Side: Yoo Jin-seok

Yoo Jin-seok was enjoying a rare peaceful day with his friend Shin Ji-woon. With the war over, they had been given mandatory leave by the Association, though technically, Yoo Jin-seok could take breaks whenever he pleased.

Shin Ji-woon chewed noisily on a dried squid leg he’d bought for 12,000 won at a Ma-Ket.

"That bastard Ha Jung-seok sure got lucky. Scored big thanks to that Whitey, and now he’s gone and cut her off from politics before she could even step into the field."

Ji-woon grimaced as he watched Ha Jung-seok delivering a speech on a giant magitech screen installed on a nearby building.

"Whitey?"

"Your sister, Yoo Eun-ha. Her white hair, you know? Whitey. Honestly, I half-expected you to snap and kill Ha Jung-seok over her, but you’ve held back pretty well."

Come to think of it, "Whitey" did suit her. It was cute, too. Jin-seok had to admit, he still wasn’t entirely sure how or when Eun-ha had awakened. That realization stung—it was proof he hadn’t been paying enough attention to her. He wanted to do better as her older brother from now on.

As for Ha Jung-seok? Oh, he wanted to kill him, no doubt. The man had the audacity to use one successful negotiation as a springboard for arrogance and then assigned his sister the role of Special Hunter, saddling her with the leadership of a "villain" faction.

Granted, the Baekhwa Sect had already been granted autonomy and had even participated as militia in the war, earning significant accomplishments. It wasn’t just some run-of-the-mill villainous organization anymore. In fact, Jin-seok didn’t think the idea was entirely bad.

Still, there was a nagging worry in the back of his mind: was Ha Jung-seok planning to use Eun-ha and then discard her, like tosagupyeong—slaughtering the dog after the hunt? On the bright side, being tied to the Baekhwa Sect might actually shield her from greater hardships.

"She said she’s fine with it, so what can I do? Honestly, getting famous at such a young age is exhausting."

"You’d know, wouldn’t you?" Ji-woon quipped.

"If Eun-ha officially becomes a hunter, foreign countries won’t let her go. Hell, with her looks, she’s already got fans abroad."

Eun-ha’s being a girl only made things more complicated. In Korea, she already had a fan club, Eunha-dan, and even Eunha Moms who adored her. Come to think of it, the Eunha Moms also called her "Whitey."

Overseas, especially in Japan, some people were pushing for her "integration" into their ranks, though Shinohara Yuzuki, the de facto power in Japan, had remained silent on the matter. Unlike the prime minister, Shinohara seemed to have no clear stance, but who could really tell what she was thinking?

"Whitey’s got that unique mix of Eastern and Western features. She gives off a vibe that appeals everywhere."

"...You’re not thinking what I think you’re thinking, are you?"

When Jin-seok’s hand moved to rest on the hilt of his sword, Ji-woon quickly shook his head.

"Hey, come on, I’m not into younger girls! I prefer mature women with a touch of elegance."

"Could you drop the housewife obsession already?"

Ji-woon had always been into older women—mature, hunter-types who could handle themselves and keep a home running smoothly. That hadn’t changed since their academy days.

In today’s world, where hunters aged slowly, most of them maintained the appearance of being in their late twenties to early thirties. Finding someone who fit Ji-woon’s type wasn’t impossible, but it was definitely rare.

"Not that it’s much easier to find among civilians," Jin-seok mused.

"And you? Every girl who comes near you gets rejected. Why?"

"I just don’t want to be tied down."

In truth, he knew he should settle down someday, for the sake of having kids if nothing else. The problem was finding the right person. More importantly, he worried about Eun-ha. Sure, it was better than having her surrounded by strange men he didn’t know or trust, but the thought of her being in any kind of relationship was still hard to process.

"Don’t tell me you’re still hung up on the Divine Sword."

"The Divine Sword was just that—a sword. Even it wouldn’t want me chained by guilt to its sacrifice."

He’d moved on. Well, mostly.

"Hey, look! There’s Whitey!" Ji-woon suddenly pointed out.

Sure enough, Eun-ha was walking down the street in her academy uniform.

