Help! I transmigrated to a Beast World-Chapter 70: The Wolf Alpha’s Question
Xin Yi’s mind raced. The Wolf Alpha knew. He KNEW she wasn’t from this world. But how? How could he possibly—
"You......you know about..."
He scoffed, rolling his eyes like she had asked him the most stupid question possible. "Of course I know. Did you think you were clever? Building strange structures? Teaching primitives about ’soap’ and ’bricks’ and ’drainage’?" His white eyes narrowed. "You are not the first ’other’ to come here. And you will not be the last."
Her stomach dropped.
There were MORE transmigrators? Even those that came before her??
"So." He leaned closer. His breath was cold against her face. "You are not ready to talk? Fine."
He stood abruptly and gestured to the guards. "Bring in the snake king. Perhaps a few lashes would loosen her tongue and make her very talkative."
"No!" Xin Yi lunged forward but the ropes held her. "Don’t—don’t hurt him, please!"
The doors at the side of the throne room opened.
Two wolves dragged in a body.
Qing Lin.
He was unconscious, and had his head lolling. There was also blood on his shoulder where the dart had hit.
"Qing Lin!" Xin Yi’s voice cracked. She struggled against the ropes. "Qing Lin, wake up!"
He didn’t move.
Sha Chen walked over to the unconscious snake, and looked down at him like he was examining a piece of meat.
"This is your mate? The one who marked you?" He nudged Qing Lin’s shoulder with his foot. "He is weak. I expected more from a snake king. How pathetic. We have executed ordinary snakes that put up more of a fight."
"Don’t touch him!" Xin Yi was pulling at the ropes now, getting even more desperate. "Please! He didn’t do anything! We just wanted the moon petal to help with my flame Fever! Please he didn’t do anything!"
"No, he did not, indeed. But YOU did." Sha Chen turned back to her. "And you will answer my questions. Or this male becomes food for my pups, and trust me, they can acquire a taste for snake meat."
Her blood went cold. "You wouldn’t—"
"Try me, female. My reputation isn’t based on lies. Do you want to test it?"
The ropes finally loosened enough. She stood up, wobbly, but standing, her newfound strength from the medicine kicking in. She immediately rushed in Qing Lin’s direction, her mind already fearing the worst.
"Where do you think you are going?" Sha Chen was in front of her in an instant. His hand wrapped around her arm. "Answer my question."
"I do not know of any other person! I am the only one! And you know what, you rude wolf?!" Xin Yi snapped, both the fever and adrenaline clouding her mind. "Don’t touch me like that! Smelly cruel arrogant wolf!"
SMACK.
She slapped him.
Right across his perfect, furry face.
The sound echoed through the throne room. Ahhhh!!! Xin Yi what did you just do?!!!
Everyone FROZE.
Sha Chen head had turned from the impact. Slowly—so slowly—he turned back to face her.
His white eyes were WIDE, filled with shock. Every wolf in the room looked like they had seen a ghost.
"Did she just—"
"She hit the Alpha—"
"She is DEAD—"
"SEIZE HER!" One of the guards lunged forward.
"NO!" Sha Chen’s voice rang out, making the guard freeze mid-step. The Alpha’s hand came up slowly, he touched his cheek where she had hit him. His eyes was a puzzle. Then he grabbed her wrist.
"Hmm."
That was all he said.
Just....."Hmm."
[DING! (⊙_⊙)]
[Did Host just SLAP a Wolf Alpha?!]
[AND SURVIVE?!]
[What is happening?!]
[This male is... interesting! ☆]
"This female," Sha Chen said slowly, still holding her wrist, "will eat with me this morning."
Everyone blinked.
"What....?" Xin Yi whispered.
"You heard me. You will dine with me. In the morning hall."
"I—I can’t! I need to check on Qing Lin! And the others! I need to—"
"Do you want your friends to die?" His voice was soft. "The snake? The tiger? The other snakes?"
She swallowed hard. "No.....I..."
"Then it is settled." He released her wrist and gestured to two female wolves. "Take her. Dress her properly. She will meet me in the dining hall."
"Dining hall?" Xin Yi repeated weakly. "You have a dining hall?"
"Of course. Did you think we ate like savages?" He turned away, dismissive. "Go. Do not keep me waiting."
"Yes, Alpha," the two females said in unison. They grabbed her arms, not roughly, but firmly, and started leading her away.
As they left, Xin Yi heard the wolves whispering:
"How did he let her hit him?"
"The Alpha never lets anyone—"
"And she LIVES?"
"This is strange..."
The two females led her through corridors. They were made of white stone, and were very clean, almost sterile. They didn’t speak a word, they just continued walking.
Xin Yi tried. "Um... thank you for—"
"Quiet," the shorter one said.
