His Toxic Addiction-Chapter 34: Dishes.
Chapter 34: Dishes.
Nicklaus’s eyes tightened as he reviewed the file his PA just passed over to him from one of his business partners seated here inside the meeting room.
"What do you mean by this?" Nicklaus asked as he closed the file and watched the greedy glutton.
Robert cleared his throat, "That is how I plan to launch our next product and it would increase our income greatly,"
"By greed?" Nicklaus asked as he watched the man with his eyes, cold and calculating, "Was that why you requested a moment after the meeting,"
Robert let out a smile as he misinterpreted this young CEO’s words, "Yes. I mean_"
"Our partnership is cut off at this instant, Mr. Robert," Nicklaus said calmly as he leaned back on his chair and waited for what the man would say.
Mr. Robert’s face turned sour in an instant as his heart drooped into his stomach. Did he hear wrong or something?
Robert gave out an awkward laugh as he leaned forward on the table to explain further, "This would be a_"
"Leave the meeting room, Mr. Robert," Nicklaus demanded as he tossed the files Mr. Robert brought forward.
Mr. Robert saw red the moment his files landed on the floor. Those files only need the signature of this bastard for him to get richer on his monthly income but what happened? - this bastard just tossed them away like they mattered nothing.
"What is wrong with you? Are you out of your mind?" the man barked as he threw all cautious out of the wind feeling deeply humiliated by this young lad’s arrogance.
Nicklaus passed the man a lazy look as the man ranted. He had already anticipated such an emotional outburst from him earlier so he is least surprised that he cursed at him with no fear.
"Do you realize what I’m offering?" Mr. Robert asked, "Our profit would increase by two billion per month. Do you not understand?" he yelled as he stood up irritated with Nicklaus’s laziness toward a matter as big as this.
Everything is already set and the product is ready for launch but first and foremost, he needs the Wyatt heir signature on it since they are the gods to businesses - but what did this young lad do?
He tossed the work he used day and night to work on away like they were some toilet paper.
Nicklaus fixed his gaze on the man before him as he stood up from his seat and headed to him, his strides calm and easy. Nicklaus’s eyes turned sinister as he stopped a step before the man.
"And what?" Nicklaus asked looking down at the man because the man was a few heads shorter, "The country’s economy drop and the masses suffer due to your greed?" he dropped another question.
The coldness of his voice made Robert swallow but still, he went on to say, "It is only the masses that would suffer. We, we would only grow richer can’t you see that?"
Nicklaus let out a dark chuckle, "And it’s the same masses we would need for our product’s success," he opened the man’s eyes to the bitter truth the man never wanted to accept.
Mr. Robert said nothing as he backed away from Nicklaus because of how threatening the CEO’s aura became in minutes.
"You.."
"You shall treat me with respect Mr. Robert unless, you want me to help you wrap your company up in seconds," Nicklaus cut him off with a promising voice and annoyance to the man’s careless use of words forgetting who he was.
Robert Adam’s apple bobbed as he registered the heaviness and the seriousness of Nicklaus’s promise in his voice.
From experience, he knows that Nicklaus is the last person to make false promises or threats, and in an instant, he looked up at Nicklaus before nodding his head in understanding.
"Take your seat now," Nicklaus ordered.
Mr. Robert swallowed as his ego trampled but still, he took his seat with high hopes that the conversation might go to a different dimension.
Nicklaus went back to his seat after Mr. Robert have taken his.
"I would add you to the masses if within twenty-four hours you don’t reduce the prices of your commodities 70% below the exact price," he warned with a tune of finality before walking out of the meeting room with his PA trailing behind him.
...
Mrs. Wyatt’s eyes moved to the living room as she watched her daughter-in-law walking toward the kitchen door.
"Do you want something?" her voice soft as she continued slicing the tomatoes.
Arissa’s eyes surveyed the kitchen quickly. There were a few unwashed plates inside the kitchen sink and a few more vegetables to watch and slice on the kitchen countertop.
"What are you doing?" Mrs. Wyatt asked as she walked over to Arissa to stop her from doing what she was about to do.
Arissa flashed her a confused look as she stared at the hands Mrs. Wyatt was holding. Why is Mrs. Wyatt acting this way? "I want to wash the dishes,"
"No Arissa,"
Mrs. Wyatt took a close by hand towel and cleaned Arissa’s hands. Arissa frowned softly as she withdraw her hands from Mrs. Wyatt’s hold, "is there anything wrong if I do the dishes?" Arissa asked.
"The maids would do that," Mrs. Wyatt replied.
Arissa looked around the kitchen if there was a hidden maid she did not catch sight of, "I haven’t seen a maid since I came back,"
Arissa rolled her eyes in realization, "I would do just the dishes," she promised. She does not want to step back into her room because if she does, she might go crazy from trying to figure out all the evidence suitable to take her parents to prison so, spending time with Mrs. Wyatt a little might help again.
Mrs. Wyatt gave her a reluctant smile before stepping away from the sink for Arissa to do as she wish.
"I lived alone for three years," she said all of a sudden to ease Mrs. Wyatt’s doubt about her being able to watch the dishes.
Mrs. Wyatt suddenly remembered how rude it was to stare, "Okay," she responded as she quit staring at Arissa and took her focus back to the vegetables.