"Why don’t we follow her for a bit? See what she gets up to."

"Are you insane?"

What kind of nonsense was this?

"Why not? Don’t you want to know what your war-hero sister does in her free time? You’ve got no idea, do you?"

The more Ji-woon spoke, the more it started to sound reasonable.

"Hmm."

Now that he thought about it, he really didn’t know much about her day-to-day life. Maybe this was a good chance to find out.

Jin-seok decided to tail his little sister.

Eun-ha, with her distinct antenna-like hair bobbing as she walked, entered an ice cream shop. But she wasn’t alone.

"Isn’t that the girl who came out with Baekhwa? The one with teleportation powers?"

"Looks like it."

"She just bought six tubs of mint choco. What kind of monster feeds a kid that much mint choco?"

Mint chocolate. A divisive flavor, to be sure. Jin-seok was shocked that Eun-ha would subject a child to it. Then again, maybe it was because the girl was from the Baekhwa Sect.

"Wait, Whitey’s eating it too. She even ordered more!"

It seemed his sister liked mint choco after all.

After finishing her ice cream, Eun-ha said her goodbyes to the kid, who promptly opened a gate and vanished into it. As she continued walking, her magitech gear buzzed.

"Think that’s Ji-yeon?"

From the way she smiled as she checked the message, it probably was.

However, Eun-ha soon turned into a shady alley.

"This doesn’t look like the kind of place Ji-yeon would ask her to meet. And it’s not like it’s a motel or hotel either."

"Long time no see, ma’am. War heroes sure are busy, huh?"

"Been a while, Geum Taeyang."

Eun-ha was meeting with a scummy-looking guy.

"Who the hell is that tanned, blond, wannabe gangster?"

"Wait... no way."

"They seem to know each other. She doesn’t look like she’s being threatened. But why would Whitey meet with someone like him?"

Ji-woon’s tone was suspicious.

"This is definitely odd. Let’s observe for now."

"Not to be that guy, but maybe Whitey’s just... you know, into guys?"

"What?"

"Look at his pants. He’s, uh... excited. That’s... something, huh?"

Shin Ji-woon pointed to the pants of the so-called Geum Tae-yang.

It was undeniable—his bulge was massive, barely concealed by the fabric, making it impossible to ignore. Worse, Yoo Eun-ha was blatantly staring at it.

"You think my sister’s some kind of lust-crazed deviant?"

"Not exactly, but come on, wouldn’t you want sex to feel as good as possible? Maybe Whitey’s thinking the same thing—meeting Ji-yeon separately and all."

"That’s absurd."

There was no way his sister was the type to play both sides. Impossible. Yet, the situation was undeniably suspicious.

Thankfully, the two soon parted ways.

"Oh, surprising. That ended quickly. Business associates, maybe?"

Jin-seok breathed a sigh of relief. If his sister had gone off to a motel with that guy, Jin-seok might’ve torn the man’s genitals off on the spot.

As Eun-ha stepped back into the street, she smirked and muttered to herself, "Heh, got a nice pierce out of it."

She held something in her hand, grinning mischievously.

"What’s she so happy about?"

"What was that all about?"

Jin-seok resisted the urge to confront her immediately, worried that getting caught tailing her might sour their relationship. He’d heard it was best not to pry too much into a young girl’s private life.

"Do you think that tanned guy’s ability is to bring people to climax with just his words or something?"

"You’re ridiculous!"

"Wait, look!" Ji-woon interrupted, gesturing toward Eun-ha.

She was now chatting up another girl on the street, casually putting an arm around her shoulders and holding her hand. Her gestures were fluid and natural, like a succubus in action.

"She’s picking up a girl now? Seriously, a full-blown lesbian. She’s leaving Ji-yeon in the dust for random street flings!"

Jin-seok nearly smacked Ji-woon for his nonsense but froze. Eun-ha was indeed leading the girl somewhere.

"Is she seriously heading to a motel?"

"Looks like it. One-night stand incoming."

It was true. Eun-ha and the girl entered a nearby motel.

"She’s that smooth? And what’s with that girl? Falling for a woman’s flirtations so easily. Do I need to have a serious talk with her about this?"

