How I Tame My Valkyrie Harem-Chapter 60: Wolf Lord Part 5
I stayed on guard for the beast’s tackle. The Wolf Lord didn’t change physically, but that dark aura around it, its presence, felt more threatening than before. I didn’t know what was waiting for me, but I knew that I couldn’t be reckless. Our fight was only beginning.
And then, faster than before, the monster rushed towards me. Its paw was kicking up the dirt as it walked. Its killing intent made it look like a demonic supernatural force destroying everything in its way.
Thanks to my increased Agility Points, I managed to escape its monstrosity’s charge. It wasn’t the same monster as before. I needed to know what I was up against, so I used my appraisal skill. The monster’s status shocked me completely. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

The good news was that it didn’t regain its Health Points, so we didn’t need to damage it all over again. However, its Strength Points were absurdly high.
’Its Strength Points doubled!? What kind of sick joke is it?!’ I thought inwardly. Only one explanation came to my mind.
A skill. The creature’s Mana Points went to zero right after it changed completely. Probably, at the cost of all its mana, it doubled its strength. I didn’t want to know how much damage one single hit would cause me.
From a distance, I could hear Erina shooting. It was different from when she shot the monster before. I couldn’t believe what happened before my eyes. I swear, I saw the bullet coming directly at the Wolf’s throat, but the bullet didn’t hit it.
Erina didn’t miss it; her shot was perfect. I didn’t doubt that. However, the bullet was repelled right before it could reach its skin. The bullet landed a bit away from the creature, making a hole in the ground.
If the girls were watching, they could tell how much worse our situation had become. Bullets were now useless against the Wolf Lord. Our only way to harm the beast was my sword. At least I hoped it could still be.
Alicia used her Holy Light as planned, trying to stun the monster once more, but her efforts were for nothing. Her most effective skill, the crucial part of our plan, didn’t make the monster stop. The monster was still moving freely, as if her light was just an annoyance.
Justine tried her ice magic. If she couldn’t damage the monster, she tried to freeze its feet, trying to stop its movements, but her magic was easily destroyed. Bullets, Holy Light, and magic. All the backup that I had until now was nullified. And now the Wolf wanted to have its revenge against me, its closest enemy.
The creature attacked furiously without giving an opening for me to counterattack. Several attacks with its claws, sharp as a sword, followed. When it tried to crush me from above, I made a feint and tried to attack, not knowing if my attack would be blocked like the others. The results shocked me.
I didn’t know why, but my sword worked normally as always. Maybe because it was not magic or a projectile. I didn’t know, but it was still a faint hope. My last attack worked so well that it angered the monster, making it counter me with its paw, a strike right at my chest. The impact of this monstrosity threw me meters away from it.
My head was dizzy when I landed. My eyes were looking at the ground, and then drops of blood started to drip on the earth. I had a strange sensation in my chest, starting to radiate pain around my body. I touched the area with my hand and then I understood where the blood was coming from.
When the monster attacked me, its claws ripped my skin apart. Three major slashes were crossing my chest, with blood coming from them.
’It hurts!’ I suppressed my urge to scream.
’One single attack almost slashed me in half...’ I thought that while spilling blood from my mouth. ’If I didn’t gain Defense Points, I might have been killed by that last hit.’
I needed to go back to fight. I was the only one that could defeat that thing. ’Come on, stupid body!’
I planted my sword in the ground, trying to stand up to fight, but the strength had already left my legs. I only felt pain; my body didn’t want to fight anymore. My body wasn’t obeying my brain. It was ready to let the Wolf eat from its flesh.
"Don’t mess with me! I refuse to end like this! Stand up!" Those words escaped from me out of frustration, but trying to stand on my legs only caused pain in my lower body. The thread of hope I still had looked thinner in the presence of those scissors. As the monster was getting closer, I thought that I was done for.
But then, I felt something warm covering my body. It felt like someone I knew was hugging me kindly, but it was only me there. I looked at my hand around the sword, and I saw a green light covering it. But it wasn’t just my hand. That magical energy was shining all around my body.
The three cuts across my chest were starting to close, not completely, but enough to stop the bleeding. I felt like a big weight had left my legs, now capable of standing up once again.
My vision was focusing on the foe before me, but I knew what that green aura was. "Alicia..."
Alicia was using Heal, even from that distance. Even though her Holy Light was useless, she wasn’t giving up. And the Saintess trusted that I wouldn’t give up too. She told me she would become the best healer, and as a healer she would support me as much as I could fight.
I felt refreshed as if the last attack hadn’t occurred, not because of Alicia’s healing power, but because she had faith in me. And I didn’t want to let her down.
This time I rushed against the Wolf Lord. I had wasted enough time on the ground; one second more was unacceptable. The beast tried to attack, but I was faster than it. I had better status, and I was not afraid of it anymore.
I was filled with courage, determined to put an end to it. That determination made me more capable of avoiding its attacks. Several strikes, left and right, raised the dirt from the ground, but the Wolf Lord couldn’t reach me. It was a monster, but it still had physical limits. When the monster’s body relaxed after so many failed offensive maneuvers, I took advantage of that opening and used one of my skills against it.
"Thunderblade." I coldly called my Swordmaster skill. One single strike, the fastest blow I could use to take advantage of its flaw, slashed its paw. It was still connected to its body, but I knew it was heavily damaged. The tables had turned in my favor.
Without giving any rest, I went for another offense. "Flash Thrasher!"
While I had that boost of speed thanks to Flash Thrasher, I cut the Wolf Lord all over its body. Several blows hit its body almost simultaneously, spilling its crimson blood around the woods. It barked in pain, but its body stood still. I wasn’t the only one that didn’t want to accept defeat.
The monster hastily ran toward me with its jaws wide open, almost reaching me. I wasn’t prepared for its counterattack.
However, it hit its head in midair. I looked dumbfounded at the shield, almost transparent with golden symbols covering it, between us, protecting me. It was my first time seeing that, but I knew it was the Saintess’ skill for physical protection, Barrier.
"Thank you, Alicia." I whispered, even though she was too far to hear me.
She used all the mana she had thanks to the potions, so my backup was really over. My Ero Boost skill could wear off at any moment, and if I didn’t defeat this thing until then, we were all going to die.
’I refuse to let that happen. I refuse to let Alicia’s help be in vain.’ I thought inwardly, just to call for my power once again, "Flash Thrasher!"
I didn’t have enough mana to use any other skill, but I didn’t care. My sword relentlessly attacked the Wolf Lord. Twice, three times, four times. I lost count of how many strikes my sword gave the creature. The steel might break from the usage, but if it did, I would use my fists instead. I would fight until death. When I realized my back was facing the beast, my speed boost was over, and I felt my lungs heavier.
"Ah... Ah..." After so many blows, it was natural to feel tired, but I couldn’t fail, not now.
I turned around, looking at the monster. Its majestic fur was all covered in wounds. But it was still standing in front of me. My breath was heavy; I still had the will to fight, but I only had enough strength to hold my weapon.
’Just die already!’ I thought.
The three-meter-high beast looked down at me, without fury. I didn’t feel any animosity against me anymore. It wouldn’t fight again. Not with me, or with anyone else. Its body shook and then crumbled to the ground. The Wolf Lord’s body started to become ashes, as monsters do when they die. That fight was finally over.
