Chapter 18: Little Lady, You’re Beautiful

Leander picked up his papers again. "Now that it’s settled, you should work on your other assignments. Do you see that table to my left? It’s filled with files I should be working on. The ones here in front of me are already checked and separated. But they are not as important as the upcoming bidding.

"The cabinet to my right has a lot of empty spaces. The files inside were also left disorganized." He glanced at Luellen. "I think you already know what I mean for you to do."

"Yes, sir!" Luellen stopped wearing her blazer halfway. She ended up taking it off again. Her lithe figure walked to the cabinet and worked on it first. After all, she needed a place to put the finished documents.

It might not be much, but this was indeed within an intern’s job scope.

...

Day 3 passed without any other issues. Everyone managed to go home on time. Luellen finished organizing the cabinet’s contents that afternoon. On Day 4, she borrowed the lounge in the inner office to sort the files. Her hands moved fluidly, almost as swiftly as her eyes, which skimmed through the documents.

Normal office drama played on Day 5. However, Luellen had the excuse to stay inside Leander’s office. She had to continue decluttering the CEO’s office. After all, the end of the month was fast approaching. The same could be said about the bidding date.

Luellen finished categorizing three folders, but Houston and Madam Henny would deliver five each. Work never ended for the poor intern.

Just when the afternoon slowed, Shirley just had to mess up again.

"Gala, my office," Leander said as soon as he walked inside the outer office. He had just arrived with Madam Henny from a meeting.

"Do you need documents?" Galaxy flinched and quickly saved her work. She would grab a few things, but Leander swung the inner office’s door open. He said without looking, "No, just you."

The CEO gazed at the intern on his couch. "Ms Piper, set those aside and step out for a bit. I need the office."

Luellen quickly closed the document she reviewed. She gathered her things and left as if she’d been kicked out. Then again, Luellen met Galaxy’s derisive gaze on her way out.

The older woman even had a smile on her red lips. When she passed Luellen, she slightly flipped her hair. Even without a slapping force, her perfumed hair still got on Luellen’s face. Victorious, she felt nothing but victorious.

"What was she celebrating?" Luellen whispered to herself. She arrived at the lounge in the room. She felt Shirley’s glare on her body again.

Instead of ignoring it, Luellen turned to face her. The maiden was exhausted from receiving files from three people. Most files even had more than fifty pages. Her eyes were already tired, and her arms ached from carrying all that paper. If Shirley wanted to bulge her eyes out, Luellen would even catch them with a piece of tissue.

Luellen walked toward Shirley’s desk and then behind the other intern. She leaned down to see the open document. "What do you need me to fix?"

"What...? What are you talking about?" Shirley panicked at Luellen’s boldness. She glanced at Madam Henny before shoving Luellen out of sight. "Get away from me! I’m not asking you for help!"

"Okay." Luellen stepped back as soon as she felt Shirley shove her. She walked to the couch and sat down. Instead of looking for something to do, she took the time to rest.

That was out of character for Luellen. Even Madam Henny and Houston exchanged gazes at her action. It was way worse for Shirley, who shrank and hid her head from them. Could these two have been cooperating despite their unwillingness?

Houston cleared his throat and looked at Luellen. "Ms Piper...? You have been stuck in the office. Want to stretch your legs and run an errand for me?"

"Do I have to carry a mountain of folders?" Luellen couldn’t help but chuckle. It was fine. Houston saw her trying to move an impossible pile from the table to the lounge.

"No, but if you can get a file from them, it would be great." Houston scribbled on a piece of memo pad. "Here, this is the office and name you have to find. Introduce yourself as an intern from the CEO’s office. They should know what I need from them. It was due hours ago, and all they give me are excuses."

Luellen nodded and got off the couch. She collected the paper and frowned. The office... was in the furthest building from the central tower.

It didn’t matter. Luellen just smiled and took her phone with her. She would take her bag, but Madam Henny kept it in her station. It only added weight to Luellen’s shoulder anyway. Not that Luellen needed it all the time, too.

The maiden left the office and rode the elevator to the fifteenth floor. She gazed at the beautiful garden as she walked. Some people loitered inside, but Luellen cared too little about them. She would just drop by some other day. The maiden got on the other elevator and pressed the first-floor button.

"Lue?"

"Hm?" Luellen felt so exhausted that she almost fell asleep on her feet. The elevator only had her on the fifteenth floor. When it stopped on the tenth floor, Luellen saw Summer on the other side. Her best friend then hopped in with a big smile.

"Hey! What happened to not showing shape in the company?" Summer laughed as she stood beside Luellen. She then nudged Luellen’s hip with hers. "No blazer?"

Luellen flinched and looked down at herself. She forgot her blazer in the inner office. Her silky white blouse even hugged her torso pretty fairly. Paired with her office skirt, Luellen seemingly put on an outfit she didn’t want to be seen in.

A blush ran across Luellen’s face. She crossed her arms over her chest. She said in a panicked voice, "Uh! It’s, uh! I was dealing with a lot of carrying and moving. My blazer and ruffles often get caught in the papers. I have to wear something convenient! Oh, no... Will I get cited for indecency?"

"Indecency? Don’t you see what Shirley and her aunt wear to your office?" Summer laughed and shook her head. She looked down at her long-sleeved, flowy, floral blouse. "I would offer to exchange with you, but what if the elevator opens?"

"Even if it doesn’t, they have cameras inside elevators!" Luellen even gazed at the camera hidden on a top panel.

Summer chuckled and patted Luellen’s back. "I’m not serious, girl. Your blouse won’t fit me. My sisters can’t breathe in that."

Luellen flinched and looked at Summer. She would ask about the sisters, only for her to gaze down at Summer’s chest. Oh, right. Her best friend’s clothes had always been too loose on her. They had to be wide to accommodate Summer’s full bosom.

The maiden might have gotten fat from her three-month grief. However, her clothes still couldn’t reach that level of wideness.

"Cheer up, little lady! You’re beautiful!" Summer drew a smile on her lips. She then walked out when the elevator opened on the first floor.
