Chapter 33: Renji Kurogane (2)

A neural implant, one that not a lot of people trust around the city. I just am willing to take the gamble at this point.

"I’ll do it." I said without any hesitation in my voice.

"Come get comfy on this operation table then, I’ll get to work immediately." Junji replied with excitement and a big smile on his face.

I did exactly as he told me and got comfortable on the operation table. It was cold, definitely hasn’t had anyone on it yet today. The machines around it were definitely helpful with installing metal.

Machines began to whirl around me as I laid there, he had me lay on my back since it wasn’t a very complicated installation.

"Is there anything else you believe you want done while I have you up here?" Junji asked before he begins.

I looked down at my left arm, it would probably be best to replace it while I have the opportunity to do so. It’ll cost everything I have left... Which isn’t all that much.

"My left arm, I want to replace it with a good piece of metal. It’d be nice to have a stronger left arm than I previously did. This one won’t help me do anything." I responded while still staring down at my arm.

"You got it. A neural implant with this little chip and the left arm is going to be replaced. Can you afford a RZR-6789?" He questioned while pulling out a cybernetic arm.

A full silver arm with a red light towards the elbow, it was definitely a perfect arm for me.

"Yes." I answered without wasting a second.

"Alright. Bite down on this and I’ll strap your body in." He said as he went to put something in my mouth.

I opened up my mouth and he put something in for me to bite onto, these surgeries are usually done while awake. Most doctors don’t care to waste the time putting people under.

It took a second before he started but then I finally heard the sounds of the tools buzzing as they went next to my head.

"This is going to hold your head completely still, don’t panic." Junji assured me.

Some sort of clamps held my head completely still, not long after I could hear a high pitched whining as a drill went into the side of my head.

My thoughts were basically impossible to put together as Junji did his work with the chip on the side of my head. It didn’t make sense to me how people wouldn’t notice this kind of thing.

Suddenly I could feel his cold hands press against my head as he put the chip into my head.

"This will obviously take a bit of wire to work properly so I apologize but I promise no one will know about it." Junji spoke up once again as he digs around in the side of my head.

A few more sounds of the machines whirling around my head before he finally moved his hands away from it. Moments passed before the machine closed everything shut on the side of my head.

All I could feel was this intense pressure going throughout my head as I laid there staring at the dirty walls around me. The pain was definitely there but I couldn’t focus on it right this second.

Do not worry. Everything will work out fine.

Where did that voice come from?! Junji didn’t say anything to me and there’s no one else around the room. It must be a side effect from this damn chip, it was probably experimental.

"I’m moving onto your arm now. Let’s get this done so you can get used to the new you." Junji said with excitement in his voice.

Machines moved past my field of vision down to my left arm, without wasting a second it began to slice through my skin, then my muscle, and finally my bone.

Every inch of my body wanted to react and scream out in agony as this went on but instead I just bite down harder. Forcing myself to push through it all.

Zero would never be a bitch about any of this so I need to do the same thing he would... Push through it all. He would tell me that this is nothing.

Blood painted the floor along with my previous arm that was still lingering there as well. I somehow found myself conscious enough to watch this process.

I’m sure it wouldn’t be much longer till I passed out from the amount of pain coursing throughout my entire body. But I could see Junji installing the different wires and pieces to make the arm functional.

Time felt as if it was passing by in the slowest way possible as this surgery continued on.

An hour finally seemed to pass by as the surgery finished. My arm was completely replaced by this new one he called the RZR-6789.

"Woooo!!! I love my job. It is such a thrill to do this kind of work. I’ll inject you with a bit of meds to ease you into the new metal but then you’ll be good to go." Junji said with confidence.

Finally I blacked out, waking up to the sight of the room completely cleaned up. No blood or limbs in sight. My arm was also cleaned up and I could move it just like normal.

The feeling was definitely a lot different than my original one but it wasn’t bad.

"Good morning sunshine. Everything feeling alright to you?" Junji asked with joy in his voice.

"It all feels like it should. I never said my name before, it was rude of me. Renji is my name." I responded while looking down and moving my new arm.

"Renji huh, well I think we’ll be doing business for the long run. I give everyone one freebie so enjoy your one and only freebie. It has kept me in business for a long time." Junji said while smiling.
