Heaven Refining physique-Chapter 90: Fenglai
Chapter 90: Fenglai
He went near it and nudged it with his leg. The tiger sprang up in shock, looked around warily, and when its eyes fell on Jiang Hao, it became stunned.
Jiang Hao had already removed his mask so it could recognize him at a glance. Its eyes shined, and it jumped at him.
Jiang Hao shook his head and dodged it.
"Stop it, you are not a little cub, and I don’t have a second pair of clothes."
He had forgotten to buy new ones while he was in the city. He should have bought them before he left.
"Grrrww..."
"It’s been only a year. Stop being dramatic over it. Come, let’s check how much you’ve improved."
It had reached the Mid Stage of Foundation Establishment realm in just a year. It was good progress for a beast.
"This beast has a good bloodline. It is rare for it to be present in this world."
Jiang Hao knew that it had quite a good bloodline, but for even Senior Yin Ni to compliment it, it must be extraordinary.
"Grrrahhhh..."
"Go ahead, use your full strength."
After listening to Jiang Hao, the tiger jumped at him at full speed and swiped at him with its claws. Jiang Hao didn’t dodge but used his finger to block it.
After blocking it, he smirked.
"This is your full strength? Pity."
The tiger became stunned and looked at him carefully. It still couldn’t see through his cultivation realm.
"Don’t try. I am already a Grade 3."
"Grrrrww..."
"Don’t look sad. Here."
Jiang Hao took out lots of spirit herbs at the Foundation Establishment realm, and also some at the Core Formation realm.
The tiger’s eyes lit up.
If he could, he would have taken it with him, but if he did, there would be some problems.
First, they would only be crossing 5,000 miles inside the forest, which was the center of the Dark Forest.
Even he might not be able to survive that deep, even with his peerless instincts, much less with this fellow.
Second, even if they somehow made it to the forbidden zone, hiding from the spirit sense of high-level beasts would become an issue.
Although spirit sense is said to not be able to sense things without spirit qi or any type of qi inside, that only applies with respect to strength and range.
If you are too close, then even things without any type of spirit qi would be easily perceived by anyone—movements can be perceived as well.
Not to mention mortals, who have vital energy in them, even if it is little.
Since they were at the borders, with Meiying being Grade 6 was fine, but if a Grade 2 beast without pledging alliance to any of the territory lords was living there, then it would become a problem.
Many beasts would come to attack it, and if they killed all those beasts, then it would definitely reveal their location.
They couldn’t hide the whole mountain with a spirit sense blocking array, as that would be a dead giveaway in itself.
As for mastering skills to block spirit sense, spirit beasts couldn’t do that.
After Jiang Hao sat down, the tiger sat near him, nudging its head at him.
He rubbed it and thought of giving it a name.
"Senior, what laws is its bloodline attuned to?"
He knows that it had definitely thunder related bloodline but maybe there is more.
The tiger looked at him with questioning eyes.
Jiang Hao didn’t pay it attention and waited for Yin Ni to answer. He couldn’t determine its bloodline, but she definitely could.
"It’s thunder and wind."
Jiang Hao thought for a moment and looked at the beast.
"From now on, you will be called Fenglai."
"Grrr..."
Jiang Hao rubbed its head more.
"Fenglai, I will leave again tomorrow, but don’t worry. I will always visit you from now on."
"Grrrh..."
"Leaving him here is a waste of his potential."
"I know, Senior, but there is no other option."
Jiang Hao really couldn’t think of anything else. He could only provide it with spirit herbs whenever he visited.
"True, you really are too weak to do anything. You can’t even use spirit sense. How pitiful."
Jiang Hao became speechless. Was there really a need to say that? Did she just mock him because he had mocked Fenglai too?
She really was quite bored. Why would a senior like her have to pull the leg of a junior who had just started his cultivation journey for only two years?
He didn’t comment on it and pulled Fenglai for another fight. This time, he would use less strength and have a proper bout with it.
