Her Dark Desires-Chapter 34: The WitChapter
Moore Mansion.
"Eliana is now different, she loves Zach and will not betray him." Grandma Moore said to her son as she elegantly sipped her tea.
"How is she helping her family a betrayal to Zach?" Henry asked angrily. He was losing everything, and since Eliana had refused every form of contact with him, she thought his mother would be able to talk some sense into her, but instead, that so-called daughter coldly refused her grandmother as well.
"You are the cause of all this. All her life, you have maltreated that girl and have even refused to acknowledge her as your daughter in public, and now you boldly call her your daughter? What a joke, Henry."
"You say it as if I did not do it for this family. You found Eliana when my company was at a delicate spot, and scandal like that would lead to its ruin, and you saw how the public made me a hero when I adopted her and into this family."
"Is that so? Well, now, your precious company is in ruin, and you are being investigated for fraud. All the great Henry Moore has is this house that is actually under my name. You let that wife of yours control you and now you are in this mess because of your greed. Did you not think that since the dead man can’t fight, he has two children who could fight for him!" Grandma Moore shouted slamming her tea cup on the table.
"I did nothing wrong. How was I supposed to know that fool Antonio would commit suicide just because he lost a deal."
"You framed him for molesting a girl, and you and I knew that Antonio’s reputation was everything to him. This is your karma, so accept it."
"Why should he accept it?" Sloane asked as she entered Henry’s study. She could hear their argument even before she entered the study.
"And here comes the witch." Grandma Moore muttered under her breath. She looked at Sloane with a forced smile on her face and asked, "Then tell me, if he does not accept his fate, how do you wish to get us out of this mess."
"I will handle this and will not let us go down. Just trust me, mother-in-law." Sloane said.
"As long as you don’t end up doing something stupid as you did years ago then go ahead, save us from our ruin, that is if you can." The old woman replied and continued drinking her tea.
Henry, on the other hand, let out a sigh of relief when he heard his wife had a solution. Unlike his mother, he didn’t care what method Sloane used to get them out of this mess. Even if it ends up taking another person’s life like it did years ago, it didn’t matter to him. The only thing that mattered to him was not going bankrupt.
.....
Eliana woke up to see Zach getting ready to go to his office and quickly got up from the bed to help him fix his tie.
"All done," Eliana said as she finished fixing his tie. She kissed him on the cheek and said with a sigh "If only you can be a little bit ugly."
Zach laughed and asked, "Instead of wishing for me to become a little ugly, shouldn’t you be glad that this very handsome being is all yours?"
Eliana scoffed and replied, "Don’t get full of yourself."
"I will try not to, but the mirror isn’t helping matters," Zach said with a laugh.
"Wow. You are something, Zachary Sanders, and you are right; it’s a good thing you are all mine, so don’t forget to never take this off," Eliana pointed to his wedding ring.
Zach laughed and pecked her lips as he said, "Never."
Eliana smiled but her smile slowly faltered as she remembered that Ryan was supposed to leave this morning.
"Is Ryan gone?" She asked, hoping to hear that he was still around.
"Yes, he left as early as 6 am. Do not worry about not seeing him off, he promised to call you when he arrives at his destination."
"I can’t believe I overslept. Who knows when we can meet again?" Eliana asked sadly.
"Ryan isn’t usually around for Christmas or New Year celebrations, but given the fact that our baby will be due for delivery in November, I’m sure he will be around for the celebrations, so don’t think too much about it," Zachary said.
Eliana nodded and decided to forget about the sadness she felt on not seeing Ryan this morning so instead, she gathered up her courage to ask her husband a question that might lead to a drastic change in his mood "Yesternight before we slept, I received a message from my grandmother, she wanted me to see her off at the airport."
"Do you want to go?" Zach asked calmly.
So calmly that it made Eliana feel nervous because she couldn’t read his emotion but she still nodded and said "Grandma rarely comes to Rosehill City and I’m sure that the only reason she came here was to talk to me about Henry and if she leaves today, she might not come back for a long time, but it’s ok if you don’t want me to go after all....."
"You can go Eli."
"I can?" Eliana asked in surprise. To be honest, she even felt a little bit bad for asking him this. She knew how much he hated her family but still, grandma has always treated her as her true granddaughter.
"I do not hold a grudge against an old woman, I think. Listen, Eli, I know seeing your grandmother one last time will make you happy, so yes, you can go. I will ask Ethan to drop you off."
"There is no need to bother him, and besides, Ethan and I don’t really get along, so just forget it. I will take a cab, and thank you, Zach." Eliana said with a smile.
"You don’t have to thank me for telling you to go meet your grandmother, and I don’t like you taking a cab."
"Well, my car needs repairs and I do not want you to be late for your meeting, so I have to take a cab, but don’t worry, both I and little Treasure will be safe."
"Let’s have lunch together, I will call you," Zach said, kissing her goodbye.
After he left, Eliana went to the mirror and placed a hand on her growing bump. "You heard that, we are going to be having lunch with Daddy today."
