Help! the four Alpha's are obsessed with me.-Chapter 204 Close one
Meanwhile, Draven himself got to the hotel his family were lodged in, and truly it was on complete fire. The enormous skyscraper was completely ablaze, flames licking through shattered windows, thick smoke rolling into the sky. Despite the firefighters doing their possible best to bring out trapped people from the inferno, corpses still piled at one side, covered in white sheets that barely hid the horror beneath.
A cold shudder ran through him as his demeanor fell completely. His heart pounded so loud it felt like it would burst through his chest. He rushed forward but stopped abruptly when he saw the barrier created by the firefighters to prevent anyone from getting closer to the burning structure.
Even though Draven stood at the side where victims were being placed after rescue, he couldn’t stay put. His family was in there—how could he just stand and watch?
"Sir, let me pass. My partner and our babies are in there," Draven announced, his voice trembling despite the steel in his eyes. All of them turned to look at him.
"Babies? You mean more than one?" an officer asked, clearly startled.
Draven, who had no patience for that ridiculous question, shot him a deadly glare.
"Why the numerous questions? Can you save them or not? If anything happens to my babies, I will kill you and ruin your life—and that of your family!" Draven yelled, making the man flinch and instinctively step back.
The officer backed out a bit, staring at him before turning his attention back to the building. The fire inside seemed to be reducing slightly, but the smoke was too heavy, thick enough to suffocate anyone trapped within.
At that moment, a young girl was brought out. She was asthmatic, and unfortunately, during the rescue she had lost her inhaler. She was gasping hard, clawing at her chest, her breaths coming in broken, desperate sounds.
Draven looked at the girl in horror, then at the confused expressions on the officials’ faces. It was hard to believe they were meant to protect people from fire outbreaks when they couldn’t even handle something like this. Soon, the girl’s life would be snuffed out like that of a chicken. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
More officers rushed over, looking just as helpless.
Unable to contain his anger, Draven shoved the officer blocking him and jumped over the barrier, landing before the girl. Folding up the sleeves of his shirt, he threw out his command.
"Shift aside and let me do it—unless you want her death blamed on your incompetence."
All eyes turned to him. Realizing he was probably their only hope, they moved aside.
"Good dogs," he muttered coldly.
He went down on his knees and patted the girl’s cheeks gently, but she was close to giving up. Without hesitation, he cupped her face and pressed his mouth to hers.
The contact made the officers stare at him in shock, but he didn’t care what anyone thought. They could look all they wanted—at least he was doing something.
For several long seconds, he continued the mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Then suddenly, the girl gasped hard and inhaled sharply before breathing again.
The people around began to clap. Some were already recording him, praising him more than the firefighters themselves. Cheers rose from different corners.
Now receiving long acclaim, Draven decided to use that to his advantage. While they were all distracted by the girl who had just been revived, he slipped toward the entrance of the hotel.
A realization struck him almost immediately—the elevator might not be working. That meant climbing several flights of stairs, something he wasn’t accustomed to.
It was going to be hard.
Closing his eyes in determination, he began climbing, taking the stairs two at a time. Smoke burned his lungs, his legs screaming in protest as he ascended floor after floor. Soon, he could barely take it anymore and was about to collapse on the floor, gasping for air.
That was when he saw a shadow near a door that had been uprooted from its hinges.
Instinctively stepping back to avoid any attack, the shadow moved—and to his shock, it was Alexander.
He was shielding the baby in his arms. He looked terrible, weak and covered in charcoal from head to toe. If Draven had seen him somewhere else, he wouldn’t have believed it was his Alexander in such a state.
"How did you get here? Why didn’t you come down?" Draven asked urgently.
Alexander wiped his face with his shirt before sighing in relief.
"The babies... they could suffocate. The fire was heavier down there, so I couldn’t take the risk. And I didn’t know if the assassin was still with me," he revealed.
Draven’s eyes bulged. Assassin?
That was bad. So someone truly did this to attack them.
"It was a bomb that was fired. It hasn’t exploded yet, but time is ticking. Since you’re here, let’s go," Alex said hurriedly, handing one of the babies to Draven before clearing the path.
As they rushed down the stairs, Draven realized he had arrived just in time. If he hadn’t helped Alexander, they—and everyone close by—would have been wiped out. The bomb was definitely going to take everyone with it.
Descending was easier and faster. They reached the exit, bolting out with maddening speed. They jumped into their car.
Before they drove off, Draven screamed at the top of his lungs.
"There is a bomb inside the hotel! If you’re close by, run!"
With that warning, Alex started the car, and they sped off. When they reached a safe distance, a deafening explosion echoed behind them, shaking the ground and scattering debris in all directions.
Seeing they were far from danger, Alex finally halted the car and took a shaky breath.
"That was insane... But what about those outside? They might not have made it," Alex questioned.
Draven shrugged slightly. He had warned them. Whether they listened or not was beyond his control.
"Now where are we heading? And Daniel—why didn’t he call? And Xylander—wasn’t he supposed to come with you?" Alex threw the questions one after another.
Draven knew he couldn’t avoid them. Alex had the right to know.
"Daniel had a panic attack after a memory from the past resurfaced. He fell unconscious, so Xylander took him to Ruth—for protection and treatment."
The revelation broke Alexander’s heart. His face turned red with anger and rage.
"I think I need a gun. Let me go and finish that bastard off," Alexander fumed, his hands clenching tightly as the image of Mr. Lancaster flashed through his mind.
"The mistake we made was allowing Daniel to handle this. We could easily butcher that man. He should’ve been put in his place long ago. How is he still breathing after treating Daniel like that?" Alex spat bitterly.
"Alex, careful with your words. We are with the kids now, remember," Draven reminded him softly.
Alex’s expression slowly returned to normal.
"Sorry about that..." he muttered.
Draven didn’t mind. It was rage speaking.
"Let’s just go see Daniel. Xylander is alone with him, and we need to show him we’re with him—no matter what," Draven proposed.
Alex nodded. He started the car again, and they drove off into the night.
On the other hand, news of the bombing had already gone viral. It caught the attention of the government as the damage was massive—both within and beyond the hotel grounds.
"We did it..." a voice echoed through a phone call.
"His companions would be dead by now. And his babies," the voice continued.
The receiver grinned.
"Good job. But if they make it out alive anyway, love, then you owe me a head..."
The call cut off, revealing a feminine figure in a hoodie, her face and head hidden in shadows.
