Horrific Shorts: Zombie Edition-Chapter 648: Story : Hunting the Hunter
The fortress ruins stood as a silent witness to the horrors of war. The air was thick with the scent of blood, rot, and burning flesh. General Viktor "Bloodfang" Kruger crouched on a crumbling balcony, his crimson beret stark against the moonlit ruins. His compound bow was drawn once more, an arrow nocked, waiting for the perfect shot.
Down below, Wolfe's new monstrosity—a Hulking Revenant Behemoth—staggered from the wreckage of the last explosion. Patches of its flesh were charred, its ribs exposed through melted muscle, but it refused to die. Instead, it let out a guttural, distorted roar, shaking the very ground beneath Kruger's feet.
"Resilient little bastard," Kruger muttered, adjusting his aim.
His fingers brushed over the specialized shockwave arrow—a gift from Dr. Sylvia "Plague Mistress" Voss. This one carried an electrical payload, designed to override necrotic nerve impulses and send an undead creature into violent spasms.
He fired.
The arrow sliced through the air with deadly precision, embedding itself into the beast's exposed ribcage. A second later, blue lightning arced through its body—the Revenant convulsed, dropping to one knee as its limbs twitched uncontrollably.
Kruger didn't wait.
He leapt from his perch, rolling as he landed, his combat knife gleaming in his grip. With a predator's speed, he rushed forward, dodging the beast's wild, spasming swings.
Slash. Stab. Rip.
Kruger's knife plunged into the creature's exposed flesh, cutting through tendons, arteries, and necrotic muscle fibers. The Revenant lurched, howling in agony—but it still refused to die.
A deep laughter echoed from the shadows.
Kruger's eyes flickered to the far wall. Colonel Adrian Wolfe stood there, perched like a specter of war, his gaunt face twisted into a grin. His glowing, undead eyes shimmered with malice.
"You can wound it, Kruger. But you can't kill what's already dead," Wolfe taunted, his voice a hollow rasp.
Kruger wiped blood from his blade. "Funny. I was about to say the same to you."
With lightning speed, Kruger grabbed a secondary arrow—one lined with napalm resin—and fired it straight at Wolfe.

But the Colonel was ready.
With inhuman agility, Wolfe vanished into the darkness, evading the strike. The arrow struck the stone wall, exploding in a burst of fire.
"Next time, General," Wolfe's voice whispered through the ruins. "I'll have something far worse waiting for you."
Kruger exhaled sharply, turning his attention back to the crippled Revenant Behemoth. He reached for one final arrow—a high-yield incendiary.
"You first," he growled, pulling back the bowstring.
The battle wasn't over. Not yet.
