Hearts System: 1000 Ways to Tell CEO I Love You-Chapter 13: Dedicated Spaces (2)
"Why is it here?" Luellen gasped.
She quickly washed her hands to remove the lather before reaching for the cupboard to the side. The partitions were almost empty, but she found a hairdryer and a purse. When she opened the purse, she found her makeup set inside.
"What?"
Luellen looked around. She brought the purse down and walked to the shower. At the hanging grid shelf, her shampoo and her body wash waited for their next use. Even her familiar-looking body scrub hung below the shelf. Luellen frowned.
"Why are they here? Aren’t they supposed to be at my place? There’s no way his guest room is using the same things!"
The maiden could only break her thoughts when the lather on her face dripped on her eye. She shrieked and hurried to the sink. Luellen washed off the soap and stared at her reflection. Her face seemed to have a youthful glow.
[Pro tip! Dedicated spaces to the Diarist will be temporarily affected by the system. Hotel and guest rooms will be treated as dedicated spaces when the sole occupant is the Diarist. System amenities and items will be temporarily available for use.]
Luellen’s eyes flickered. She then chuckled and shook her head. "...won’t Mr Leander find it strange if I can still do my perfect makeup here?"
The system’s silence was like a shoulder shrug. Luellen only continued with her new skincare routine before bed. At ten-thirty, she was fast asleep with Sydney leaning against her tummy. Luellen even had a sleeping eye mask with bunny ears.
...
Whispers were in the wind when Luellen roused from her sleep. Her body woke up first, dragging her mind up with it through her senses. What made her heart pound was the system’s first prompt.
[Warning! An intruder is in your dedicated space! Items will dissolve in five seconds!]
Luellen’s eyes tore open. She grabbed the eye mask off and saw a person settling on the bed beside her. However, the queen bed was big enough for him not to reach her easily from the other side. At her sudden action, the man froze as if caught red-handed. Still, he just continued lying down with a laugh.
"Wow, aren’t you a light sleeper?" He chuckled, lying down with difficulty. He patted the bed space between them. "It’s okay. Continue sleeping. I’m not here to do anything bad."
"Who are you?" Luellen sat up. She didn’t want to sleep beside a random person, more a random man. "Did Mr Leander let you in?"
The man laughed, clutching his abdomen, as if the slightest laugh hurt him. "Did he? I bet he’s still dreaming of whatever he dreams about in his room. Look, I also have keys to our house. I don’t have to wake him up for that."
Sydney, whom Luellen didn’t notice at first, ran up to the man. She got low and wiggled against him with her back on the sheets.
"See? Even Sydney Baby wants to sleep more. Let’s be quiet now." The man laughed again and carefully hugged the teacup. "Shhh, it’s okay, Sydney. Daddy’s home now."
"Daddy?" Luellen stared at the man longer, soon noticing his resemblance to Leander. The maiden gasped again, but she covered her mouth. She didn’t know how to react properly. It seemed that Sydney’s pet parent, Beckett Wentworth, had gone earlier than she thought he would.
At her soft sound, Beckett opened his eyes again. He looked at her and smiled meaningfully. "I don’t normally let girls sleep on my bed, but you get a pass, I think."
Luellen shivered at that smile. She moved away, only to notice that her system pajama had vanished. She was only left with her camisole. With the blanket covering her bottom half, her thighs and her underwear didn’t show. Luellen only hugged herself more and wondered how to leave without being stared at.
It didn’t matter. The man on the bed closed his eyes again and stroked the small dog, who moved to his face. He would even inhale the scent of Sydney’s fur.
"Ms Piper?" Leander’s voice came from the door. He banged on the panel twice as if those were his knocks. Sydney even reacted to it, rolling and getting on Beckett’s face for real. The CEO, however, cared too little and opened the door. "Beck!"
"Mr Leander!" Luellen shrieked when Leander swung the door open. She had just gotten up, hoping to hide in the bathroom.
Leander swept his gaze to the side to find her. Luellen could only pull on her camisole to cover past her waist. The man looked away and slowly closed the door. However, it stopped halfway, just obscuring her from his view. The man’s voice rang out again as he glared heavily at the other person on the bed.
He hissed. "Beck! Get out. Did you not see her inside? Why are you in bed? And why are you out of the hospital already?"
Beckett picked up Sydney and sat, facing away from the ensuite. He rubbed his head. "So loud...! It’s not even five in the morning yet, Andy. How could Sydney sleep if you barged into rooms like that? This is even my bedroom..."
"I don’t care. Get..." Leander took a deep breath and walked inside the room. He quickly grabbed Beckett off the bed and carried him.
"Hey, hey! What are you doing? I’m injured! I’m also very heavy!" Beckett laughed, only to have Sydney jump off his belly. "Ow..."
"Don’t worry. I only have to carry you for a few seconds."
Thump! Luellen watched the brothers from the gap in the ensuite’s door. Leander carried Beckett outside the room. That loud thud must be the poor brother falling to the floor outside. Leander then closed the door after letting Sydney out, so she could follow her daddy.
[The intruders have gone away! System items and amenities will return in 5 seconds!]
Luellen’s eyes flickered. She closed the door and noticed a visible shift in the ensuite. The otherwise manly bathroom changed into one that catered to a woman. Luellen stared at the shower before pulling off her camisole.
"System, can you subtract the bedroom from the dedicated space? I’m only using the ensuite." Luellen got into the shower to get ready for work. "I don’t want my makeup kit to vanish just because Mr Beckett walked back inside his room."
[Request denied!]
"Can you lock the doors instead? Just for a few minutes." Luellen sighed within her. "I don’t want to get caught up in that situation again."
...
Luellen waddled along the hallway. She didn’t realize that even her closet could be transported. Her clothes were not classified as system items. Hence, they stayed with her. It just felt strange whenever she looked at her reflection. Would someone notice that she wore a different blouse under her blazer today?
She arrived in the dining room, which was connected to the kitchen. Leander was eating breakfast at the table, while Beckett stood before the stove. One hand was on his abdomen as if consoling his stitches.
The jollier brother gazed at her and smiled. "Ms Piper! Good morning!"
