HUNTED-Chapter 351: Taste of Vengeance (6)
"Are you really going to wait five minutes?" Harry asked as he removed his trainers and shorts. The lycan was going to act as a sheepdog. He wasn’t going to hurt the fucker but send him straight to Aldric.
Aldric smirked as his bones started to break and elongate, black fur sprouting through ripped skin until he stood there in his lycan form.
"What do you think?" He mind-linked Harry. It had only been two minutes, but his patience had gone.
Callan was on the brink of completely losing it on Harry as well as the others. Harry smirked and shifted as Aldric leapt forwards onto all fours and started smelling Dominic’s scent on the earth. They wanted Mark first, Aldric and his wolf, but he wanted the man to have a false sense of freedom.
Without much force from Callan, his wolf ripped the reins from Aldric and took control. Whether it was he or his wolf in control, they would still get what they wanted. Callan needed this more; it plagued their minds, thoughts of their mate and the pain she went through. The pain of not having her mate there, not protecting her and then the act itself.
Emma was gone now, and a part of them blamed themselves. But their blinding anger toward those responsible pushed their guilt away.
The lycan raced across the field, away from the campsite in front of the lake and away from the woods where Mark ran to. Harry ran on all fours in that direction anyway. He would scare Mark once he found him.
Callan sprinted, his rage engulfing them, fuelling them, their eyes pulsed, and the outskirts of their vision were spotted in red. Blood lust. Blood lust for one of the men who killed their mate. The scent of the man’s sweat grew stronger, his fear mixing in with it.
Dominic could barely see in front of him, but the human was ’smart’ to go towards the direction where the occasional sound of a car passed in the distance.
The main road. It would have spoiled their plans.
"Stupid human," Callan growled as the distance between them shortened. He rounded on him, letting the sounds of his paws thudding against the earth, making Dominic aware and scared of his presence. He started to turn, unknowingly curving back towards the lake as Callan was directing him there.
The man’s heart pounded loudly, and his breaths came out ragged, urging Callan to maim him. Those would be his last breaths. At that thought, Callan sped up.
Dominic looked over his shoulder, but it was too late as a scream escaped his lips. Callan leapt and sunk his canines into his neck; at the same time, his claws shredded his back. The cries died off as his body grew limp under the large lycan.

"I’ve kept Mark in the woods. Want me to bring him to you?" Harry asked through a mind-link after hearing Dominic’s cries go silent.
"No," Callan growled back ferociously. "We’ll come to him."
Callan ripped a chunk out of Dominic’s neck and spat it across the grass, dismissing him completely before pulling out his claws to the man’s back. The lycan stood then on his back legs, blood dripping down his fur, blue eyes blazing up at the starry sky. He released a loud howl, feeling the release of removing one more of his wife’s killers from the world.
Callan spun around, his mind narrowing down, vision going redder as his thoughts turned to Mark. Pounding across the grass, leaping and making the grass flatten under him, he sped to the woods. It was only small, but Mark’s smell coated bushes and trees and was stronger in some of the dirt.
It looked as though the man rolled around in it and crawled away. He snarled. Harry had a little fun in the meantime. But no blood was spilt.
Harry really had been sending him on a goose chase. The scent was everywhere, even on the trees. Callan focused some more. This time, prowling forwards, paws quiet, nose to the ground, ears alert. He stopped by a tree and stood on his hind legs, claw reaching up the bark as he smelled it, coating some of the trees in the blood still covering his muzzle.
The lycan lost the scent, but the thrill of the hunt was on. By the end of it, he knew whose life he would take. It was disturbing, but he needed to get it done for his wife, his mate. His heart shattered again at the thought of her.
"Focus," Callan growled at Aldric. He quietened his thoughts so Callan could focus on the task at hand and not fall into the pit of despair like how frequently Aldric was catching himself before he did so.
Slowly, Mark’s scent grew stronger, and he stopped by another tree, stood on his hind legs, and looked up. A war cry echoed through the woods, and Mark leapt from a branch towards him with a stick.
"How foolish," Callan and Aldric said at the same time. Mark thought of himself as some sort of hero? A Rambo? Please. It enraged them more that he thought he deserved to live.
Before Mark even made it to the lycan, Callan swatted him like a fly, and he smacked hard into the tree, something breaking in the process. The lycan watched him slowly crawl and hiss in pain, it was his left shoulder, and his body trembled, sobbing as he went. They watched him for a while, watched as his fear consumed him.
Again, they felt nothing, numb as their paws sunk into the mud behind the crawling human. A loud growl rumbled from Callan’s chest, shaking the woods and making Mark stop. He slowly looked up and was struck across the face, his claws leaving bloodied gashes before the lycan sunk his canines into Mark’s calf and started to drag him across the forest floor.
Mark screamed and cried, begging as he tried to clutch at anything to stop the beast from dragging him away, but it was no use. Callan stopped and sunk his jaw into Mark’s back. Again and again, he ripped into his flesh until his cries turned to energy-depleted moans, and the blood loss became too much. His last breath was the last noise he made.
By the time Callan was through with him, Mark was a butchered mess, his body unrecognisable. The lycan breathed heavily, covered in blood but didn’t so much as look in his direction again. A small weight had been lifted off their shoulders, but it would never bring their Emma back.
