Chapter 21: I Don’t Like Her

Gardenia Castle is the biggest and the most expensive hotel in Rosehill City. It has been rumored that a night in the hotel cost at least a half a million dollars, yet Zachary Sanders rented the whole hotel just for this day, and as he saw her slowly walking down the aisle in his brother’s arms, he regretted nothing. To Zachary, she was worth this and more. Although their wedding was planned in a rush, he still made sure everything was going to be perfect.

As Eliana walked down the aisle, she looked at the faces of everyone seated, but none of these faces were of her parents, it was as if truly she had become an orphan. Her heart broke at the final revelation that once again, her parents had abandoned her and had chosen Amber over her. Tears threatened to fall from her eyes, but as she saw Zach looking at her as if she was the most important person in his world, she knew that today was not a day for her to cry over her parents abandoning her, it was a day of happiness. Her dream of marrying the seventeen-year-old boy who saved her from drowning and became her only friend before he went abroad was finally coming through. Today was her day and not even her parents can ruin it for her.

"Here, I have brought your Eli to you without a single scratch," Ryan said with a smile.

"Thank you," Zach said. "I mean it, Ryan."

"I know. I’m glad that I’m able to finally be of use to you." Ryan said and placed Eliana’s hands in his brother’s before going to take his seat.

He looked at his mother, who was sitting beside him, and whispered, "Put a smile on your face Mom, it’s a wedding."

Charlotte rolled her eyes and said, "I don’t like her."

"Then it’s a good thing that you are not the one marrying her," Ryan replied, watching Zach and Eliana exchange vows.

"I can see she has already won you to her side," Charlotte said.

"Do you want to know whose side I’m on? I’m on Zach’s side. To be honest, I don’t care who Zach marries, whether it’s Eliana or Amber. In this world, Zach’s happiness is the only thing I care about. Now smile Mom, you are ruining the atmosphere with your frown." Ryan replied coldly.

Charlotte looked at Ryan, who already had a smile on his face as he watched the couple and thought of how her son hadn’t changed at all. If there was one behavior she hated in Ryan, was the way he could switch his emotions at will. It was always hard for her to know what he was thinking, but somehow, Zach always knew. Zach always knew how to control him and there was a time Ryan had told her that Zach was the only one who understood him, and to be honest, it wouldn’t be a lie. She loved her sons, and she knew they loved her too. She may not understand them fully, but she did to some extent, and that is why she is scared that Eliana will break his heart and terrified that Zachary will once again return to that dark place.

"I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may kiss the bride." The Officiant declared, causing a clap from all the guests.

Eliana smiled and anxiously waited as Zach unveiled her.

"My beautiful Eli," Zachary whispered before leaning to share his first kiss with her as her husband.

Time seemed to stand still as Eliana felt Zach’s lips on hers. It felt so surreal that they were finally married. Zachary Sanders was finally her husband, and she is his wife. He was now her only family, and as their lips moved in synced, Eliana made a vow to herself that she would protect this family of hers no matter what.

.....

In a very scattered room, clothes, shattered glass, and flower vases were all on the floor, and in the midst of it all, was Amber, who sat on the ground crying her eyes out as she watched Eliana in a wedding dress that was supposed to be hers. She was supposed to be the one marrying Zach, not Eliana. Why was it so hard for her to get this one thing she had always wanted? Why did Eliana have to have it all? It was not fair. Why is Eliana’s life so much better than hers?

"Amber?" Sloane called out, knocking at the door, but there was no reply.

As Amber heard Sloane’s voice, she carried a shard of glass that was on the floor and cut her wrist with it.

After hearing no reply from inside the room, Sloane opened the door and found Amber unconscious on the floor.

Sloane screamed when she saw Amber lying on the floor and rushed to carry her in her hands, screaming, "What have you done? How could you do this to yourself without thinking of me? Ambulance! I...I need to call the Ambulance." Sloane trembled as she brought out her phone from her pocket and quickly dialed the emergency number.

Henry walked into this scene and froze in shock as he saw Sloane holding an unconscious Amber in her hands as she begged whoever she was calling to hurry.

"What happened?" Henry asked after finally finding his voice.

Sloane pointed to Amber’s iPad with tears streaming down her face and said, "Eliana happened. That girl should never have entered our life."

Henry ignored Sloane and carried Amber in his arms as he shouted, "Get my car keys, I’m taking her to the hospital immediately."

"But I just called the ambulance."

"She could die before they get here. We don’t have time to waste, Sloane, the girl is already losing too much blood."

"Yes. I will go get it right away." Sloane said and hurriedly went to get Henry’s car keys.

Amber was rushed to the hospital, and as the doctor and nurse took her to the emergency room, Sloane cried profusely and softly said to herself, "You can’t take my daughter away from me, Stella. If you do so, then I won’t hesitate to take yours."
