Hero's Carnage-Chapter 32: Mysterious Beauty
The first thing Lucas did after entering the dungeon was survey his surroundings.
He appeared to be in a forest. The trees were thicker and taller than usual, and there was also a light mist that blocked his vision, making it impossible to see over 100 meters.
The atmosphere was incredibly eerie, and it felt like there could be monsters hidden within the mist.
The place was also dead silent, which only made it appear more ominous.
"Are you having second thoughts?" Eva asked him with a smirk on her face when she noticed his frozen expression.
"Hardly. I'm just admiring the scenery, as I have never seen such a sight before," he calmly responded.
Lucas began walking forward the next moment.
"Do you even know where you're going?"
"Does it matter? I only have to encounter a monster and kill it, right?"
"Just make sure you don't go too far ahead by yourself. If you get lost, I won't be able to save you in time if you get into trouble. With that being said, there is still a chance that I might not save you in time, so you're not entirely safe." Eva made sure to give Lucas some distance and stood about 95 meters away from him so that he wouldn't feel as safe and hopefully more anxious.
Lucas didn't mind it at all and focused on his surroundings.
After walking for about five minutes, Lucas came to an immediate halt when he noticed a medium-sized shadowy figure a little over 100 meters away.
This shadow appeared to be as large as a horse, and it had a somewhat round figure.
It was near impossible to identify this monster just by its shadow alone, especially for a newbie like Lucas, so he slowly approached the figure until he could see just enough of the monster's features to identify it.
"That should be an Earth Hog… They are more agile than they appear, and the rocks that cover most of their body like armor are three to four inches thick, making them very durable." Lucas recalled reading about this monster in the monster encyclopedia.
After pondering for a moment, Lucas began walking back until he could no longer see the monster.
Eva showed a slight smile on her face after seeing Lucas' response.
'He knows that he cannot penetrate the Earth Hog's defense at his current level, and instead of rushing at it recklessly, he decides to avoid it altogether to look for another monster that he can kill. Not only is he bold and daring, but he's also very perceptive… He'll become a formidable force if he'a trained properly…'
After giving up on the Earth Hog, Lucas began looking for his next prey— one that he could actually kill.
About ten minutes later, he came across another shadowy figure in the distance, and it resembled a Earth Hog, so he didn't even bother and continued to look around.
After an hour of walking around, Lucas encountered a total of 5 monsters, but they were all Earth Hogs.
"Is there nothing but Earth Hogs in this place?" Lucas turned to ask Eva, who was still following him from a distance.
"You're just unlucky," she casually shrugged.
Lucas shook his head and continued searching.
While he walked, Lucas pondered if there was truly nothing he could do against the Earth Hogs.
Ten minutes later, he stopped walking when he noticed a tall shadowy figure in the distance, and it didn't appear to be an Earth Hog.
Finally, his bad luck has come to an end.
However, the more Lucas looked at this figure, the more he realized something.
'That figure… It looks like a human? Could it be another guild member?' Lucas thought to himself as he approached this figure.
Lucas came to a halt when he was close enough to see the figure, and sure enough, it was another human— a female at that.
However, this person was wearing weird clothes that exposed a lot of her skin. Furthermore, she had silver hair that almost blended in with the mist there.
"Hm?"
This person quickly noticed Lucas and turned to look at him, exposing her beautiful face.
Lucas' eyes widened when he saw her face.
Normally, Lucas isn't the type to be affected by beauty, and he could remain nonchalant even before a very beautiful lady, but there was something different about this young lady— something otherworldly.
'Her ears… They're sharp?'
Although it took him a moment to realize this because he was so absorbed in her face, this young lady had sharp, pointy ears.
"Umm… Excuse me…"
Curious about her identity, Lucas called out to her.
However, the moment Lucas tried to start a conversation, the silver-haired beauty turned around and ran away.
"W-Wait!" Lucas subconsciously followed her.
"Hey! Where are you going?!" Eva also began running after him when he suddenly started running.
Lucas eventually stopped running a minute later after losing track of the silver-haired beauty.
"Damn it! Why did you run off like that?! Are you trying to get yourself killed?!" Eva shouted at him afterward.
"There was someone else here. A young lady with silver hair and sharp ears. Do you know her?" Lucas asked, hoping that Eva knew this person.
However, to his surprise, Eva said in a confused voice, "What are you talking about? We're the only ones here today, and there's nobody with silver hair in our guild, much less sharp ears. Were you hallucinating? The mist in this place shouldn't have such effects…"
"That's not possible. I saw her very clearly. Perhaps she sneaked into this place?" Lucas was certain that he saw this silver-haired beauty.
"Forget it…" Lucas shook his head and returned to looking for monsters.
