HEIRESS REBORN: MARRYING HER EX-FIANCÉ-Chapter 105: The Post (2)
’’That’s it Eve...Now give a small twirl....’’
’’Chin up more.....look more confident...’’
’’You’re auditioning for the female lead who loves to dance right?’’
In the dance studio of the Kingston entertainment company, Evelyn was doing her dance practice under the watchful eyes of the company’s hired dance teacher.
Her forehead glistened with sweat under the daylight and her lips released a small sharp inhale and gasps.
’’I’m planning to go for the audition if my schedule and manager permit.’’ She responded with a smile and did the last steps of the dance before bending forward with her hands on her knees. 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Dancing was not her great expertise, so she had to put in more efforts, especially if she wanted to win an upcoming audition rumored to be funded with a huge budget and overseen by one of the top directors in the entertainment industry.
’’Then I hope you win the audition. No, what am I even saying? You will definitely win the audition.’’ The dance teacher cheered sincerely.
’’Thank you, ma’am.’’ Evelyn appreciated the kind words that she needed at heart before moving to her water bottle on the side of the studio. She uncapped the water bottle and drank water to her full satisfaction this time.....unlike her previous sips.
’’But...Eve....Will Miss Bella be present at the audition?’’ The dance teacher asked, hesitantly. Her voice was tinged with concern, and she had a good reason for her question.
Of all the actresses and actors she had taught as a dance teacher for years, Evelyn was very different from them and a very hardworking actress.
Despite having some fame and a rising career, the young lady had not deluded herself with a sense of entitlement like other artists with whom she had experienced their growth.
From innocence to tainted.
That’s her description of artists and their growth in the entertainment industry.
When she met them, they were kind, hopeful, yet anxious because they were fresh and new to the entertainment industry. After the fame and popularity, they lost their respect and looked down on everyone, including her.
Evelyn was perhaps one of the few actresses who still retained her innocence and self despite being in the industry for more than five years now.
Evelyn was also her student and a very kind one at that. It couldn’t be helped that she regarded the rising actress as a cute younger sister.
’’....No, I don’t think so.’’ A reply came after a moment of silence.
Evelyn looked back with a small smile and the water bottle in her hand. ’’Even if Bella participates in the audition, I believe the director will choose the best. Our acting skills will surely be in the competition, but not our friendship.’’
Besides....even Arabella wanted to participate in the audition as the female lead, she might not necessarily win the spot. Especially if the female lead was a character who loved dancing more than anything.
Arabella was one who hated breaking a sweat.
A typical privileged young miss from birth.
Top directors also disliked artists, especially the top ones using substitutes. It was like a direct slap and disrespect to their faces.
’’You’re absolutely right, Eve.’’ The dance teacher agreed. ’’Your friendship with Miss Bella is what matters most.’’ She then apologized. ’’Forgive me for being a bit nosy. I was just worried because you’re practicing this much.’’
Actress Bella was rumored to buy her way through audition roles, especially female lead roles. Hardworking actresses like Evelyn could never beat the likes of Actress Bella, backed by a prestigious, wealthy family with mere efforts.
In this industry, powerful connections are akin to oxygen for one’s career to make a living and flourish more than ever.
’’It’s alright, ma’am. I understand.’’ Evelyn understood what the dance teacher was implying to her and worried about. However, she wanted this conversation to end right at this moment.
Evelyn turned back to her unfinished water and screwed its cap before placing the water bottle on the floor.
’’Can we do one more practice, ma’am?’’ She stood upright without looking at the dance teacher and returned to the center.
’’Of course! Why do you need to ask?’’ The dance teacher readily agreed, and the dance practice resumed once more.
It wasn’t until an hour and some minutes later that Evelyn decided to stop for the day. She wiped her forehead with a towel and finished the water from her water bottle this time.
’’I’ll be going ma’am.’’ She bid the dance teacher farewell with the towel around her neck.
The dance teacher looked up from her phone. Her serious expression changed, and she waved brightly at Evelyn. ’’See you tomorrow Eve!’’
The actress nodded with a smile and silently stepped out of the dance studio.
Now alone in the dance studio, the dance teacher furrowed her brows as her gaze returned to her phone, particularly the current trending news she saw immediately after checking social media.
’’Evelyn and President Kingston?’’ She murmured under her breath, with eyes clouded in confusion.
On the other hand, Evelyn, as a public figure, was sensitive to people’s gazes on herself. Though her colleagues and company employees still greeted her kindly, Evelyn still detected a slight difference in their gaze and act.
There was a sense of distance between them, at the same time....pity?
Had something happened without her knowledge?
’’Eve!’’ She caught sight of her familiar friend, Kate, up ahead in the busy hallway. ’’Have you seen the article?’’ Kate probed once they met up with each other.
Evelyn’s heart immediately dropped at the word ’article.’
Her breath shook slightly, but she forced herself to be steady.
’’What article?’’
It seemed she had guessed right. Something must have happened involving her, and she was not aware. In the entertainment industry, trending news could both be a weapon as an ally or an enemy for benefits.
Evelyn had always tried to be careful of not getting caught in scandals that could be used against herself. Yet something happened without her knowledge.
What was her manager doing? And why was she unaware of this?
’’You didn’t know?’’ Kate looked surprised to hear that, and Evelyn did not like the stare because her manager was responsible for this.
It seemed she would have to deal with Luna, whose arrogance has been getting out of control these past years.
’’It’s a scandal between you and President Kingston.’’
