Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Downgrade

Every S-Class male Lu Xiao had ever treated, including Ares, had a Spirit Sea completely filled with Dark Matter.

She had always believed that the presence of Dark Matter was the main culprit behind the high danger-level assessments of their Spirit Seas.

But Robin’s Spirit Sea, while it contained some Dark Matter, had very little of it. Yet, he was still assessed at the Early Intermediate level, and his spirit silk was far more chaotic.

’So, the real culprit behind the rise in a Beastman’s Spirit Sea danger level isn’t the Dark Matter, but the spirit silk?’

But Lu Xiao felt that conclusion was too simplistic.

She needed to test her hypothesis!

So this time, Lu Xiao decided not to purify Robin’s spirit silk first. Instead, she wanted to completely cleanse the Dark Matter from his Spirit Sea. She wanted to see if his danger-level assessment would drop without the Dark Matter.

If it dropped, it would prove that Dark Matter did affect a Beastman’s Spirit Sea. If the value didn’t change, then what was the purpose of the Dark Matter’s existence?

However, even with the recent increase in her purification power, it was impossible to cleanse all the Dark Matter from Robin’s Spirit Sea in one go. It would take at least three sessions.

Even so, after clearing away about a third of it, the assessment value for Robin’s Spirit Sea on the monitoring instrument changed.

It was just as she’d thought; the Dark Matter did have an effect on the Spirit Sea. Lu Xiao surmised that if she cleared all the Dark Matter from Robin’s Spirit Sea, his danger level would likely return to a normal Early Stage.

Twenty minutes later, Robin awoke. Like all the others, he looked dazed at first. As his senses returned, he said in astonishment, "I actually fell asleep. That’s incredible."

Lu Xiao smiled at him. "That’s all for today’s treatment. Remember our deal. See you next time."

She didn’t linger. After the escorting officer entered, Lu Xiao left the treatment room.

After she left, Robin came out of the treatment room and immediately asked Vilke, "Did Healer Lu make a deal with you, too?"

Vilke, being a talkative person, responded in surprise, "She made one with you, too?"

Robin nodded. "She said she’ll bring me something she cooked next time, and she asked me to tell her what my specialty dish is."

Vilke’s eyes widened. "Healer Lu knows how to cook?"

"I couldn’t believe it either, but she said making good food is her hobby."

"Healer Lu is the most incredible female I’ve ever met. Her deal with me was that I should go back and think hard about what I want to do after I get out of here. What do you think she means by that?"

"Does she think you might be cured and be able to leave the S-Class Shelter?" A sharp glint appeared in Robin’s eyes as he looked at him.

His words were so striking that even the officers escorting them glanced over.

Vilke shook his head. "How’s that possible? Ever since the S-Class Shelter was established, no one has ever been able to leave."

’How could he possibly be the lucky one?’

The others didn’t say anything more. After all, it wasn’t something they dared to even imagine.

But even so, Vilke and Robin felt like they were in a dream on the way back.

And after the two of them returned, Lu Xiao’s reputation within the S-Class Shelter grew even greater.

Lu Xiao, however, was still unaware of this.

Just then, Lu Xiao returned to her office from the treatment room and immediately checked the messages on her terminal.

Sure enough, Ares had sent her the test report: "Spirit Sea Danger Level Assessment: B-"

If she recalled correctly, Ares’s Spirit Sea danger level had been A, and it had been extremely close to S-Class.

But now, his Spirit Sea danger-level assessment was only B-! It had actually dropped!

And by so much!

Lu Xiao couldn’t help but smile and replied to Ares: "Congratulations!"

Ares didn’t reply immediately. He was currently in the office of his superior, Admiral Kula Peng, being questioned.

Every officer’s Spirit Sea danger-level assessment report was automatically uploaded to the terminal of the head of their respective military district.

As the head of the Seventh Military District, Admiral Kula Peng had weathered many storms in his fifty-plus years, but when he saw Ares’s danger-level assessment, it was the first time he had ever seen a Spirit Sea’s danger level actually decrease.

He personally contacted the examination room to ask if their equipment was malfunctioning.

When they confirmed it was not a malfunction but real data, he immediately summoned Ares. He needed to ask him personally what was going on.

Ares knew exactly why Admiral Kula Peng had summoned him. "Since getting married, my wife has been performing Spiritual Soothing on me every day. That’s probably the reason my spiritual danger level has dropped."

"You’re saying your wife performs Spiritual Soothing for you every single night?" Even though Kula Peng himself had a good relationship with his wife—and he was a main husband—he only received Spiritual Soothing once a week. Every day was a level of care he could barely imagine.

Besides, his wife was always exhausted after performing Spiritual Soothing for him.

’Once a week is already like that, so once a day... Just how much does Ares’s wife love him?’

’That’s right,’ he thought. ’Back when that female applied directly to the Seventh Military District to have Ares as a side husband, everyone assumed she’d be some domineering type who wouldn’t care about a male’s wishes. It seems we were all wrong.’

’But if that’s the case, why was she only willing to give Ares the position of a side husband? That part still doesn’t make sense.’

"Yes, sir."

"Since you’ve found such a good wife, you must treasure her, Ares. On another note, with Spiritual Soothing once a day, isn’t she exhausted? A female’s constitution is very fragile. You need to know when to exercise restraint, Ares."

Ares froze at the admiral’s words. He suddenly realized that he had no idea what Lu Xiao was like after performing Spiritual Soothing for him every day.

’Is she exhausted?’

He was always asleep by then.

Noticing the astonishment on Ares’s face, Kula Peng couldn’t help but ask, "What is it? What’s on your mind?"

"No, sir. I just realized... I’m not a very competent side husband. I fall asleep every time after the Spiritual Soothing, so I never check on my wife’s condition. You’re right, a female’s constitution is fragile. I shouldn’t be so thoughtless."

"Wait, what did you just say? You fall asleep every time she performs Spiritual Soothing? Is that true? Were you able to sleep even before your level dropped to B-?"

Insomnia, the inability to sleep, was a problem that plagued nearly every male.

Even if medication could help to some extent, falling asleep with the help of drugs was completely different from falling asleep naturally.
