shall all spread out along the borders, creating a spell across it; it would be enough to hold the dark creatures off and let the warriors fight them off before they could get into the pack," Audrey slowly walked around the circle, giving orders to the witches.
"Some of the healers shall go with my cousins, Maria and Mary, and join the warriors, in case you need to heal them from injuries. Others shall spread out all around the forest, fighting off any dark creature or dark witch that comes in sight," She stopped in front of Miranda.
"My aunt shall be beside me throughout the whole fight," She said, seriously looking into Miranda’s eyes.
Miranda frowned, not liking the idea of sticking to Audrey throughout the fight. She knew why Audrey wanted it that way, but she wasn’t going to let herself be protected like some kid.
"Audrey, I can take care of myself," Miranda held Audrey’s hand, shaking her head at her.
Audrey slowly removed her hand from Miranda’s, "I’m sorry, Miranda, but this is an order. I can’t let anything happen to you," Audrey informed, her voice determined and her face hard.
She wasn’t about to let her mother’s fears come true; she couldn’t live with the guilt and pain of having to watch her mother go through another episode of heartbreak and pain, and neither did she want to see her cousins mourn their mother. And she most definitely wasn’t about to lose her only aunt!
Miranda knew that Audrey had made her decisions, nothing was going to change that.
"Yes, great one," She replied with a slight bow of her head.
Audrey nodded and moved on, she didn’t like to command her aunt, but desperate times called for desperate measures.
"Spread out, everyone, and may the light guide our ways!" Audrey ordered loudly.
The witches immediately spread out, ready to face the unknown, and hoping to come back victorious.
