Chapter 110: Chapter 110: Blue Lake

The fact that males were recovering and being discharged from the shelter was no longer a secret internally.

Every one of them longed to be the next lucky one.

They had all thought about it. If they could one day truly walk out of this place, they would have to travel and see the world. They wouldn’t be tied down to one place, fixated on a single thing or a single person. They would have to experience everything they’d never tried before, to make the most of this new lease on life.

Dean thought so, too.

Hearing this, Lu Xiao wasn’t surprised. People only change their old ways of thinking and become more open-minded and cheerful after experiencing despair.

’Besides life and death, nothing else is a big deal.’

So Lu Xiao wasn’t surprised by Dean’s thoughts. In fact, she was very supportive. "That’s wonderful. The Empire is vast and has so much to see; you should definitely explore it. I hope that the next time we meet, you’ll have travel stories to tell me."

Lu Xiao’s words made it seem as if he were about to set off on his journey, his dream just within reach.

It made Dean feel that he truly had such an opportunity, and that it would arrive soon. His heart couldn’t help but fill with anticipation and longing; even the air seemed sweet.

It was hard to be in a bad mood when interacting with a female like Lu Xiao.

She was someone who was exceptionally good at providing emotional value.

Dean might not have known the term, but he had already experienced it firsthand.

Even just a simple chat with Lu Xiao made him feel as if he were basking in the sun, warm and relaxed.

"Alright, let’s begin today’s treatment." If things went smoothly today, Lu Xiao thought Dean might just drop from Mid-stage Junior into the much safer Early Stage.

After the last few sessions, she had discovered that Dean was becoming increasingly sensitive to Spiritual Soothing Treatment.

The effectiveness of the treatment was getting better and better, which she felt had a lot to do with the "Release Therapy."

Lu Xiao saw patients with conditions similar to Dean’s every afternoon, but the results of their treatments weren’t nearly as significant.

As Dean’s danger level decreased, treating him had become much less difficult, especially since Lu Xiao’s own purification power had grown quite a bit recently.

She now felt that if she encountered a Mid-Advanced S-Class male, she wouldn’t be in such a sorry state as she was when she first met Dean.

’I could definitely hold on for a little longer now.’

After thirty minutes of treatment, Dean fell into a peaceful sleep.

Lu Xiao returned to her station to observe the changes on the monitor.

Just as she had predicted, the danger assessment level of Dean’s Spirit Sea had changed from Mid-stage to Early Stage.

He was currently at the Early-stage Advanced level.

With the drop in his danger level, Dean’s safety index rose once again.

This was good news for all the males in the S-Class Shelter.

Dean’s progress proved that the Release Therapy she had advocated for was extremely effective.

When males released their emotions instead of suppressing them, the effects of Spiritual Soothing were greatly enhanced.

Dean’s Spirit Sea was no longer as pitch-black as it had been when she first saw it.

Not only had the Dark Matter receded, but even the tangled spirit silks had unfurled. Overall, Dean’s Spirit Sea was looking much more normal.

Lu Xiao was in a great mood. She felt that her efforts had not been in vain; the results were excellent.

With that in mind, Lu Xiao sent Dean’s diagnostic report to Hans: "Dean is recovering very well, and the treatment has been remarkably effective. The Release Therapy is working. Admiral Hans, as the person in charge of the shelter, minor adjustments to the internal layout don’t need to be reported to Her Majesty the Queen, right?"

Admiral Hans hadn’t hidden the fact that Her Majesty the Queen had rejected their previous proposal.

But in this kind of situation, Lu Xiao believed that for every policy from above, there was a countermeasure from below.

Her Majesty the Queen had only rejected the proposal, not denied their results.

’A major overhaul is out, but surely minor changes are fine, right?’

’As the head of the shelter, Admiral Hans should have that much authority, shouldn’t he?’

In truth, Admiral Hans hadn’t given up either. It was just that after Her Majesty the Queen rejected the plan he had promised Lu Xiao he would see through, he had been feeling a little guilty toward her.

He had been trying to find a solution all this time, and subtle changes had already begun to take place within the shelter. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

Now, upon receiving Lu Xiao’s suggestion, the weight on Admiral Hans’s heart finally lifted. Lu Xiao wasn’t angry about what happened before and had even sent a message like this. It made Admiral Hans genuinely feel that Lu Xiao was truly one of a kind.

She had her own ideas, a heaven-sent ability, an open mind, and she wasn’t constrained by convention.

"Thank you for your suggestion, Lu Xiao. I do indeed have that authority, and I will exercise it well. Rest assured, I will absolutely not let your and everyone’s efforts go to waste."

Lu Xiao hadn’t expected Admiral Hans’s reply to be so earnest, which made her respond a little more seriously as well: "Having a leader like you at the shelter is a stroke of luck for all the S-Class males. Everyone will be grateful for your hard work and dedication ^_^"

Hans looked at the message, unable to stop the corners of his lips from turning up.

’Who doesn’t like to be praised!’

Especially when the praise came from a female like Lu Xiao.

It was all the more gratifying, to the point that Hans felt the frustration that had been building up inside him for the past few days had completely dissipated.

He felt completely re-energized!

Dean slept for nearly three hours before waking up. After he awoke, he was in excellent spirits.

"That’s all for today’s treatment. See you next time, Dean."

"See you next time, Healer Lu. Thank you for today. I’ve troubled you again."

"This is my job. Seeing you all get better gives me a great sense of accomplishment. Goodbye, and get some rest when you get back."

Lu Xiao saw him to the door, then took her things and returned to her office.

When Teacher Ai Li saw her return, she asked with concern, "How did it go? Is Dean alright?"

"Dean is recovering very quickly now. After today’s treatment, his danger level was officially updated to Early Stage. I don’t think it will be long before he’s discharged."

"That’s wonderful news," Teacher Sherry said, clapping her hands. "We have the day off tomorrow. Does anyone have plans?"

Lu Xiao looked at Teacher Sherry. "Do you have something planned, Teacher?"

"I want to hear yours first," Teacher Sherry replied, not answering directly but letting her gaze sweep over them.

From her expression, it was clear that Teacher Sherry had an idea.

Teacher Ai Li urged her, "If you have an idea, just say it. Why are you keeping us in suspense?"

"I just wanted to see if you had any better suggestions! We have to go to the military district for physicals next week, so we’re bound to be busy for a while. Let’s take these two days to really relax. I heard a resort just opened up over at Blue Lake with a wonderful environment. I’d like to check it out, but it’s no fun going by myself. How about we all go together?"

Hearing this, Lu Xiao’s eyes lit up. "Can we cook our own food there?"

If so, couldn’t they have an outdoor barbecue, a little cookout? The very thought of it was wonderful.
