"You don’t have to be sorry." Serena said, as relieve washed over her. She smiled, "I just didn’t want you girls to get into trouble because of me when it wasn’t even your fault to begin with, reasons why I asked His Majesty that I would like for you two to serve me from now on."

The twins exchanged glance, surprise written all over their faces, it was obvious they were startled by this declaration. Honestly, they were surprised when they were told they would be assisting Serena in getting ready for the banquet today. Because of the commotion at the royal house, Serena didn’t know this, but the entire royal house was almost turned up side down by King Eiravyn today when they couldn’t find her. To the point that they were giving a lengthy lecture on how to behave as servants. They had thought they would be giving a harsh punishment but was later shocked when the butler assigned them with this task. And now, it turned out that Serena had pleaded on their behalf. The two girls were touched.

"My lady," Aurora started, Serena placed her hands on the edge of the bathtub so she could look at the girl, wondering why they’ve gone silent. "We-we..." the girl paused, finding it hard to voice their feelings to Serena,

"To say that we’re happy that you thought to do this for us, is an understatement but all we can say is Thank you." The girl stuttered shakily.

Serena was surprised by this behavior but didn’t think too much about it, she knows what she was doing and she was sure that right now she had earned herself an ally, maybe they were not committed to her completely right now, but she was sure with time they would. She smiled inwardly. And just like, the tension in the room subsided and the servants looked like a weight had been lifted off their chest.

Once Astrid and Aurora finished washing her, they helped her step out of the bathtub. They dried her body first before applying another layer of Bergamot oil on her skin. Aurora passed a bathrobe to Astrid as she heard her say.

"Do check if the others are still standing outside."

Aurora nodded and left to fulfil the request while Astrid remained in the room and helped Serena out on the barhrobe, by now Serena was starting to get use to being attended to. As Astrid did this, she spoke in a soft tone like that of an elder sister. "My lady, there’s no need to be so anxious. The banquet would go on fine."

Serena turned to look at her, she had been trying to hide her anxiousness with her fake smile but it seemed nothing escaped the servants eyes as she had seen right through her, Serena saw that the girl was smiling at her and she tried to smile back.

"My lady, i don’t know if you know this but His Majesty almost went crazy when you went missing. I think cares deeply about you."

Astrid didn’t know who Serena was but she was starting to believe that Serena might be King Eiravyn’s mate after that stunt he played when Serena went missing in the afternoon. That was the first time their king behaved in such a way, this realization stunned Astrid then, but now that she thinks of it, Serena was the only girl King Eiravyn ever allowed on the fourth floor. Well, apart from the maids, who cleaned this floor.

Serena finally said something. "I know." After a while, she added softly, "Thank you."

The older servant smiled again. "It’s my pleasure and honor to help you, My lady. I think you’re what the king and this kingdom needs. You’re very kind." The girl added.

Serena looked at her for some time. ’Have she figured out that I’m Eiravyn’s mate.’ Serena wondered in her head. It didn’t matter, they would find out soon enough. Just then the door opened to reveal Aurora, who just entered the room.

"My lady, we’re ready for you. Let’s start in getting you dressed now shall we?" Aurora asked.

Serena was ushered next towards the walk in closer where the rest of the maids were waiting for her, she was led to sit in front of the vanity table where a huge full-length mirror was hung, she sat in front of it, and looked at her reflection on the mirror. Since, Serena didn’t have time to select the dress she would wear for te banquet, she ordered the servants to do the test that she would figure out the clothes she would wear from the ball dresses Eiravyn bought for her, she was sure something would fit there, since all the dress looked extremely expensive and flashy.

Serena’s eyes lifted to look at the faces of the maids surrounding her at the table, she was not surprised to see the obvious exhaustion on their faces, showing they had been awake for hours already, but despite their tiredness, they still tried to smile at Serena as they got ready to attend to her. Before they could start her makeup as the maids and servants already stood in their respective positions, a curt knock was heard on the door.

"Come in." Serena said, without looking at the door to see who entered.

A servant wearing the same servant uniform walked into the room, holding a big gift box. She stalked closer to Serena and bowed to her. It was then, Serena turned to look at her before her eyes went down to gaze at the gift box in the servant girl’s hands, she was about asking her about it. When she heard the girl say.

"My lady, I was asked to give you this." The secant said.

Serena was startled as her eyes fell in the box. "Are you sure you don’t have the wrong person? Who told you to give me this?" Serena asked,