"How do we even react to something like this between women?" Ji-woon mused.

"Shut up."

A short while later, Ji-yeon appeared, stomping into the motel. Soon after, she emerged, dragging Eun-ha out by her antenna-like hair.

Ji-woon laughed so hard at the sight that Jin-seok elbowed him in the ribs.

"Ow, ow! Look at this, though!"

"I can’t believe you left your proper partner to flirt with random street girls! You’re so busted!" Ji-yeon scolded loudly, tugging on Eun-ha’s ear.

Eun-ha flailed and cried out in protest, drawing a crowd. Jin-seok and Ji-woon could only watch in shock as Ji-yeon, who normally carried herself with poise, completely lost her composure.

"I swear I won’t do it again! I’ll leave street girls alone, okay?"

"Do you even hear yourself? I can’t believe this!"

Outside the motel, Eun-ha endured a public lecture from Ji-yeon. Jin-seok felt bad for her, but honestly, it was her own fault.

"Street girls, huh? Does that mean she’s fine with girls from other places?" Ji-woon quipped.

"Ji-woon, shut it."

Jin-seok debated whether to knock Ji-woon out for his relentless comments.

Ji-yeon, however, seemed to forgive Eun-ha after a while.

"Man, Ji-yeon’s tolerance is something else. Is this what happens when you’re with someone famous?"

But Ji-yeon’s next words left Jin-seok floored.

"I already know you’re fooling around all over the place."

Fooling around all over?

Had Eun-ha already lost her purity? Was she seeing guys? Or maybe… girls? His mind raced with all sorts of worst-case scenarios, his concern growing by the second.

Just as he tried to process it, another figure appeared.

"Well, well, Eun-ha, what are you doing here?"

The newcomer was a strikingly beautiful elf with platinum blonde hair. Full-blooded elves were a rarity in Korea, even among the Otherworlders. How had Eun-ha formed a connection with someone like her?

"Rachel?"

"And who might this be?"

Eun-ha stood awkwardly between Ji-yeon and the elf, clearly distressed.

"Uh, well…"

"I’m Rachel, Eun-ha’s wife. And you are?"

"I’m also her wife."

Rachel and Ji-yeon squared off, each asserting her claim as Eun-ha’s rightful partner.

As the tension escalated, Eun-ha finally snapped.

"Stop it! Don’t fight because of me!"

"It’s because of you!"

"Quit acting like some tragic princess!"

In the end, both women grabbed Eun-ha by her ears and dragged her off together.

Watching the chaotic scene, Ji-woon shook his head in disbelief.

"What kind of life has your sister been living?"

"Beats me. I’m starting to think I’ve been way too neglectful of her."

Jin-seok resolved to communicate with Eun-ha more often from now on. As Ji-woon stared after her, Jin-seok seriously considered drawing his sword.

"You’re not seriously after my sister, are you?"

"No, but there’s something else."

"What?"

"Whitey’s golden eyes and her white flames—they remind me of Ajidahaka, don’t they?"

Golden, serpentine eyes and the white flames. Now that Ji-woon mentioned it, there was a resemblance.

"Are you saying my sister is Ajidahaka?"

"No, not exactly. I’m just saying it’s interesting. Ajidahaka was last seen not long after you and Whitey were born."

"You know that, and you still say this crap?"

Ajidahaka was a nightmare to the world, the very embodiment of destruction. To associate his adorable sister with such a being was unforgivable.

Before Ji-woon could say more, Jin-seok slammed him into the nearest building, which happened to be the headquarters of the Taehwa Guild.

"Cough! Can’t take a joke, huh? Damn sis-con!"

"What happened, Master?" Taehwa Guild members rushed out to help Ji-woon.

"Make sure your master doesn’t spout this nonsense ever again. If he does, I’ll break his jaw next time."

Tying his beloved sister to Ajidahaka—it was the ultimate insult. Jin-seok swore to himself that Ji-woon wouldn’t get away with it again.

As he headed home, another thought struck him.

"Wait a minute. Isn’t today a school day for the academy?"

Eun-ha had blatantly skipped school to wander around. This, he decided, required further investigation.
