Hero or Villain, Both-Chapter 346: Diving in shadows
We watched as this serial killer approached the house of his target.
It didn’t seem like he was going to do anything special with how he moved towards that home, but then he suddenly disappeared.
It was as if he sunk into the ground with the way that he suddenly disappeared.
Both Aragon and I knew that he suddenly used his skill which was why he disappeared.
The reason that he had been able to escape all of the scenes of the crime was because of this one skill.
Though it wasn’t as if he was able to escape our mana sense even though he was able to escape his pursuers. It was hard to compare us to the guards of this city since we were on a completely different level.
Not long after he disappeared, he appeared inside of the house of his target.
Even though that house was completely locked, he had been able to slip right past that lock and appear inside of the house.
Once he was in, he moved without making any sounds at all as he approached the bedroom of his target. The way that he moved through this house showed that he was very familiar with this place.
It was clear that he had already scoped out this place and found all the information that he needed about his victim before coming here.
This was the kind of preparation that couldn’t have been done in a short period of time.
This was the kind of preparation that could only have been done with conviction.
It was more than enough to show that he wasn’t a sloppy person, he was a person that thought things through before committing his crime. Even if he was a person that was quite disgusting considering the kind of victims that he targeted.
But then again, he had to be this thorough since he had been able to escape his pursuers so many times.
His skill alone wouldn’t be enough for that.
Once he was right outside the bedroom door, it seemed like he finally let his guard down.
Once he reached this point, this serial killer thought that there wouldn’t be any problems for him. So that was why he didn’t seem to care about keeping his guard up any longer.
It was simply him thinking that he had already won.
"Now." I said to Aragon.
He didn’t waste any words as he disappeared from where he had been standing.
When he appeared, he was inside of the house as well and was right behind the serial killer. It was that he was focused on what was in front of him that he didn’t seem to notice anything else.
Though it wasn’t as if he would have noticed Aragon since Aragon had used a spell to hide himself.
Unless the serial killer had exceptional mana sense, it would have been impossible for him to discover Aragon.
Once he stepped through the bedroom door, he found that there was something off.
"Ke..." The serial killer gripped his throat in a panic as he found that he wasn’t able to breathe.
He had no idea why that was the case, but he also knew that he was in danger.
That was why he didn’t hesitate to suddenly dive into the ground once more.
The ability that this serial killer possessed was the ability to travel through shadows, which was why he was diving into the ground like this. What he was actually diving into wasn’t the ground itself, but rather his own shadow.
Aragon didn’t do anything to stop him since he knew that there was no need for him to so.
"Ke, ke...What was that?" The serial killer said to himself when he appeared outside of the house.
But that was all that he could say before he found that he couldn’t breathe once more.
This time, he wasn’t able to dive down into his shadow once more.
After all, his skill was now on cooldown and he wouldn’t be able to use it until it was back off cooldown.
The only thing that he could do was grip at his throat as he tried to force himself to breathe, but he found that he wasn’t even making a sound. It was as if there was something that had completely gotten rid of all the air that was around him.
Since he was choking like this, it didn’t take long for him to be knocked out.
Once the serial killer was knocked out, there were two figures that appeared around him.
Aragon looked at me with a disapproving look as he said, "We really wasted that much time on this idiot?"
I just gave a shrug before saying, "We had no idea what he was capable of since he was just a NPC from a small quest in the game. It’s better to be safe than sorry."
He didn’t seem to agree with me, but I didn’t say anything as I bent down to remove the mask of the serial killer.
This was an ugly man that clearly didn’t have any self confidence.
It was clear why he targeted only young women, he was someone that just did what he wanted for his own self gratification.
This really was quite the disgusting person, but then again...this was what he was designed for in terms of the quest.
I didn’t say anything else as I removed everything else from him that he might have been able to use and then bound him up. After binding him up, I lifted him up with one hand and said, "Come on, let’s go."
Aragon gave a nod as he followed me, but we weren’t heading back.
We weren’t planning on handing this serial killer over to the authorities either.
There was something else that we wanted to do with him first.
So that was why we were taking him to a special place where we could deal with him before we finished him off.
Though what we did with him was still something that had to be decided.
