Humanity.exe-Chapter 46: The Past (2)

SPLATTER!!!! Blood immediately hit the ground after running down his back within a matter of seconds.

"You little shit!!!" He shouted with pain in his voice.

Without thinking I pulled the knife out and fell backwards a few steps while just barely managing to stay standing.

Blood was all over my hands... Something that I wasn’t used to in the slightest but I wasn’t shaking anymore. The pain was just pulsating in my ribs as I forced myself to stay standing.

Clang!!! The bat fell onto the floor, it just slipped right out of his hand all of a sudden. It was almost like the strength in his grip just disappeared.

"F...F*CK you asshole." I just barely managed to say while holding the knife tightly in my hands.

Thud. He fell onto his knees for a moment while looking directly at me.

I’m not completely dumb. I stabbed it into the center of his spine or at least that’s where I was aiming. I pushed it as deep as I could when it pierced through him.

Obviously his metal wasn’t enough to help prevent him from taking that kind of damage out of nowhere. This wasn’t something a kid like me should be dealing with right now but sometimes you have to grow up like this.

This world isn’t meant for the weak.

The man started to reach for something before Renji suddenly grabbed onto his arm. "Come on!!" He shouted with the remainder of his strength.

I wasn’t going to waste my brothers efforts to help me, I ran towards the man and drove the knife straight into his throat this time.

Obviously his cybernetics weren’t doing him any good since he didn’t even really use them much. Maybe the stab wound to the center of his spine f*cked everything up.

Thud!!!! His body hit the floor with the knife still in his throat as blood slowly started to pile up around him.

"Are you okay Renji...?" I asked weakly while holding onto my stomach.

"My body hurts..." Renji answered before falling backwards.

Luck was on our side that night, dad didn’t take long to come back through the door after all of that happened. A TRZ-54 Lighthandle was in his hands.

A pistol like that was one of a kind at this point in time and was actually quite hard to acquire. This was before netwire guns were the go to for everything.

I could see his all black suit with his red tie, white undershirt, black slicked back hair, blue eyes, and the serious look on his face. He wasn’t happy to see that someone broke into our home.

Some guys showed up to the house after that to treat us, they even got rid of the body when they finished taking care of us.

"The boys will be fine. ***** has some broken ribs but I gave him an injection so he’ll be alright within a day or two. Renji will just need some rest for a few days." The doctor said with a laid back tone.

"Good. Seems I’ll be making some arrangements to handle the guys who decided to attack my home. Quite a mistake to make." Dad responded with a serious look on his face.

I’ll never forget how pissed he was about the man who broke into our home. That was also the first time I ever killed someone... I honestly don’t regret it in the slightest.

Renji was pretty damn scarred after that for quite some time and it carried throughout the years.

I know he’s grown in some ways but it isn’t really the greatest thing for him. Being beaten like that and then watching his brother kill someone...

(2081. Just Reaching the Kuroten Headquarters.)

The walk back to the headquarters was quite peaceful since a few people saw exactly what I did to those pricks. I wasn’t going to just walk through the front entrance though since I snuck out to avoid any grief.

It didn’t take me long to sneak back inside of my room, the blood was all over my clothes as well.

Great. I’ll have to clean these clothes as well which is a pain in the ass since we are still working on getting the proper equipment. This place will be perfect in no time though so it is only a matter of time.

I’m sure Reika will have some questions for me if she ends up seeing these clothes somehow.

She usually comes by quite a bit so it wouldn’t be that surprising at this point in time. Some members probably even make some assumptions about the two of us but I don’t really care for it.

There’s too much work to be done, I don’t have the time for a relationship.

Looking in the mirror I could see some blood got onto my face as well so I quickly washed it off in the bathroom. I didn’t really want to walk around with blood all over me.

After cleaning up I took a seat on my bed while looking down at my hands once again.

I have grown in more ways than one over the years but I don’t think I would’ve been able to do what I do without the events of that day.

I learned that I have what it takes to kill someone if it means saving someone important to me. My family will always come first, no matter what.

That’s just the way I function.

Knock. Knock. Knock. A couple of knocks on my door immediately took me out from my thoughts. "Come in." I said loud enough for whoever it was to hear.

To my surprise it was actually Rezex this time around, not Reika. I wouldn’t have expected her to knock since she’s gotten comfortable and knew I was out originally. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖

At least I think she knew I was out in the field for a bit.

"I might’ve found a job for you Zero. I know you’re the boss but I think this one is perfect for you." Rezex said with a bit of excitement in his voice.
