Chapter 160: You have two options

"Moma! Look, Andrew’s shaking!" Mikhail laughed out loudly as he pointed back at Andrew, who was holding onto a chair to keep himself from falling.

He felt ashamed to be seen in that situation.

"That’s shameful, Andrew. A beta, scared of a roller coaster," Lake scoffed as he stared at Andrew.

Andrew bowed his head and apologized, "I’m sorry, Alpha,"

Audrey chuckled, "Don’t listen to him, Andrew; I’m sure there’s something he must be scared of, too," She shrugged and walked over to Andrew.

Lake was staring at her while he held Mikhail’s hand.

Thinking about what she said, he suddenly realized that there was something he was scared of and that realization scared him.

"Are you really scared or just trying to make the boy laugh?" Audrey asked in a whisper beside Andrew.

Andrew looked down at his shaking legs and looked back at Audrey, "Does it look like I’m faking it?" He questioned.

Audrey giggled, "You really are pathetic, Andrew," She placed a hand on his shoulder and he automatically stopped shaking.

"You’re welcome," Audrey winked at him.

"Come here, baby, let’s go buy Grandma some gifts," She said to Mikhail as she walked away from them.

Andrew took some seconds before he realized that Audrey had used magic to help his nerves relax.

He cleared his throat and straightened himself, holding his head high.

Lake saw him and clicked his tongue, then he proceeded to lead the boy behind his mother.

"Lake," Mikhail called quietly.

"How about Dad from now on?" Lake asked gently.

Mikhail nodded without hesitation.

He’d been dying to call him that, but he didn’t know if his mother would be okay with it.

But Lake asked him to, so he can’t refuse.

"Okay. When can I visit your pack, Dad?" He asked in his cute voice.

Lake furrowed his brows.

He’d never thought of that, but now that he did, it was a good idea.

Having Mikhail at the Grey blood pack automatically meant that his mother would be there; he would love to have them there.

"How about we ask Moma when?" He asked with a hidden smirk.

If he asked directly, he knew she’d recuse, but coming from her son; she would surely give it a second thought.

Audrey was standing in front of a small stall with beautiful handmade bracelets and necklaces. She was looking around, searching for the ones that’d fit her Mother and Green.

Thinking of Green, she needed to send her a text telling her that everything was alright.

She could see the panic in her when she told her that Mikhail was missing.

"Moma, is that for grandma?" Mikhail asked as he stood beside Audrey, pointing to a pearl necklace.

Audrey hadn’t even noticed it and now that she stared at it, it was just the perfect match for her mother.

"Wow, Mikhail, you have a good eye," Audrey picked it up and examined it.

It was a real pearl, but why was it sold in a park as if it were some ordinary bead?

She shrugged; she didn’t care as long as the owner wanted to sell it; she was ready to buy it.

"Come on, baby, choose something for Green," Audrey pointed to the stall again, ignoring the unwavering look Lake was giving her.

’Hmm... Green..." Mikhail tilted his head to the side and tapped his cheek with his finger, thinking about what gift would be the best choice for Green.

"Aha!" Mikhail suddenly moved and reached for something hanging high on the wall of the stall.

"I...can’t...reach it!" Mikhail jumped off his feet and grabbed a green bracelet that was hanging on the wall.

However, as he landed, he slipped and was speedily falling to the ground.

Audrey saw it and panicked, she was about to move toward him, but Lake was faster than her.

He caught Mikhail in his arms and lifted him off his feet.

"Are you okay, buddy?" He asked, concern lacing his voice as he instantly scanned Mikhail’s body for any wounds.

Mikhail nodded his head, "I’m fine," he smiled at him.

Audrey was beside them in a matter of seconds, holding Mikhail’s hand.

"Hey, love, are you alright?" She tried to carry him out of Lake’s arms, but the boy hugged Lake’s neck like a Koala.

"I’m fine, Moma. Dad saved me," Mikhail replied.

Audrey paused, snapping her head to Lake immediately.

He slowly shook his head at her, secretly telling her to let the topic be for now.

Audrey sighed and agreed. The boy looked happy at that moment. She wouldn’t want to be the reason he stopped being happy.

"I’m glad you’re fine, honey, thanks Lake," She genuinely smiled at him.

Lake felt his heart flutter.

This was the first genuine smile Audrey had given him since he’d met her, and he couldn’t explain why he and his wolf felt like a winner just by seeing her smile at him.

"Here, Moma. A green bracelet, just for Green," Mikhail dangled the bracelet in front of Audrey.

Audrey smiled as she took the bracelet from him, "Thanks, baby, she’ll love it," She kissed his cheek.

"Moma!" Mikhail pouted and moved away.

