"How are you doing?" Saeko asked this question as she looked at Shizuka who was quiet which was very usually compared to her normal self

But no one can blame her right now since she is someone who has been with Kaneki more than anyone else

And not to mention it’s clear as day how much she cares about Kaneki which is the reason it’s not surprising at the fact she must be feeling scared about Kaneki well well-being right now

"I am fine~" Shizuka replied this even though she tried to sound positive as always but unfortunately right now she is fooling no one since there is a clear difference in her tone compared to her usual easy-going tone

Unfortunately, no one speaks about this even though all of them can tell that she is really not her usual self since they dont know how and not to mention they think they have no right to do so since Shizuka knows Kaneki better than anyone else

"I believed in him, so I am sure he will be back soon to me~" Shizuka continued to speak this as she tried to convince them and even though she herself believed in him but doubts were in her mind since she knew this wasn’t a normal enemy

’Please be safe... and come back to me’ Shizuka inwardly said this in her mind as she prayed for Kaneki’s safety and wanted nothing but for him to return to her safely 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Back to the present time....

Kaneki has been running to find Shizuka and others even though it might be a difficult task for others but not for him since Kaneki can smell humans

Not dead rather alive since he just needs to follow the fresh scent of humans which isn’t difficult and not to mention his brain has already registered the scent of Shizuka and others

So finding them is not really an issue and not to mention, he knows that he is going in the correct direction since he can see zombie bodies slashed

And knows this work has been done by Saeko even though he can also see zombies with bullets inside them but guns are weapons that can be used by anyone

But swords require skills and since he remembered Saeko’s skills which is the reason she knows this is work done by Saeko after seeing how the cuts on zombie bodies

’It seems they thought pretty safely’ Kaneki couldn’t help but say this in his mind with relief in her mind as this means all of them are safe

He was really worried that they would manage to move forward safely or not especially for Shizuka but it seems her worries were useless

Due to the sudden enemy showing he has no choice but to tell them to go forward without him since if they stay behind then there is a chance that the enemy will attack them or another enemy will show up

Which is the reason he needs them to go forward without him since that moment zombies were the least of his worries since there are many threats in such a lawless place

He continued to follow the scent and after a while, he finally managed to reach a place where they seemed to hide

After reaching here, he was finally able to catch his breath as he knew all of them were safe since he now sensed them from this distance

*THUD!!*

Before he could even enter the building, the gate of the building burst open as Shizuka ran towards and Kaneki noticed there were tears in her eyes

*hug*

Shizuka ran as fast as she could and as soon as she reached Kaneki, she very tightly embraced her even though her level of strength was nowhere near enough to hurt him

Kaneki was stunned at this thinking that she might be really scared about leaving her, well he dont blame her since it’s natural

After all, she is just a normal person, living a normal life and she has never seen such bloodshed or been in such a situation where she can die at any moment even by allies, so it’s natural for her to be afraid

But it’s pretty uncomfortable for him to get grabbed by like this, anyway looking at the teary face of Shizuka he decided to let it slide now and let Shizuka do as she likes

"Th-thank g-god, y-gou re-return sa-safely to m-me" Shizuka said this in a sobbing tone while she spoke in a a shuttering voice

’She.....was worried about me’ Kaneki didnt help but said this in his mind thinking that rather than herself she was more worried about him

He also knows this is by no means a lie since he can hear her heartbeat which has no change when she said that meaning she really meant that

’Really she cared about me that much....’ Kaneki couldn’t help but say this in his mind as this might be the only second time he had seen her cry

From her experience being with her, he knows Shizuka is strong not by strength rather by will and mental power

Since she always put a smile on her face at any problem, the most recent example is this zombie outbreak as many people cried, became angry, and started to panic

Shizuka didnt lose her cheerfulness which was what he really liked about her and he couldn’t help but feel a little bit of envy towards her regarding this

It didnt take long until others also came outside as even though they wanna welcome him back and hug him too but they didnt as they knew Shizuka were the most worried one among them as well as the one who had a bond with him

So they waited and gave them a room even though it’s only been a few hours since they got separated but surviving in a place like where human-eating monsters are roaming, so it’s natural that a few hours must be like days for Shizuka who was separated from Kaneki
