Healing a Fallen S-Rank Beastman: Everyone Fights Over the Little Female-Chapter 85: The Only One
"We think so. More than that, we’re finding that treating patients in the initial Early Stage isn’t as difficult as it used to be. It feels like our own spiritual power has increased. We’re going to get tested—Lu Xiao, will you come with us?"
Lu Xiao was also quite curious to see if the four teachers’ spiritual power had truly improved, so she nodded. As for herself, however, she didn’t have high hopes.
After all, her situation was different from theirs.
The test only required a small blood sample.
After lunch, the results came in. The four teachers, who were originally at B-level spiritual power, now had reports showing they had all reached B+. There was a definite improvement.
The four teachers were thrilled. They crowded around Lu Xiao, but when they saw that the report in her hand still showed her spiritual power level as C, they couldn’t quite believe it.
"Dear, your spiritual power level is really only C?"
"I thought Xiao Xiao was always A-level?"
"Could the machine be wrong?"
...
Hearing this, Lu Xiao didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. The four teachers suspected the machine was faulty before they ever suspected that she was the one with the problem.
For a moment, she was deeply touched.
"The machine is fine. It’s always been C. Maybe my spiritual power mutated. But isn’t that fine? It doesn’t stop me from eating or drinking, and I can still treat patients. As long as it doesn’t cause any problems, it’s okay."
"That’s right, as long as it doesn’t cause problems. And I do feel that Xiao Xiao’s spiritual power is different from ours, though I can’t quite put my finger on how. Even if it did mutate, it must be for the better," Teacher Sherry said gently, clearly worried that Lu Xiao might be bothered by it.
Teacher Ai Li, however, was thinking further ahead. "Xiao Xiao’s situation... we shouldn’t mention this to anyone. It’s enough that the few of us know. If anyone asks, just say Lu Xiao’s spiritual power is A-level. And Lu Xiao, you shouldn’t get tested again. Destroy all the data on the machine, including the report in your hand."
Hearing Teacher Ai Li’s words, everyone immediately understood her intentions.
Lu Xiao smiled at Teacher Ai Li. "Thank you."
"It’s the right thing to do. Xiao Xiao, you’re young. We don’t go around hurting people, but we have to guard against people trying to hurt us. Don’t talk about your personal situation when you’re out and about." Teacher Ai Li was worried about Lu Xiao, concerned that her youth made her susceptible to being tricked, so she made a point of warning her.
Lu Xiao reached out and hugged her. "I will."
For some reason, she felt a gentle, motherly warmth from Teacher Ai Li.
It made one instinctively want to be close to her.
Teacher Ai Li not only formatted the machine’s data but also drafted a new onboarding test report for Lu Xiao.
She wasn’t sure if anyone would come to investigate, but it was best to be fully prepared. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
「Later that day」
Lu Xiao contacted Admiral Hans and arranged a time to visit Dean.
Over the comms, Hans elaborated on Dean’s condition over the past week.
Ever since his last treatment, after his Half-beastification state was lifted, he hadn’t shown any signs of it for the entire week.
The instruments monitoring him showed that all his vitals were stable.
Dean was still living alone, but he had a large garden where he could read, do puzzles, and build models every day. In his spare time, he could also tend to the flowers. If he even wanted food from outside, the sanctuary had set up a special channel for him.
You could say that as long as his requests weren’t excessive, his every need was met.
Life was very comfortable.
Even Hans felt a twinge of envy whenever he visited.
He figured that even after retirement, it would be difficult to have such a leisurely life, where he could do whatever he wanted.
Dean had even put on some weight.
It was simply incredible.
When Ares came in, he saw Lu Xiao gazing at the information on her terminal, a gentle and beautiful smile on her face.
He couldn’t help but feel curious. "What are you smiling about?"
Hearing his voice, Lu Xiao looked up. Her beautiful dark eyes reflected his image, and the feeling of being watched so intently filled Ares with pleasure.
"Dean’s condition is getting better and better. It proves my Release Therapy was the right call. If his progress continues smoothly, I’m thinking... maybe we can create more environments like his within the sanctuary."
’Turn the sanctuary into an Eden Garden.’
As she said this, Lu Xiao probably didn’t realize how beautiful she looked. Her whole being seemed to be glowing.
It made it impossible to look away; all one wanted to do was gaze at her.
Lu Xiao belatedly noticed the heat of Ares’s gaze. She froze for a second, then blushed.
She wasn’t a complete blank slate anymore; she knew exactly what a look like that from Ares meant.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Is your mating season here again?"
’Counting the days... the month isn’t over yet. Ares’s mating season couldn’t be early, could it?’
’Do mating seasons even come early?’
Ares’s lips curved into a slight smile as he leaned in, resting his forehead against Lu Xiao’s. "Would my Mistress hate my advances?"
Suddenly hearing the word "advances," the tips of Lu Xiao’s ears turned completely red. She had a vague idea of what was about to happen. She wasn’t against it; in fact, there was even a faint, imperceptible flicker of anticipation.
Seeing that Lu Xiao didn’t pull away, Ares tentatively kissed her.
He wanted her. So, so badly.
It felt as if only by becoming one with her could he prove that she was truly his.
Some things, it seems, you get better at with practice.
When Lu Xiao woke up the next morning, she felt like her body had already started to adapt. She wasn’t as exhausted as she had been after the first time.
She didn’t even need to use her purification power to recover.
When she went downstairs, Ares had breakfast ready as usual. He had graduated from simple sandwiches to a wide variety of different, ever-changing breakfast dishes.
Seeing Lu Xiao, Ares was quick to pull out a chair for her. "Are you okay?"
Knowing what he really meant by "are you okay," her cheeks grew warm, and she gave a small nod.
Seeing this, Ares didn’t press the issue. He knew that when it came to certain things, Lu Xiao was uncharacteristically less open than other females.
She was easily embarrassed.
After breakfast, the hovercar from the sanctuary arrived at the door, with Teacher Ai Li there to pick her up.
Ares personally saw her to the car, and just before the door closed, he said, "I’ll come get you later."
Lu Xiao smiled back. "Okay, I’ll message you beforehand."
Teacher Ai Li, sitting on the other side, leaned over. "Don’t you worry, Ares. We’ll take good care of Xiao Xiao for you."
Hearing this, Ares’s expression softened. He smiled gratefully at Teacher Ai Li. "Then I’ll have to trouble you."
"It’s no trouble at all. It’s what we’re supposed to do, anyway."
Because of how much Lu Xiao cared for Ares, everyone at the Fifth Research Institute treated him with an added layer of respect.
They didn’t look down on him for his status as a side husband. On the contrary, they held him in higher regard than even a main husband.
They all knew that to Lu Xiao, Ares’s official status didn’t matter at all. He would be her one and only partner.
