Healing a Fallen S-Rank Beastman: Everyone Fights Over the Little Female-Chapter 76: Kelan
Lu Ge Wei felt Lu Xiao was being passive-aggressive, but she had no proof because Lu Xiao was simply telling the truth. In their household, aside from Admiral Clan, it was a fact that no other males were allowed at the dinner table.
She had no comeback for that. For some reason, she hadn’t won a single one of her recent confrontations with Lu Xiao.
She’d never imagined Lu Xiao could be so sharp-tongued.
"So now you’re happy, aren’t you? Antagonizing me at every turn." Lu Ge Wei glared at her impatiently, as if Lu Xiao were some disobedient child.
Lu Xiao put on an innocent expression. "Mother, why would you think that of me? I suppose that’s just the kind of person I am in your eyes. Fine. I won’t say another word from now on."
Seeing Lu Xiao put on such a hurt expression, Lu Ge Wei immediately waved a dismissive hand. "Fine, all of you, get out! Don’t be an eyesore!"
’Every single one of them is so troublesome!’
Lu Ge Wei, who had originally intended to lecture the young females and assert her authority as an elder, not only failed to get the upper hand but also ended up furious.
She quickly shooed them all away.
And so, the three of them left the study. The moment the door closed, Lu Huan reached out and linked arms with Lu Xiao. "Sis, thank you! If you hadn’t spoken up for me, I would’ve never known I could ask Mother for a reward for this!"
"Well, now you’ve learned. Remember it for next time!" ’Since the kid did well, she deserved some encouragement,’ Lu Xiao thought. ’It’s just that the money certainly wasn’t coming from me. The only suitable candidate was Lu Ge Wei.’
Walking behind them, Lu Yu watched the two link arms and chat intimately, her eyes wide with surprise. She trotted over to them. "When did you two get so close? You went to Lu Huan’s parent-teacher conference, so why didn’t you go to mine?"
Lu Yu’s tone was completely entitled, exactly like Lu Huan used to be.
Lu Xiao couldn’t help but laugh. "And why should I go to yours? Are we that familiar with each other?"
"Are you that familiar with Lu Huan, then?" Lu Yu tilted her head up. She was still young, with a childish face, looking for all the world like a spoiled, undisciplined brat.
"More than with you." ’If I can handle Lu Ge Wei, I can certainly handle a little brat like her.’
Speaking from experience, Lu Huan quickly tugged on Lu Yu’s arm. "Talk to Sis nicely. You didn’t tell her beforehand, so how was she supposed to know when your parent-teacher conference was?"
"Then couldn’t she have just asked me?" Lu Yu retorted, turning to Lu Huan with an expression that clearly said it was their fault for not attending her conference.
Lu Huan couldn’t help but wonder, ’Was I really that annoying back then?’
’No wonder Lu Xiao never treated me well back then. I really was a total pain!’
"Why are you both so quiet? Nothing to say?" Seeing Lu Huan and Lu Xiao fall silent, Lu Yu grew even more smug, assuming she had gained the upper hand.
Lu Huan rolled her eyes. "We just don’t feel like talking to you. Think whatever you want. Sis isn’t obligated to go to your conference. Let’s go, Sis."
Lu Xiao looked at Lu Huan, who seemed to have grown up so much, and felt a sense of relief.
Seeing Lu Huan grab Lu Xiao’s hand to leave, Lu Yu panicked and ran after them. "You’re ganging up on me! I’m telling Mother!"
"Then go ahead! We’re not stopping you!" Lu Huan now understood exactly how Lu Xiao must have felt when dealing with her past self. ’Thank goodness I’ve changed,’ she thought. ’I was so annoying.’
’Not only self-centered and arrogant, but a total tattletale, too. Running to Mom the second anything went wrong!’
’Thinking back on how I used to be, the fact that Lu Xiao was still willing to teach me... *sob*... How could Lu Xiao be so wonderful!’
Lu Xiao hadn’t expected Lu Huan to have picked up some of her own flair for comebacks. It seemed she was learning from experience.
Lu Yu couldn’t take it. Growing up, no one had ever dared treat her like this, but she couldn’t win an argument against Lu Huan. In a fit of pique, she burst into tears. "WAAAH! I’m not playing with you anymore! All you know how to do is bully me!"
Watching Lu Yu run off in tears, Lu Huan snorted. "Don’t worry, Sis. She’s not that fragile."
’I’ve been there myself, so of course I know how it is.’
You could say that Lu Yu’s current performance—the crying, the tantrums, the threats—was just a replay of all her own old tricks.
With Lu Huan there to teach Lu Yu a lesson, Lu Xiao wasn’t about to get involved.
She knew it was better to let sleeping dogs lie.
Back upstairs, Lu Xiao and Lu Huan parted ways and went to their respective rooms.
Ares saw her push the door open and immediately got to his feet. "Are you alright?"
"What’s not to be alright about? You know me. Do I ever let myself get the short end of the stick?" Lu Xiao replied to Ares with a smile. Then she noticed the bedding was still creased in the same way from before she left. Apparently, Ares had been sitting here waiting for her all this time. "Why didn’t you lie down for a while?"
"I’m not tired." Ares knew Lu Xiao asked because she cared about him, and that was enough for him.
"After we have dinner with Admiral Clan, we’ll go home. I don’t feel at ease here. Come lie down with me for a bit; I’m tired!"
Lu Xiao knew that if she didn’t say something, Ares would likely just keep sitting there. He might not feel tired, but she felt tired just watching him.
Of course, Ares wasn’t going to refuse.
Perhaps it was the sense of security she felt with Ares by her side, but Lu Xiao fell asleep in no time.
Ares gazed at the young female sleeping defenselessly in his arms, his eyes filled with tenderness.
「Admiral Clan didn’t return until after dark.」
When Lu Ge Wei heard he had returned, she gave a cold snort and instructed the butler, "Prepare dinner. He certainly has some nerve, making everyone wait for him." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
The butler heard this but didn’t dare to comment, simply acknowledging the order and leaving to make the preparations.
Meanwhile, Lu Xiao had already gotten the message. After freshening up, she went downstairs with Ares.
Their timing was perfect as they entered the dining room. Admiral Clan was already there, seated beside Lu Ge Wei. His eyes paused for a moment when he saw Lu Xiao enter with Ares, and he then watched as she led Ares to a seat at the table.
This wasn’t the first time Lu Ge Wei had seen this, so she managed to remain relatively calm.
It was Lu Yu, who had just entered the dining room, who reacted. Seeing Ares seated at the table just like her Father, she frowned. "Sister has no manners at all. How can just anyone be brought to the dinner table?"
"What’s this? Has the ’no males at the dinner table’ rule been passed down to your generation now?" Lu Xiao said, sweeping a casual glance over Lu Yu. The implication was unmistakable, and even someone as young as Lu Yu understood it perfectly.
After all, in their household, no males besides Admiral Clan were allowed at the table—a rule established by Lu Ge Wei.
Of course, this was largely the case in the households of other females as well.
"That’s enough. Since you’re here, sit down. Can’t even a meal keep your mouths shut?"
Lu Ge Wei slapped the table impatiently, and the large dining room finally fell silent.
Admiral Clan, who had remained silent off to the side, kept his eyes fixed on Lu Xiao and Ares, his expression unreadable.
