Humanity.exe-Chapter 43: Struggle (5)

Hiding half of my face probably wouldn’t be enough so it is better to use the full mask version of this. I pressed the side of the mask and the rest of it formed onto my face within a few moments.

The full thing was a lot better looking anyway so I honestly prefer it that way. I also put in my comm to see if it still functions the way it should.

"Reika, testing." I said over the comm.

I don’t even know if she has one in since we haven’t really had a need for them but I guess it was worth a try either way. Usually it is better than trying to rely on phones all the time to communicate.

After a few seconds of static I could finally hear something. "I was wondering when we’d be using these again. I can hear you." Reika replied over the comm with a bit of excitement in her voice.

Glad it works, best to get to work so I can make sure I haven’t sat around too much. It is the best possible time for me to get out in the field again.

I’m not showing my face right away since a lot of people seem to be angry with us. I’m no coward but it would help give me some time to make sure my skills haven’t dulled too much.

I didn’t see the need to say much more so I left the headquarters without too many people noticing. I’m sure Rezex isn’t blind like the rest of the new members.

But it was time for me to find some scum on the streets and handle them.

It didn’t take very long for me to find some people since I climbed up to the top of one of the buildings for a better view on everything. The city was definitely nice to see from up here, honestly you wouldn’t think much of the filth below if you had this view.

"Where’d you go Zero?" Reika asked with a bit of a curious tone over the comm.

"Needed to investigate some things myself and make sure everything works. I haven’t been out in the streets in awhile." I answered quietly over the comm.

I probably don’t need to be that quiet since there isn’t really a whole lot of people that can hear me. I’m on a damn rooftop so it doesn’t matter.

There are definitely people below though, I saw them which is why I came up here in the first place. They honestly look like old Vantablade members by the way they dress.

I was pretty positive that I wiped out all of the vantablade gang so I’d be surprised if any are alive. It is kind of shocking in all honesty.

After mounting the LZR-01 I looked through the scope at the people down below and I could definitely see some guys representing Vantablade. They weren’t alone by any means either.

"Reika, has anything about Vantablade popped up recently?" I asked with a bit of curiosity over the comm.

It was absolutely silent for quite a few moments before she finally decided to give me some sort of response.

"Someone is trying to revive the gang. I don’t see anything about a name specifically but they are trying to make a comeback." Reika answered before the comm went silent again.

So Vantablade wants to try to come back after getting absolutely wiped out? I’m surprised anyone would want a gang like that to make a comeback in the first place.

It is a good thing that I’m out here to wipe out some scum in the streets anyway.

As I’m about to pull the trigger I get a feeling as if someone is behind me watching what I’m doing. Immediately I snatch my deagle out from my holster and aim behind me towards where I think someone is.

"I’m surprised you knew I was here. I was pretty positive that I didn’t make a sound." The man said.

After a few moments I realized that it was the wraith standing there before me.

"Why would you be here?" I asked while still aiming right at him.

Even if it is Renji, I won’t take my chances with him. There’s still the possibility he might try to attack me or something since he didn’t reveal who he was last time either.

"I like to scout things myself and see what is going on in the streets." Wraith answered without any hesitation.

"So you weren’t going to say anything if I didn’t turn around?" I questioned.

"No, I would’ve. That’s quite the mask you got on, can’t say it suits you but it does hide who you are." Wraith responded while putting his hands in his pockets.

"If you don’t want anything from me and don’t plan to talk about anything important, I’d prefer to get back to what I’m doing." I said with a bit of irritation in my voice.

"Go ahead. I’ll see you again soon anyway." Wraith replied before jumping off the rooftop.

I didn’t bother looking for where he jumped or where he would land so I just focused on figuring out the most effective way to kill them all.

Briefly I checked around my surroundings quick to make sure no one else was hiding like wraith just was and then I made sure I had a clean exit to go for.

Everything seems to be pretty solid so maybe it’s about time I start spilling some blood again. It has been quite some time since I’ve actually gotten the chance to do so.

These assholes are the perfect opportunity for me to do so.

I aimed in and watched as they all gathered around, talking about whatever it was they were talking about. I began to squeeze the trigger and listened as the LZR-01 gave it’s beautiful hum once again.

KRRRRZ- BANG!!!!!

The first bullet immediately pierced through two of their skulls and their bodies dropped to the floor in a matter of seconds.
