He Does Not Deserve My Devotion-Chapter 54: Nina Walsh Is Pregnant with Your Child
"Nina Walsh is pregnant with your child!" Brian Sherman said.
Aiden Sinclair didn’t pay it much mind at first, but then it suddenly hit him. Nina had already miscarried when she returned to the Sheridan family. If the baby were gone, Brian Sherman wouldn’t dare use it as a bargaining chip.
There was only one possibility: Nina’s child was still alive.
Aiden felt as if he’d been struck by lightning. The memory of that night in the dilapidated warehouse flooded his mind—Nina looking at him with pleading eyes, her hand resting on her stomach even then.
’I didn’t understand. Back then, I actually didn’t understand!’
Seeing Aiden’s lack of reaction, Brian Sherman thought he didn’t believe him and quickly added, "Mr. Sinclair, you don’t know, do you? When you dumped her, she was pregnant with your child. She’s been secretly taking medication to prevent a miscarriage."
"Mr. Sinclair, your bloodline is so precious. How about I trade it for the life of the Sherman Group?"
The moment the words left his mouth, a photo of Nina Walsh appeared on Aiden Sinclair’s phone.
Brian Sherman’s men were following Nina right now. If Aiden didn’t agree, he would have them get rid of the child in her womb.
Aiden was suddenly overcome with fury. His icy gaze shot toward Brian Sherman, and the temperature in the room seemed to plummet.
"If you dare touch her, I’ll make the Sheridan Family disappear from Crestfall forever!"
Brian Sherman wasn’t afraid. Seeing Aiden so anxious over Nina Walsh only boosted his confidence.
"Does this mean Mr. Sinclair is willing to make this deal with me?"
Aiden calmed himself. "I can spare the Sherman Group, but I want one more thing."
"What is it?" Brian Sherman asked, confused.
...
Nina Walsh left Julian Sinclair’s villa and drove to the aromatherapy shop at Skyscape Plaza.
Nina, wearing sunglasses, a pantsuit, and high heels, radiated a powerful aura. The salesclerk didn’t recognize her.
After she gave her phone number, the clerk respectfully brought out a gift box covered in red roses.
"Miss Walsh, this is the custom aromatherapy you ordered. One box per quarter. This is the second one."
’Money is a wonderful thing. And looking like you have it is even better.’
"Throw away the box. I just want the aromatherapy block. Also, you don’t need to make the last two. I’ll still pay for them."
Nina Walsh paid with her card, took the aromatherapy block, and walked into the elevator, pressing the button for the first basement level.
When the elevator reached the B1 parking garage, Nina had just stepped out when a figure rushed out from a corner, clamped a hand over her mouth, and started dragging her away.
"Mmmph—!"
Nina struggled relentlessly, but something cold was suddenly pressed against the small of her back.
"Don’t move, or I’ll stab you."
Nina didn’t dare to move. The man dragged her toward a van.
’Once I’m in that van, there’ll be no chance of escape.’ Nina seized the moment when the kidnapper used one hand to open the door and forcefully slammed her head into his face.
"Help!"
Nina cried for help as she tried to run, but her high heel twisted, and she fell to the ground. The kidnapper immediately caught up, grabbed her by the hair, and began dragging her toward the van again.
In the nick of time, a tall figure ran over and kicked the kidnapper to the ground. The man scrambled up, saw the imposing aura of his opponent, and turned to flee.
"Nina? Are you hurt? I’ll take you to the hospital."
Aiden Sinclair reached down to lift Nina from the ground, but a sharp pain suddenly pierced his chest.
"Don’t touch me!"
At some point, Nina had picked up the kidnapper’s knife.
She gripped the knife, its tip aimed at Aiden’s chest, her voice as cold as ice. "Back off!"
Aiden’s dark eyes dimmed, and he took two steps back.
Using the car behind her for support, Nina stood up. Still holding the knife, she turned and staggered toward her own vehicle.
She didn’t say another word, nor did she spare Aiden Sinclair a single glance.
Aiden felt as if he had been plunged into an icy abyss, his entire body numb.
"Mr. Sinclair." Jay Keane picked up the aromatherapy block she had dropped and handed it over.
It was the same kind as the one that had ’poisoned’ Clara Jacobs.
Aiden held it to his nose and inhaled. The turbulent storm in his heart gradually began to calm. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Go to the aromatherapy shop."
...
There was an aromatherapy shop in Skyscape Plaza, renowned throughout Crestfall. It boasted the world’s most exceptional perfumers, who claimed they could create any scent imaginable.
"Which of your perfumers made this?" Jay Keane asked, presenting the aromatherapy block Nina had dropped.
The shop manager came out. "I made that. A Miss Walsh commissioned our shop to create this custom aromatherapy. The winter before last, Miss Walsh came in and said she wanted a scent that exactly matched her own natural body scent. We formulated several versions for her, but she wasn’t satisfied with any of them. Later, she found an ancient formula from somewhere, and we finally succeeded after another five or six attempts."
"What ancient formula?"
"The ancient method is very complex, but to put it simply, it involves extracting human blood, refining it into an essential oil, and adding it to the aromatherapy base. It took us more than half a year of experimentation to succeed."
Aiden Sinclair’s face went deathly pale in an instant. It felt as if something had viciously seized his heart.
He remembered a period when Nina had been pale and weak from time to time. He’d asked her about it, and she had said it was just period pain. He hadn’t paid it any mind, simply having someone find her a gynecologist to prescribe some medication.
’If only I had paid more attention back then and had someone look into it. Then I would have known. From the moment she was with me, she loved me with all her heart.’
"Later, once the formulation was successful, Miss Walsh placed a one-time order for four blocks, saying they were an anniversary gift for the man she loved. She picked one up last time. There are two left, which we’ve already finished."
...
Nina Walsh returned to Maelie and found some liniment to rub on her ankle. Fortunately, it was just a sprain, and she hadn’t damaged any bones or ligaments.
A message from Julian Sinclair came through. Mario was back in Crestfall, and they were meeting at Nirvana Bar.
Nina replied, "On my way," and got up to change her clothes.
Standing in front of the mirror, she noticed a bloodstain on the sleeve of her jacket.
’I’m not injured. So the blood must be... Aiden Sinclair’s.’
Without a second thought, she took off the jacket and threw it in the trash.
...
「Nirvana Bar.」
Cameron Lawson pushed open the door to the private room. It was quiet inside. Aiden Sinclair was sitting alone on the sofa, drinking sullenly. Many empty bottles littered the table.
Jay Keane looked as if he’d seen his savior. "Mr. Lawson, please, talk some sense into Mr. Sinclair. He can’t keep drinking. The wound on his hand hasn’t even healed..."
Cameron Lawson glanced at the hand Aiden was using to hold the bottle. The bandage was soaked red with blood.
"When did he get injured?"
Jay Keane answered vaguely, "A few days ago, a woman tried to kill herself, and Mr. Sinclair grabbed the blade to stop her."
The woman Jay Keane was talking about was Nina Walsh.
That day, Nina had been distraught and tried to take her own life with a knife. Aiden had grabbed the blade with his bare hand. The wound was deep and still hadn’t healed properly.
"You can go. I’ll talk to him."
"Then I’ll leave him to you, Mr. Lawson."
After Jay Keane left, Cameron Lawson sat down on the sofa across from Aiden and chuckled with amusement.
"Judging by that devastated look on your face, you’ve really screwed things up, haven’t you? The moment you agreed to let Clara Jacobs come back, I knew this whole thing would blow up in your face."