They entered a room. Large. With actual FURNITURE. A bed. A mirror. A wardrobe.
The taller female opened the wardrobe and pulled out......clothes. Actual clothes. What the hell was even going on at this point? How were the wolves so advanced??
A dress. Made of soft fabric. Blue-green, like ocean water. Simple but elegant.
"Put this on," she said, handing it to Xin Yi.
"I... okay."
They helped her change. As they worked, Xin Yi heard them whispering to each other:
"I wish I could be part of the Alpha’s harem," the shorter one sighed.
"Shh! Do not speak of such things!"
"But it is true! I heard he is very......efficient."
"Efficient?"
"In bed. With females. He can satisfy multiple females in one night and still—"
"SHH!"
Xin Yi’s face nearly exploded. "I can HEAR you!"
They both shut up immediately. But their faces said everything.
Jealous. So jealous.
[DING! (¬‿¬)]
[Wolf Alpha has a HAREM!]
[And a reputation!]
[Host is in DANGER! ☆]
They finished dressing her and led her out through more corridors. Xin Yi was trying to look at everything. The architecture. The design. It was so MODERN. So advanced.
Stone walls with smooth surfaces. Carved decorations. Windows with actual glass. Doors that fit perfectly in their frames.
It looked like something from a historical drama. But better.
"How did you—" she started.
"Do not speak," the taller female said.
They turned a corner.
And Xin Yi walked straight into something solid.
"Ow!" She stumbled back.
A hand caught her arm, steadying her. She looked up.
Sha Chen.
He had changed. Sort of. He was in more human form now. Less fur. More skin. But still those distinctive white and black markings on his arms and chest. His chest was still bare, showing off his ridiculous abs.
He wore different pants now. Black and loose. And more gold jewelry. Bracelets. A necklace. Even ear cuffs.
He looked...
Dangerous. Beautiful. Terrifying.
All at once.
"You should watch where you walk," he said. His voice was softer now.
"I was looking at the walls and—"
He grabbed her hand....and put it on his face....right where she had slapped him.
"You," he said again, his white eyes boring into hers. "You have strong hands for such a small female."
"I... what... are you also a masochist?" The words tumbled out before she could stop them.
[DING! (≧▽≦)]
[IS EVERYONE IN THIS WORLD A MASOCHIST?!]
[First Feng Huang!]
[Now Sha Chen?!]
[What is HAPPENING?! ☆]
His lips twitched as he dismissed the other servant girls. "Come."
He released her hand and started walking. Xin Yi reluctantly followed him, wondering why he had gone a complete 180 from trying to murder both her and Qing Lin to wanting to dine with her.
They entered another room.
And Xin Yi’s jaw DROPPED.
It was a dining hall. An actual, proper dining hall. A long table. Made of polished wood. Chairs with cushions. Plates made of ceramic. Cups made of glass.
GLASS.
And the FOOD.
Her eyes went wide.
There was STEAK. Actual steak. Cooked. Seasoned. Perfect.
And RICE. White rice. Fluffy. Beautiful.
And vegetables. Roasted. With herbs.
And BREAD. Real bread with a golden crust.
It looked like something from a restaurant. From HER world. Oh goodness....
"Is that..." Her voice cracked. "Is that real?"
"Sit," Sha Chen said, gesturing to a chair across from his. She sat, barely breathing. He sat across from her, crossing his legs in a poised manner.
"Eat."
She didn’t need to be told twice. She grabbed a fork— real FORK—and started eating.
The steak was PERFECT. Tender. Juicy. Seasoned with salt and pepper and something that tasted like garlic.
The rice was fluffy and warm. The vegetables were roasted to perfection. She ate. And ate. And ate.
Tears started forming in her eyes.
It tasted like HOME. Like her world. Like civilization. Like everything she had been missing for weeks.
"Why are you crying?" Sha Chen asked, though not unkindly.
"It’s... it’s just..." She wiped her eyes. "It reminds me of home. My real home. Before.....before all this."
He was quiet for a moment, simply watching her eat.
Then: "How did you know about me?" she asked, setting down her fork. "How did you know I wasn’t from this world?"
He took a slow sip from his cup before responding.
"Where do you think all of THIS came from?" He gestured at the room. The food. The building. "The architecture? The glasswork? The advanced farming? The metal tools?"
She blinked. "You......you built this?"
"No." His white eyes met hers. "I was raised by a couple who were not from this world. A man and a woman. They came here thirty years ago. They taught me everything. How to build. How to organize. How to create.....civilization."
Her fork clattered to her plate.
"You were raised by......by transmigrators?"
"Is that what you call yourselves?" He tilted his head. "Interesting term."
"They.....where are they now?"
His expression went cold. "Dead."
Oh goodness.
[DING! (...)]
[Plot twist!]
[Sha Chen was raised by transmigrators!]