Audrey chuckled and moved back.

She knew why he was acting funny; he no longer allowed her to kiss him outside. He believed he was now a man, and people would laugh at him if they saw him getting kissed by his mummy.

"Fine. No more kisses outside," She promised.

Audrey turned around and paid their seller, putting the necklace and the bracelet in her pocket.

Andrew was standing by the side observing the happy family.

He didn’t want to go and interrupt their family time; he knew it wouldn’t be every time they’d be together like this.

"Moma, I...no, we have something to ask you," Mikhail announced.

Audrey narrowed her eyes; she was starting to get skeptical of Mikhail’s requests; ever since Lake arrived, all the requests he’d made centered around Lake.

She was scared he’d soon make the one she wouldn’t be able to grant.

However, she still nodded at him, "Go on, Mikhail, what do you have to say?" She gently asked.

Mikhail looked at Lake, who still carried him in his arms as if he was asking for permission before he said whatever it was he had to say.

Lake nodded, looking over at Audrey.

Audrey felt like Lake was the parent while she was the parent’s friend and that the child had to get permission from his parent before he spoke to her.

"Well... Moma, Dad is an Alpha right?" Mikhail questioned, playing with his fingers.

"An Alpha King," Lake provided, locking his eyes with Audrey’s.

Audrey internally scoffed, ’Poser.’ She thought.

"Wow! Awesome, Dad is an Alpha king," Mikhail repeated.

Audrey sighed, "Yes, he is," She nodded.

He knew Mikhail would be genuinely curious about Lake since he had that unrecognized connection with him.

She was curious to hear what Mikhail wanted to ask of her.

"Alright, I was wondering...can I go visit his Pack this Christmas?" Mikhail asked in a quiet and unsure voice.

"No." Audrey turned and started to walk away.

That was one request she could never grant.

Never!

"She said no," She heard Mikhail’s sad voice behind her.

She didn’t turn around; she didn’t want to see the disappointment in her son’s eyes, she knew what he was asking for was normal.

Wanting to visit his father was not wrong; if things were how they should be, Mikhail should be living in the Grey Blood pack, learning the ways of an Alpha, instead of living with only women and being a Moma’s boy.

But it was something she couldn’t do.

Seeing Lake here after so many years was a shock, but to some extent, she had control over how they interacted. But if she goes back to the States with him, there is no guarantee that she will be able to escape him.

He had become too brazen and corny for her liking, she didn’t think she could keep outsmarting him forever. So, staying in Paris was the best option, going back to the States wasn’t an option.

She stopped under a tree, watching a couple walk down the park together.

She heard the footsteps behind and knew who it belonged to, but she didn’t turn around.

Lake came and stood beside Audrey, Mikhail still in his arms. "Come on, Kitten, Let the boy witness what it feels like to be with a Pack. Don’t you think you’re depriving him of his rights as a Future Alpha?" Lake tried to reason.

Audrey scoffed, she turned and stared at Lake and Mikhail.

Now she was the bad parent, the one that always refused their kid what they wanted.

Mikahail was quietly laying his head on Lake’s shoulder, facing away from Audrey as if he didn’t want to look at her.

"I have my reasons, Lake. Remember what we talked about, and know your place," Audrey narrowed her eyes at him.

"We haven’t really talked about why your wine tastes exactly like mine and why you named your company after me. Want to pick it up with my lawyer in the States?" Lake asked, a silent threat in his voice.

Audrey stared up at him in disbelief.

He was really going that low just to get her to go back with him.

She knew he’d do it, just to get Mikhail and her with him.

This was so wrong; the curse wasn’t supposed to let him want her or her son.

Why was everything happening so wrongly?

"What do you really want from me?" Audrey asked.

Lake shrugged gently, "I’ll give you another option. I’ve seen your fragrances, and for some reason, I like them. It reminds me of someone...someone I should remember but can’t. How about we do business?" Lake suggested.

Audrey thought for a while before shaking her head, "No, I don’t think doing business with you is a good idea."

Lake smiled, he was expecting that reply.

"You just have to make me your business partner since you already sell my products without my permission, it’s only fair I become affiliated with your other business, then we’ll be equal. I just want a contract joint venture with your Floral Fusion. Come down to the States with me and help me build a new branch for our business; when it’s completed, you can leave." Lake narrated.

"You have two options, Kitten: face my lawyer or partner with me. You chose," He said to her.

Audrey couldn’t believe her ears. Lake was unbelievable!

He really gave her no choice, either way, she would still have to return with him.

"Um, Alpha, I think Melody got in an accident," Andrew came forward and showed Lake a picture of a bloodied Melody lying on a crosswalk.