They fought for the whole night. Jiang Hao wasn’t aware that his act of destroying Blazing Valley’s shop had caused a massive uproar in the city.
...
There was a man standing in the sky, looking at the place where moments ago, Blazing Valley’s shop used to be.
There was nothing left here. It wasn’t like someone had just destroyed the shop—the whole shop had just vanished, like teleportation.
If not for the people present there, who told him that the shop was destroyed by some unknown attacker with a white mask, he wouldn’t have believed it.
Even more amusing was that the attacker entered a closed alley and hadn’t come out. He had checked it himself—there was no one there.
He was the protector of this city. His cultivation realm was at the Mid Stage of Void Reversion realm.
Even with all his experience, he couldn’t explain just how this shop was destroyed.
He had already sent the news to another city through a talisman.
He was sure that news must have reached the Blazing Valley Sect by now.
Sure enough, just half an hour later, five elders of Blazing Valley arrived in the city.
The leading elder was in the Late Stage of Void Reversion realm. He greeted them and told them what he had just learned.
"Are you even making sense of what you are saying? How can a three-story shop be destroyed that silently?"
"Well, that’s what I heard from them."
He pointed at the group of people standing near the destruction and continued.
"Even standing there, they didn’t hear anything, much less someone far away. There were other people on nearby streets—they didn’t even know what had happened here."
The elders of Blazing Valley were stunned when they heard that.
"Was there any sound isolation array used here?"
They began looking around for clues of it.
"I have already checked everything. There was nothing like that. The attacker, after destroying the shop, vanished too."
All five of them looked at each other with grim expressions.
"Have we made any enemies recently? Because I doubt the Mountain Sword Sect would do this."
"I don’t think so. We were quiet for a while after those geniuses left Mountain Sword Sect. Everything was fine."
"I heard that there’s some feud between us and the new expert alchemist. They even deliberately provoked us during the auction."
"Guessing won’t take us anywhere. We have to discuss with the Sect Master what steps to take next. First, let’s talk to these people."
The lead elder came down to the people who had seen the attack. By now, many people had gathered to see the ruins of the shop. Even at night, the crowd was large.
"You there, you saw it?"
The person was only at the Foundation Establishment realm, so he answered respectfully.
"Yes, Senior. He was wearing a black outfit with a simple white mask."
"What kind of attack did he use?"
"Senior, at first we thought he was throwing a black rock or something, but the moment it landed, everything vanished in about a five-meter radius."
"Vanished? Not burnt to ashes?"
He could have believed it if it had been burnt to the point where even a small breeze would blow the ash away.
Heavenly King Realm cultivators who pursue the Dao of Fire are capable of doing that. It would have perfectly made sense to link this incident to the new expert alchemist, as he might be skilled in the Dao of Fire. But ’vanished’ made it difficult to believe.
...
Morning came, and it was again time to say goodbyes.
"Well, take care and don’t get sad. I will return very soon. With all these herbs, you should be able to reach the peak of Foundation Establishment easily."
"Grrrrrwww..."
Jiang Hao patted its head and disappeared from the valley, marking it too. He appeared in the first city to purchase some clothes for himself.
It was an important matter. If these clothes got damaged, then he wouldn’t have anything left to wear, which would truly be an awkward situation.
He changed his mask to a different one, as news might have already spread about his appearance.
Shops for clothes were nearby the gates. He had purchased from them in the past when he came with the villagers, so he knew them already.
There were some big shops, while others were small. He had always wanted to go to the bigger ones when he was a child, but now he wasn’t really interested.
He just needed basic robes. He wasn’t into luxurious clothes anyway, so he went to his previous shop and bought two pairs of clothes for himself. It cost him in coins instead of spirit stones. He had some, so he easily paid them and left.
It was time to go back.
Since he had already marked the mountain they were living in, he knew where it was. He didn’t have to go through the same route he had come from.
He didn’t know when he would come again, but it wouldn’t be as long as a year.
