Horror Game Designer-Chapter 681: A New Dream Ghost
Gao Ming knew that Ji Zhe had misunderstood him. He was not there to deal with the fleshy tree or to reclaim the Fear Illness. The Fear Illness’ death portrait had reached the stage where more than a few Dream Ghosts had to work together to extricate it.
“I am highly compatible with the Fear Illness. Even though I’m not its owner, I’m a part of the portrait.” Ji Zhe was one of the most normal kids in Class 13. He was not valued or validated. He presented a carefree personality on the surface but he had a sensitive heart. His exterior was to cover up his real self.
The pressure from the God of Flesh and Blood dissipated. Gao Ming took out a mud figurine that he found at Dream Break Town. “I respect your decision but I will provide you with other choices. This vessel contains my blood and a power called faith. It can make wishes come true. If you wish to leave the tree, you can temporarily possess it.”
Gao Ming never forced people to do anything. Gao Ming’s heartbeat returned to normal after he left the tree hole. Fear was instrumental in Han Hai. The fact that the Fear Illness and Ji Zhe had taken such deep roots in Han Hai placed pressure on him.
“This man has the potential to become a Dream Ghost.”
He turned back to look. The giant tree was like a world formed by fear. The luscious canopy was like a city in the sky. Many disciples of fear lived in it. Some of them were morphed from humans and others were monsters that crawled out of the shadow world. Influenced by fear, they lived together peacefully.
“This is a world manifested in the savior's dream. I didn’t expect it to come true like this.”
Gao Ming and the Leader of Team One came to the education block.
After becoming a Dream Ghost, Gao Ming’s sensory ability was sharper than before. Headmistress Yan’s presence was like a candle in the wind. However, it was bright in the dark. Gao Ming knocked on the door politely. After he gained permission, he entered Classroom 13.
The silver-haired Yan Xizhi stood on the podium to teach the class of mutated students. She was dressed like she was when she was still alive, clean and simple. If not for the curses on her left face, no one could tell she was a Dream Ghost.
“Class, I need you to study on your own for a while.” Yan Xizhi didn’t want the kids to be disturbed. She got Gao Ming to walk to another classroom at the end of the corridor. It was empty. “You’re not here just to visit me. What do you want?”
“You have entered the black mist to fight the unknown. What do you think of them?” Gao Ming was direct.
“They are scary but they do not mean to kill. They just wanted to chase me back to Han Hai. If they really wanted to harm me, I wouldn’t be here today.” Yan Xizhi touched the curses on her face. The indelible mark appeared to be a warning to her.
“Han Hai Blood City was destroyed. That’s why Dream Ghosts are weaker than the Unmentionables.” Gao Ming shared with her the truth. “To change that, we have to rebuild the Blood City.”
“Let me think about it…” Yan Xizhi knew this was a path of no return. This was a challenge to the other Blood Cities. No matter the results, they would fully anger the scary existences. Han Hai would be thrown into chaos.
“Do you wish for your students to live in a cage like animals forever? Do you not wish for them to witness the real sky?” Gao Ming knew Headmistress Yan had a great sense of morality so he appealed to that. “The fear of resistance places one in a constant state of danger and anxiety.” Gao Ming talked about the students and the collapse of Han De Private Academy. He used half an hour to persuade Yan Xizhi.
“This is too risky. We need to be prepared.” A ghost pattern appeared on Yan Xizhi’s palm. She continued after she confirmed that everything was fine. “What you mentioned aligns with what I saw. However, I discovered something else in the black mist. There have been recent conflicts between the Blood Cities. That is why the black mist has been leaking into Han Hai. Some Blood Cities want to take over Han Hai, while the others believe that since Han Hai is the strangest Blood City, they cannot afford to put their guard down.”
“Is Han Hai the strangest Blood City?” Gao Ming paid close attention because Yan Xizhi was the only Dream Ghost who had been inside the black mist.
“That is what they say. They might be stronger than Dream Ghosts, but they do not dare to enter Han Hai alone. I don’t know what they’re afraid of, but I believe this city hides many more secrets than we realise.” Yan Xizhi plucked out her hair. “I don’t know Han Hai’s secrets, but you can check out the investigation centre headquarters. In any case, you need their help to rebuild Han Hai.”
“I have the same idea.” Gao Ming smiled. “That’s why I’m inviting you to join me when I visit them.”
Yan Xizhi scanned Gao Ming. She could sense the strong presence in his heart. “Do you not trust them?”
“If the investigation centre is one-tenth as moral as you are, I won’t be so cautious.”
“What a slick tongue.” Yan Xizhi shook her head. “While you were gone, a new Dream Ghost appeared in Han Hai South City Zone Six. Its name is Gui Yuan. There was no precursor to its appearance. I don’t know anything about it. There are too many mysteries surrounding Gui Yuan. You have to be careful.”
“South City Zone Six?” Gao Ming didn’t encounter such a Dream Ghost in any of the futures. Han Hai South City was relatively safe. Even after the tragedy, people still lived there.
“I heard from the students from the south that once you made a wish to that Dream Ghost, it would appear in your dream. While it fulfilled your wish, it would take something away from you.” Yan Xizhi was troubled. “It hasn’t fully attacked Han Hai, but it has been trying to build a set of new rules. As more people make wishes, it’ll become more powerful.”
A new future appeared in Han Hai. This new Dream Ghost told Gao Ming that he had successfully moved fate. Han Hai moved away from the scripted fate into an unknown future.
“Do you wish for me to meet Gui Yuan?” Gao Ming picked up the intent in her words.
“Are you not curious? We have met many people who have the potential to become Dream Ghosts, but almost all of them fail to take the last step. However, someone whom we haven’t heard of completed that transformation.”
