Chapter 660: Bottom Cabin

The Blood City Ghost Tattoo surfaced on his skin. With each of his heartbeats, Gao Ming’s body would change. When the tattoo spread throughout his body, he would no longer be considered a human. He was a Dream Ghost.

The meat fragrance wafted about. Gao Ming moved rapidly through the shadows. Anyone would fall into Dream’s illusion if they shared a look with him. Dream Ghost’s power might be weaker than Demon Gods, but it was very useful.

Gao Ming boarded the ship. No one in this massive sea fortress had realised Gao Ming’s arrival. The anchor was pulled up. The cruise departed from Heaven Sea Bay silently towards the open sea.

“I contributed quite a bit to build this boat. I thought I could use it to evade the boring rules in Xin Lu when conducting my experiments. Who would have thought I’d end up one of the experiments?” No. 2 lamented. “I have tried my best to stay on guard against the devils, but I underestimated them.”

“It might not to do with morality. You just have different stances. On things.”

“That sounds like bullshit.” If No. 2 had eyes, he would have rolled them. He saw Gao Ming’s hidden dark side in the torture room. This was a man walking with death.

Gao Ming glanced at the camera, and the divine appeared in his eyes. Those who saw him would be drawn into the dream and controlled by him.

“Your power is quite interesting. Those under the level of Pure Hatred are your toys.” No. 2 thought about it. “I finally understand why the other blood cities worked together to destroy Han Hai Blood City. If the Dream Ghost were allowed to grow freely, it would lead to an apocalypse.” There was one thing that No. 2 didn’t say. Han Hai Blood City was demolished before its Dream Ghost could use its full power. This was why Dream Ghost was weaker than Unmentionables. Once the consciousness of the Blood City awakened and Gao Ming rebuilt the city, the Dream Ghosts who had Han Han Blood City’s rules as their basis would show the world true horror.

“I am also siding with the devil here.” No. 2 sighed internally.

The cameras actively turned away from Gao Ming. The cabin door opened from the inside. The crew, affected by the Dream Ghost’s power, came to fetch Gao Ming. The inside of the giant ship had been fully modified. Hundreds of guestrooms had been turned into sample storage. There were many unknown living organisms and mutations in stasis. These were Immortal Pharma’s patients.

“You have created a mobile human hell.” Gao Ming walked down the cramped corridor. More ‘samples’ were dragged into his dream. Dream Ghost’s power wasn’t inherently bad. He could create nightmares or sanctuaries.

With the ‘aid’ from the dreaming crew, Gao Ming reached the core area. He was greeted by scenes that were scarier than the inner world. Humans and animals were treated equally. They were soaked in baths as ingredients. Genes became codes to create new monsters. The ship made its own ecosystem. The ship had its own power system to be self-sufficient. Immortal Pharma had the top technology, but they were not satisfied. They wanted to be Gods.

“Even though I was the one who suggested we built a ship, this was not my goal.” No. 2 quickly shifted the blame. He knew what they saw was merely the tip of the iceberg.

“Let’s focus.” When Gao Ming passed by the monsters, he was surprised to find out that he could see into their dreams. This proved that the shapeless ‘things’ were all humans. “They are willing to do anything for immortality.” Gao Ming sent the creatures to sleep. He was led by the crew to a door.

“They are averse to this place. Even if they are dreaming, their bodies resist coming here.” Gao Ming could sense the dreamer’s emotions. He tried to force a crew member to open the door. The man would rather die than do so.

“This leads to the bottom cabin. Project Han Hai’s key lab is behind this door.” No. 2 provided Gao Ming with the code. However, when he reached the door, the door opened on its own.

“It looks like my security has been edited. I was wondering why we hadn’t encountered any accessibility check along the way.” No. 2 warned, “That means that they have confidence no one can leave this place alive. This bottom cabin is very dangerous.”

Gao Ming had never been on such a large cruise. It was his first time going to a bottom cabin. The metallic path led downwards into the unknown darkness.

“I think I can hear water.” After moving for about ten meters, Gao Ming stepped on water.

He lowered his head and saw a man’s face in the water. He mimicked Gao Ming’s action but didn’t have Gao Ming’s face.

“Do you want to copy my face?” Gao Ming smiled as he tore open his chest. The despair from the torture room poured out. The water under his feet, the walls, the ceiling and the abandoned devices cried and wailed.

“If you want to copy me, you have to share part of my pain. It’s only fair.”

The sounds of chains echoed in the cabin. Gao Ming’s shadow expanded. A giant black dog rushed into the darkness. Gao Ming followed it. The locked door was infiltrated by darkness. The door opened. The black dog reappeared with a woman in a lab coat in its mouth. The woman wore a black band similar to the one worn by Han Hai Investigation Centre’s members. Her eyes were gouged out. She wore a strange connector on her head. Behind her were several dying patients in bed.

“Immortal Pharma shoved the ghosts from the inner world into the patients’ bodies. The sacrifice of flesh allows them to stay longer in the human world. This woman is here to wake up the ghosts.” No. 2’s tone carried no pity. He believed there were better ways. “Immortal Pharma has been trying to control ghosts. Dream Break Town, Han Hai, and many experiments are used to achieve this boring goal.”

“This is perfect. I want to see how far along Immortal Pharma’s research is.” Gao Ming encountered the investigators from Xin Lu. They relied heavily on the ghost pattern’s power.

The patients in the beds had been vessels for the ghosts for a very long time. They could no longer be awakened. Gao Ming pulled them into his heart. “Xin Lu is a place of torment for you. You might as well be Han Hai’s citizens.”

No. 2 said nothing. After their short interactions, Gao Ming believed No. 2 was more suitable for Han Hai than Xin Lu.
