Hellbound With The Vampire King-Chapter 91: Preparation For The Ceremony (1)

Serena had barely had enough time to calm her racing heart after the way Eiravyn behaved just moments ago. She came out of the bathroom, wiping her face with a towel, when a curt knock was heard at the door. She placed a had on her chest, wondering if Eiravyn was back again to continue pestering her, subconsciously she found herself hoping it was not him, she was still not ready for whatever lessons he had for her. Serena touched her face, and was surprised to feel how hot she was.

’Is it normal to feel this way?’ wondered Serena in her head. It had just been a moment since he left her room, was he really back or did he forget something, she wondered. She was still deep in her thoughts when the knock resounded again, this time louder, and a voice followed right after it.

"My lady," a voice frantically called from the other side of the door.

Serena sighed, she didn’t know if she was disappointed that it was not Eiravyn by the door or not. But she somehow wished it was him. Unfortunately, it was not him, so she tried to stabilize and control herself.

Serena took a step forward, closer to the door, "you may come in now," she managed to say.

Now that Serena was alone, she could not help but wonder how the banquet would look like for her, she found herself anticipating it and secretly hoping that it goes well. The door to her bedroom was pulled open and she saw both maids and servants entering the room on a single file, she was surprise at the unfamiliar faces of the maids and servants and realized that Eiravyn had been serious when he mentioned that he would change her maids.

Five maids entered her room and when she was about to give up the idea that the twins would still serve her, she saw the two girls enter into the room, making them seven. Serena felt relieve wash over her, as even when Eiravyn had been serious about changing her servants, he had still considered her request even though he was angry which proved that he still cared about her, Serena thought, maybe she had only overthink the situation, she thought in her head.

"My lady," the new maid, who just entered the room suddenly said, she had a confident and strong air about her. Her uniform was slightly different from the rest of the servants Serena had seen so far, she was wearing a black and red dress with her hair set in a tight bun like the rest of the servants. She looked to be in her early 20s. Serena noticed.

"What is it?" Serena inquired. It was still mid afternoon and it seemed the maids was in a rush. She could not understand why.

"We have been instructed to start your preparation for the banquet ceremony, my lady. Please pardon us."

Serena’s throat constricted. It was still quite early, was there any need to rush this when the banquet is not until midnight. "Isn’t it too early for that?" questioned Serena.

"His Majesty, the king has ordered us to get you ready on time as you would be going somewhere with him before the banquet. My name’s Lila, My lady."

Serena finally breathed out, if that was the case then it was fine. After all, it’s better for her to follow what they said when she barely knew anything about the kingdom’s doctrines. She turned to look at the girl whose name was Lila, before her eyes shifted to look at Astrid, and Aurora. They’ve been unusually quiet since they came inside the room. She could not help but notice, she wanted to ask them if everything was fine but she refrained since there was a crowd in the room currently.

She turned to smile at Lila, "Alright then." Serena reluctantly said. "Let’s get it over with, but I would like to know why your uniform is different from the rest."

Lila was taken aback, everyone in the kingdom knew she was the second head and in charge of the servants, she was surprise to know that the new girl still didn’t know this. Lila could not hide the disdain that came to settle in her face. The girl cleared her throat as if to correct her expression before answering.

"I’m in charge of the servants and today I’m in charge of getting you ready," the servant answered, before Serena could comment more on this, Lila led her to the bathroom, to avoid speaking to the human.

Serena was again faced with the situation of removing her clothes and getting naked in front of all this maids and servants, she was trying to be brave about it in the begining but now that she saw that they were almost done with preparing her bath and had filled the tub with steaming water. It was now time for her to undress, she turned to assess the maids around her, they were all looking at her like she had grown two heads, it was probably because they’ve been in this position for five minutes and Serena still hadn’t made any attempt to remove her clothes.

This was the first time any lady they serve behaved this way, most of the ladies always loved being served and attended to, so they were wondering why Serena was acting like she was being threatened with a gun when in fact they only wanted to serve her.

Serena slowly reached for the helm of the top she was wearing and acted like she was about to pull it off her head, but when she saw that the maids were no longer paying attention to her and some of them had gone to arrange more scented oil for her bath.

She turned to the three who was still with her, "You all can leave, I want only Astrid and Aurora to attend to me when I bath." the way Serena said it was as if she didn’t want to hear any word of objections.
