"There you are!" Sora jumped from her seat as Keira dragged her feet up the steps to the small lounge area.

Adrian and Celeste were gone, and Keira didn’t see Sebastian or Rhea on the dance floor. Not only did she feel a little dumbfounded by the stranger she’d shamefully made out with, but Sora had also been left on her own in the VIP lounge.

Sora was never bothered about such things, and true to Adrian’s word, she had been playing that game on her phone, ignoring men who tried to make a pass at her. But Keira was bothered by it. She didn’t like leaving any of her friends behind, and like some skank, she did it all to have a little smooch and attention from hot guys.

"I’m sorry," Keira replied in a daze. "I didn’t realise you’d be left by yourself."

Sora shrugged, watching her warily. "I was worried about you. Are you okay? You seem a bit…"

"Drunk?" Keira joked, lightning whatever shock and disappointment she felt from the hot stranger leaving her there on the floor after almost kissing the life out of her.

"Is something wrong with your lips?" Sora peered at her. Keira realised then that she’d been touching them.

"I just had the best kiss I’ve ever had…" She murmured before turning away from the lounge area and heading towards the balcony where smokers polluted the air.

Sora chased after her through the doors, letting them slam behind them. "What?!" She clutched at Keira’s shoulders, holding her in place, and her eyes glittered after she assessed her friend.

"Oh! You’re blushing so hard, and your lips!" She squealed a bit, making a little happy dance. "It was that good, huh?"

Sora sighed, looking at her dreamily.

"I thought you didn’t care about any of that?" Keira asked, still a little dazed and enjoying the cool air, to push away his heated touches and the smell that clung to her like some lingering lover’s caress.

Sora waved her hand. "I don’t care about Rhea’s lovers. They’re always changing, and she can be a little cruel sometimes. You’re a different story, though… It’s not like you do this all the time. So Adrian was as good as he looks, huh?"

"Adrian?" Keira stared at her friend, who was watching her expectantly. She parted her lips to correct Sora, but there were too many eyes here, and she’d had enough drama for one night. "Let’s talk about it at Rhea’s. I need to get some air. I’m feeling a little nauseous."

Sora nodded understandably and peered at her with concern. "Are you okay? Want to go to the toilets? I can hold your hair back-"

Keira waved her off. "I’m not that bad." No, she wasn’t nauseous at all. She just needed the air to cool her down.

"Alright, I’ll see if I can find Rhea…" Sora sighed dramatically. "I hope I don’t catch her in any sordid acts."

Keira snorted. "Good luck with that one."

"Stay here. Don’t go too close to the balcony." Sora was right; not only did some almost die from being too drunk there, but some paparazzi managed to get some photos of the wealthy and famous who went to Broken Fang. However, nobody was ever revealed to have entered the establishment whenever the press tried to discuss the clientele with the place.

Despite this, Keira ended up strolling towards the balcony, where the wind was stronger and the smell of tobacco weaker. Goosebumps erupted along her flesh as the cold night air chilled her body. She was grateful for it and for how it cleared her mind the longer she stayed outside.

It was quieter outside, sort of. People chatted and laughed, with smoke coiling around them while music blasted inside, thumping against the walls. It was causing her a slight headache.

Leaning against the rail, Keira rested her chin on her hand, elbow on the rail and overlooked the balcony and discovered Adrian two floors below. He was smoking by himself as his chauffeur or bodyguard placed his coat over his shoulders.

Keira narrowed her eyes before setting off down the fire escape stairs down the side.

"Miss that’s off limits-"

Keira looked over at the staff member and they stopped their chase upon seeing who it was. Sometimes, her entitled upbringing did come in handy.

She ran down the two floors, cursing under her breath when she tripped and fell into Adrian’s back as he stepped onto the same fire exit staircase.

The guard grabbed her by the shoulder and held her back. He knew who Keira was, but his employee was the one she’d ’attacked’.

"Keira?" Adrian tapped out his cigarette onto the wall and glared at his guard. "Henderson. Let her go before you lose your hands for touching a royal."

"That won’t happen-"

"Are you sure about that?" Adrian interrupted as his guard, Henderson, instantly released Keira. His tone suggested he’d be the one to chop his guard’s hands off. "I don’t like seeing my friend mishandled."

Although he’d reprimanded his guard, Adrian turned around and began descending the stairs.

"Wait! Adrian!" Keira rushed after him and stopped on the step before him, blocking his exit.

Adrian arched an eyebrow. "What is it, Keira?" He sighed.

"Why did you back down?" Keira stepped closer, searching her friend’s eyes. "You left me with a stranger, Adrian."

"I knew you’d be fine-"

"How?!" Keira demanded. "I thought I could trust you, and you did that. He could have been anyone. So, what made you change your mind about… erm..."

"About?" Adrian smirked teasingly, indeed enjoying watching Keira squirm with the words.

"You know…" She glanced in every direction and not him and dropped her voice to a whisper. "About going somewhere private."

Adrian released a breath. "I can see you didn’t talk much with this stranger…" His eyes roamed over her flushed features. "I can tell when a woman has been… enjoying herself."

Keira inhaled sharply, both embarrassed it was still obvious, and Adrian actually pointed it out instead of answering the question.
