Heavenly Dragon Doctor Son-in-Law-Chapter 163 - 164 Furious Li Cong!
Just as Qin Long’s hands were uncontrollably moving to untie Tang Xuewu’s white sash, a frantic voice called out.
"Xuewu, where did you go?"
WHOOSH!
Tang Xuewu pushed Qin Long’s hands away and quickly retied her sash.
However, Zhang Meilan, who had just pushed the door open, saw the entire exchange.
"How could you two!" Zhang Meilan seethed, grinding her teeth and stomping her foot in fury.
"Mom, you misunderstood! We were..." Tang Xuewu quickly tried to explain, terrified that Zhang Meilan had gotten the wrong idea.
Zhang Meilan was a woman of the world, and more importantly, she was Tang Xuewu’s mother. She instantly recognized the intimate nature of the situation but didn’t spell it out directly.
"Qin Long, I’ll pack your things for you. You are to leave the Tang Family immediately."
Zhang Meilan shot a cold glance at Qin Long’s suitcase and started to pack his things herself.
"Mom, how can you do this? Ah Long saved Grandpa!" Tang Xuewu snatched the suitcase away from her, fuming.
"You foolish girl! If it weren’t for the Old Master, I would’ve thrown him out of the Tang Family myself today," Zhang Meilan said, huffing with displeasure.
"Mom, even if he has to leave, we have to wait until he’s fully recovered!" Tang Xuewu argued back firmly.
Speechless, Zhang Meilan huffed and stalked off to another room.
Seeing her mother’s tacit approval, Tang Xuewu finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Ah Long, you can stay in the Tang Family now!" Tang Xuewu exclaimed, jumping up and down with excitement.
Qin Long, however, remained completely calm, not taking the matter seriously at all.
The Tang Family probably thinks that if I leave, I’ll end up homeless, maybe even starve to death. They could never dream that leaving the Tang Family is when I’ll truly begin to soar.
"Are you going to miss me if I leave?" Qin Long asked, giving Tang Xuewu a mischievous look.
"Ah Long, you..." Tang Xuewu turned away, her face flushing. "It’s not like I’m going to miss you!"
Looking at Tang Xuewu’s shy, blushing face, Qin Long felt a surge of warmth in his heart. I’ve never felt the need to explain my actions to anyone in my life. Except for her. For Tang Xuewu, I would abandon all status and power.
「Longquan Hotel, Celestial Platform.」
Li Min’s grandfather was respectfully waiting on two government officials.
Lately, he had been desperately trying to find out who was suppressing the Li Family, someone who had even threatened to force them into bankruptcy and liquidation within seventy-two hours. Li Min stood nearby, her pretty face etched with pensive gravity.
Damn it! That idiot Qin Long must have brought this bad luck on us. Once this is all over, I, Li Min, will definitely find someone to break his other leg! she cursed venomously, her expression turning vicious.
BANG!
Just then, Li Min’s grandfather kicked the door open, his face as cold as ice.
"Grandpa, which bastard is targeting our Li Family?" Li Min asked angrily.
"It’s the mess *you* stirred up, you little brat!" Li Min’s grandfather roared, sending her to the ground with a single kick.
SPURT!
The kick was so powerful that Li Min coughed up a mouthful of blood. It stained her dress, and her face contorted in agony.
"Grandpa, on what grounds are you saying that?" Li Min cried out, momentarily stunned before clutching her chest and roaring in fury.
"On what grounds?!" Li Cong, her grandfather, had a savage expression. "I’ll beat you to death today, you wretched girl!" With that, he delivered another vicious kick.
Li Min collapsed to the ground again, her face a mask of disbelief. What trouble could I possibly have caused?
"Grandpa, I haven’t even been out recently! How could I have offended anyone?" Li Min crawled forward to explain, only to be kicked down again by Li Cong.
"You wretched girl, think! Think hard!" Li Cong glared at Li Min, looking like he wanted to slap her dead on the spot.
In the past few days, all of the Li Family’s real estate projects had been halted and put under inspection. It was no secret that the family had plenty of shady dealings in its past. If any of that were to be exposed now, they would be finished. Normally, Li Cong was confident he could handle such problems. This time, however, the influential figures he usually counted on refused to help. The banks were calling in all of the Li Family’s loans, their projects were frozen, and their partners were demanding compensation for breach of contract. The Li Family was on the verge of bankruptcy and liquidation.
Li Cong knew full well that the Li Family had offended a powerful figure who was now deliberately trying to crush them. He had to find the root of the problem.
He had spent a fortune recently greasing palms and gathering information. Just moments ago, he’d overheard one of the government men mention that Li Min was most likely the culprit behind the Li Family’s troubles. The implication had been unmistakable.
"Director Li, it seems you’ve been a bit lax in disciplining your granddaughter," the official had said, before being hurriedly pulled away by his colleague.
In that instant, Li Cong understood the source of their problems. That wretched girl Li Min had provoked a titan she couldn’t afford to offend!
Li Cong had toiled from his youth into his sixties to build the Li Family to its current status. He had never been stingy with Li Min, buying her any designer bag or luxury car she wanted. And now, this foolish girl had provoked such a powerful figure. Was she trying to drive the Li Family to extinction?
"You wretched girl, you offended a powerful figure, and that’s why we’re being crushed!" he roared. "If you don’t tell me who you provoked, the Li Family can prepare for liquidation, and you can go beg on the streets for all I care!"
Li Cong smashed the cup in his hand, glaring at Li Min.
"Grandpa, I..." Li Min trailed off, the severity of the situation finally dawning on her as she sank deep into thought.
Usually, I just follow Bai He around, and he takes care of any trouble that comes up. Who could I have possibly offended that even Bai He can’t handle? I can’t think of anyone... Could it be Yan Hong? Or that Director Zhang?
"Grandpa, last time... I accidentally offended a friend of Yan Hong’s..." A wave of fear washed over Li Min as she recalled the incident. After all, if that idiot Qin Long hadn’t stepped in that day, Yan Hong would never have let me off so easily!
"Yan Hong? Which Yan Hong?" Li Cong’s brow furrowed.
"It’s... Sister Hong, from the Jiangzhong underground..." Li Min said, clenching her fists and steeling herself.
"Her?!" Li Cong shot up from his seat, his face contorted with rage.
"You reckless girl! How dare you provoke such a formidable woman? Were you kicked in the head by a donkey? Don’t you understand that Yan Hong holds a grudge over the smallest slight? And behind her is the titan Yang Fei, the Scorpion Queen! How could you be so blind?
"Furthermore, the former queen of the underground was recently taken out by Han Bing. Yang Fei is on a whole different level now; she’s the true empress of Jiangzhong. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Before, I might have been able to plead with her for mercy. Now, I doubt I could even get an audience with her!
"And you dared to provoke a woman like that?"
The more Li Cong thought about it, the angrier he became. He stalked over and gave Li Min two more vicious kicks.
"Grandpa, I..." Li Min was overwhelmed with a regret so bitter her insides twisted.
Damn it! That bastard Qin Long must have slandered me in front of Sister Hong. No wonder Yan Hong let him go so easily. That good-for-nothing framed me for everything!
