House of The Dragon-A God Amongst Men-Chapter 158: Conversion
Chapter 158 - Conversion
(Third Person POV)
[The Stormlands, Some Days Later]
After Drakken decimated the Dornish army and killed the Lord of House Dayne, stealing their ancestral sword, Dawn, he made his way back to the encampment where Maegelle was kept safe.
The Duskguard had kept the region secured, going from village to village and ensuring that no Essosi remained. If there were any signs of resistance, they did not show mercy to the soldiers who had deserted the fierce battles.
Word had reached that King Jaehaerys met up with Drakken and after the two of them spoke, the God of War and Death called a ceasefire on the Duskguard. As the thousands of Marked Ones retreated back to their camps respectively and awaited orders, Drakken simply waited in his camp.
He had been adamant about one thing; plunging the Stormlands in a tempest.
And that is what happened.
Ammaria descended upon the region, bringing forth a powerful storm that ravaged the lands like nothing, forcing smallfolk and highborn alike to shelter and wiping out any of those that were defenseless.
The storm raged for an entire day, devastating the region and leaving innocents helpless.
But this was something that did not bother Drakken, as he had his Duskguard to lend aid to those who needed them. The Smallfolk who sought refuge from the storm were sheltered in the large encampments, where the storm miraculously did not affect. The Duskguard and their camps were untouched by Ammaria's tempest, by her powerful winds, her terrible rain, and her destructive lightning.
The Storm Goddess flew through the clouds, roaring loudly, being heard all around the Stormlands as her thunder shook the air and her lightning struck the land, destroying everything indiscriminately.
It was during this time that those smallfolk realized one thing: This was the work of a god. Ammaria was set upon the Stormlands as a punishment to those who did not believe in the Trinity, that is the conclusion they had come to.
The thing is, the entire realm knew about the Trinity, the new religion started by House Drakkengard. But they were not interested in it, only those who were affected by the war in the riverlands were converted to Drakken's side, fueling his divinity.
Those who did not live in the Riverlands had not been touched by the grace of the Trinity, not even those in the Westerlands, as House Lannister had a simple alliance with House Drakkengard.
And now, with the conflict in the Stormlands, followed by the natural disaster that is Ammaria, the people had begun to believe.
They had no choice.
They came to the conclusion that if they prayed to the Trinity, to Drakken, they would be spared from Ammaria's tempest.
And perhaps that is what Drakken had planned.
Perhaps he wanted more people to convert to his religion, to fuel his divinity and to force people away from the Faith of The Seven.
After all, this was but a conflict of divine beings.
Drakken is a god after all.

"My Lord." Jon said as he approached Drakken, who sat on a chair, "We have received many reports from the camps all around the region...."
Drakken was looking at the sky, dark with stormclouds, crackling with lightning. In the far distance, the storm was ravaging the lands, leaving the area he was in alone.
"Hm?" Drakken said with a slight smirk, "What is it?"
"The smallfolk are willing to convert to the Trinity." Jon said, "So long as the promise of Ammaria's storm passing is ensured."
"Hm...." Drakken said, "Interesting....."
"Innocent Smallfolk are always spared, My Lord. Just as you desire." Jon said, "They are no soldiers, they bear no use for your Battlefields....they will not fuel you should they die in them."
"Right." Drakken said, "They are better off being left alive, with the hope of them converting. This is good...."
"What should we do?" Jon asked
Drakken chuckled, "Tell them that the storm will pass the next day." He said, "I want shrines built within three days, and if not all of them are built, the storm will return. "
"As you wish." He said, "But they won't receive the Mark if they do not go to the Obelisk at Harrenhal."
"We can bring the Obelisk to the Stormlands, there is no need to worry." Drakken stood up, "All we need is a single piece of it and we bind it to the shrines. I am a God, after all, Jon. It will work as I will it...."
"That makes sense. I humbly apologize." Jon bowed slightly
"Send the message." Drakken said with a smirk, "We are leaving....it is time we return home."
"Yessir." Jon nodded before turning around and walking around
Drakken sighed and turned around, walking over to his tent and entering it.
"Ah..." He said with a smirk, "Mya would have loved this, the sight of the storm ravaging a war-torn land...."
He was speaking to Maegelle, who was sitting on a chair with a cup of wine in her hand. Her hair was set loose on her shoulders and her eyes seemed to give off a bright glint. Drakken immediately noticed that her fair skin was also glowing more than usual. She was far more beautiful than he was used to.
The mere sight of her beauty was enough to rile Drakken up but he stayed composed.
"My Lord....." She said softly
Drakken stood in front of her, "Maegelle...." He said, "We'll depart soon...." ƒrēenovelkiss.com
"We....are going home?" She asked
"Yes." He said as he walked over to her, "We are."
"I miss Riktor and Sylas...." Maegelle said with a slight smile, "I am glad....."
Drakken walked around her and gently placed his hands on her shoulders, "I am sure they miss you too." He said as he leaned down to her, "As do Mya and Daranne....."
Maegelle did not react to this, "I wonder if the boys ate well...." She said with a smile on her face, "Just thinking about them make me smile....."
"Maegelle...." Drakken stroked her hair with one hand as he rubbed her shoulder with the other, "We need to speak....."
"W-What is it?" She said
"During that whole ordeal....with the sword...." Drakken said, "You begged your Father not to kill me....because of what would happen.....I had lied to him that should I die, everything that i created would be left powerless....my Beasts...my Duskguard....."
"R-Right....." She said
"But you knew the truth, Maegelle...." Drakken said as he placed his hand on her chin, having her look at him, "You did not mention the Dark Shade.....not even a whimper.....did it cross your mind?"
Maegelle stared at him for a few seconds, "N-No..." She said finally, "I did not.....that is not something that I would easily tell anyone...."
"That is loyalty...." Drakken kissed her cheek, "That is something I gladly reward....."
He then straightened up, patting her shoulder gently as Maegelle simply sat there, a surprised look on her face.
"T-Thank you...." She said softly
"Whatever you desire of me..." Drakken said as he walked over to the table, "Just ask. Speak your mind."
"I....." Maegelle started, "I want....."
Drakken poured himself a cup of wine, "Go on." He said, "Say it."
Maegelle frowned and looked down, "I want...." She repeated, "N-Nothing....."
Drakken looked at her, "Hm?"
"I have....Everything I could hope for...." Maegelle said with a slight smile, looking at him, "You made that possible, Lord Drakken."
"I see." Drakken turned away from her, a smirk on his face, "That is good, Maegelle.....well.....I suppose that after going home...."
"We'll resume our mundane lives."
