Chapter 566: Chapter 132: Figurine

Ye Jiu’s eyes were wide open, his breath heavy like an old ox that has just plowed the field. His remaining sanity kept telling him that all of this was an illusion, absolutely must not put on the "Slaughter"... As long as he could endure it, everything would return to normal, but once he put on the "Slaughter," there would be no turning back.

However, his remaining sanity was constantly being battered by the murderous intent surging from within, like waves relentlessly washing away the sandcastle on the beach; with every wave, the sandcastle of reason was nearing collapse.

Ye Jiu struggled to move a few steps towards the living room again.

"No... absolutely not..."

His lips had already been bitten to the point of bleeding; he was originally hoping to use the pain to stimulate his gradually fading sanity, but the reality backfired, as the pain and the smell of blood made the illusion of being on a battlefield even more real. Ye Jiu could even hear hoofbeats, shouts of killing, and the dull sound of metal weapons piercing flesh echoing around him.

The things in the room had already begun to distort, vaguely overlapping with the mountain of corpses and sea of blood in Ye Jiu’s mind.

"Pa!" Ye Jiu fiercely slapped his own face, but to no avail.

He felt as if he was slapping someone else’s face, the pain became extremely dull and unreal, as if separated by a thick layer of leather.

"Ugh... damn it..." Ye Jiu used all his strength to hurl himself heavily to the ground.

"Bang!"

A loud crash sounded, his body slammed onto the mattress spread on the floor, causing the empty drink bottles and tape cases thrown beside the mattress to jump up.

"I give up! I give up!" Ye Jiu shouted in his mind, "I don’t want to kill anyone anymore! I won’t resist anymore! Do whatever you want with me! I’m resigned to my fate! Just kill me! Ah! Come on, kill me! Kill me and it’ll all be over! I’m tired, I’m done playing!"

He was shouting as if venting, but in reality, his throat couldn’t produce a complete syllable, only vague hoarse sounds, like an asthma attack.

But surprisingly for Ye Jiu, the murderous intent and sense of crisis that had originally swelled to the extreme actually subsided slightly with his "letting go," allowing human reason to regain control of his body, and the phantoms and blood-red "filters" in his field of view were gradually fading away.

"Hoo... hoo..."

Ye Jiu lay sprawled out on the mattress, gasping for air.

Is this... getting through?

But in the next second, the sound of footsteps in the room made Ye Jiu’s back hair stand on end!

This dorm room was only occupied by him, and he had never told the password of the door lock to anyone else... except for those with the highest authority in the research institute, no one else could enter his dorm room without his permission.

"Who? Who is it?!"

Ye Jiu flipped up like a carp from the mattress.

"Plop. Plop. Plop."

The sound of wooden clogs meeting the floor came from behind, Ye Jiu immediately turned around, only to see a woman in ancient robes, wearing lacquered wooden clogs, slowly walking towards him.

And the most creepy thing was... this ancient costumed woman, she had no head.

The headless woman’s hand held a long sword, and with each step she took towards Ye Jiu, she would draw the sword blade slightly out from its scabbard.

"Specter?!"

Ye Jiu immediately held his breath.

His body almost reflexively sprang out, first sending a flying kick to the chest of the headless woman, then grabbing a nearby kettle and hurling it!

The headless woman staggered backward a couple of steps, but the kettle did not hit her, instead it flew directly over her shoulder, smashing into pieces against the wall behind.

Ye Jiu immediately rushed forward, snatching the long sword from her hand!

With a swift "zing," the sword was drawn from its scabbard, and amidst a flash of sword light, the headless woman’s body was instantly sliced into several segments!

Ye Jiu maintained the sword sheathing motion, standing stiffly there for over ten seconds... he suddenly realized, there wasn’t any headless woman, only the defective Diao Chan figurine he bought for video game cartridges, now dismembered into eight pieces, scattered across the floor.

And what he held in his hand was a Han Eight-direction Sword used for training... this sword was made of polymer materials and wasn’t sharpened, the entirely black blade didn’t even seem capable of reflecting light.

"Just now... was it all an illusion?"

Ye Jiu carefully placed the training sword on the table beside him and bent over to pick up the figurine’s pieces.

The edges of the cut surfaces were smooth and neat, clearly severed with an exceptionally sharp blade... but Ye Jiu had already confirmed that the training sword he had wasn’t sharpened.

"What’s going on here?" Ye Jiu murmured, "Could it be... that something from the hallucination can interfere with reality? Or am I still in an illusion?"

A chill crept up from his tailbone all the way to the back of his neck like a snake.

Ye Jiu shivered involuntarily.

But precisely because of this chill, his mind became much clearer.

He immediately found a spare evidence bag, packed all the figurine fragments inside, thought for a moment, then picked up the training sword beside him.

As he passed through the living room, Ye Jiu cautiously glanced at the box placed on the living room table, but fortunately for him, it wasn’t releasing that terrifying attraction right now.
