I alone am the Honoured One!-Chapter 740: Reclaiming her trueself
Zhao Tian and Zhou Hanyue sat there in a comfortable silence as she rested her head on his shoulder, enjoying the comforting warmth from his body.
Looking at her, he asked in a soft tone "What would you have done if I didn't come at the right time."
Upon hearing this, Zhou Hanyue let out a quiet breath as her fingers absentmindedly traced patterns along the fabric of his sleeve.
A smile graced her lips before she lifted her free hand and a sharp silver dagger materialized between her fingers.
"I would have killed him... and if I failed to kill him, I would just kill myself with it."
With a sigh, he uttered "You are reckless..."
Retracting the dagger back into her storage ring, Zhou Hanyue tilted her head slightly "Was there any other choice?"
"I would rather die than live with him."
She exhaled softly and a small, almost wistful smile formed on her lips.
"That day… when you came to me and said, 'You are my wife…' " she murmured, her eyes distant as if recalling the moment. "I felt a flutter in my heart."
She lifted her gaze to meet his eyes "So I have decided to become your wife. You have to take care of me like a dutiful husband."
Zhao Tian blinked, momentarily taken aback by her words "Mhm, I surely will."
For a while, neither of them spoke.
They simply sat together, fingers entwined, sharing the warmth of each other's presence.
Then, without warning, Zhou Hanyue leaned in slightly and her soft lips pressed against his cheek in a quick kiss.
Zhao Tian stiffened slightly and turned to look at her "Again?"
Zhou Hanyue's smile deepened as she rested her head against his chest "Get used to it, husband."
Meanwhile, Lan Shuqin, standing at a distance, smiled seeing them.
Zhou Hanyue has been hiding her true self and was acting cold till now, distancing herself from everyone because of her curse.
Lan Shuqin's heart ached thinking about how Zhou Hanyue had lived in isolation, bound by the fear that anyone she grew attached to would meet a tragic end.
But now that she knew her curse was not real, her real personality is slowly budding out.
Lan Shuqin knew that this change wouldn't happen overnight.
But Zhou Hanyue is healing.
Slowly, piece by piece, she was reclaiming the parts of herself she had long buried.
A soft exhale left Lan Shuqin's lips "Lady Hanyue's mother will surely be happy if she sees her like this."
"Anyway, let me prepare some tea for them."
...
Dashing through the air, Zhao Tian exhaled a quiet sigh as he looked down at the half-destroyed sect grounds below.
The remnants of destruction lay scattered across the land with the shattered pavilions and broken walls.
Reaching the quarters, he landed on the ground and pushed open the door, entering in.
Feeling his presence, Ji Shuang walked down stairs and looked at Zhao Tian who was walking in through the halls.
She showed a slight smile "Tian..."
"Sect Master."
With a nod, she gestured toward the couch in the spacious hall "Come, sit..."
He sat on the couch as she also took a seat beside him "Why the sudden visit?"
Shaking his head, he replied "Just wanted to meet you..."
"And.. I didn't see you at the funeral this morning, so I was worried."

Oh...
Her gaze flickered downward, as if gathering her thoughts, before she looked back at him. "Zijin just returned with my father… from the Middle Star yesterday."
"So I was busy on that."
Hearing this, Zhao Tian's gaze squinted "I see.. How is he now?"
With a nod, she replied "Yeah, he is doing fine now..."
"That's good to hear..."
Ji Shuang watched Zhao Tian for a moment and tehn as if suddenly realizing something, she tilted her head slightly.
"Tian… have you had breakfast?"
Zhao Tian blinked, as if caught off guard by the simple question.
He opened his mouth to respond but hesitated.
Ji Shuang sighed knowingly "You haven't, have you?"
Zhao Tian let out a small sigh "Yeah..."
Ji Shuang shook her head "I should have expected this," she muttered before standing up.
"Come, eat with me."
She didn't wait for his response and instead made her way to the dining area.
Zhao Tian followed without protest.
Looking at her back, Zhao Tian clutched his forehead lightly.
He is not the only one who lost Yao Jing.
Yao Jing is a little sister for Ji Shuang, so without her, Ji Shuang must be feeling lonely.
That's why he decided to pay her a visit.. to give her some company and maybe reassurance.
By the time they reached the dining hall, a servant had already begun setting the table, placing down simple dishes—warm rice porridge with a drizzle of honey, freshly steamed buns filled with vegetables and meat, and a pot of fragrant tea.
Ji Shuang gestured for him to sit as she poured him a cup of tea.
"You should take better care of yourself, Tian," she uttered, sliding the cup toward him.
Zhao Tian accepted it with a nod "I try," he said, though even he knew it was a weak excuse.
Ji Shuang gave him a pointed look but said nothing more.
Instead, she picked up a steamed bun and took a small bite, chewing slowly.
Zhao Tian followed suit, grabbing a bun and taking a bite.
A comfortable silence settled between them as they ate.
The quiet hum of the wind outside, the soft clinking of porcelain, the faint aroma of tea.
Ji Shuang, usually composed and distant in front of others, seemed at ease in this moment.
She reached for her tea and took a slow sip before glancing at him.
She watched him quietly, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of her teacup.
Though Zhao Tian looked calm on the surface, she knew him well enough to sense the storm beneath.
He was eating, yes, but there was still a shadow in his gaze...
Ji Shuang sighed inwardly "Do you still blame yourself?"
Zhao Tian's hand, which was reaching for another steamed bun, paused briefly before he continued as if he hadn't heard her.
He took a bite, chewed slowly, and then set the bun down "I failed her,"
Ji Shuang frowned "You didn't fail her, Tian. You did everything you could."
His fingers clenched slightly against the table "But it wasn't enough."
She reached across the table as her hand rested over his hand "Do you think Jing'er would want you to sit here, drowning in guilt?"
"She would want you to live," she continued. "To keep moving forward. Not to be trapped in regret."
Zhao Tian just stayed silent and she spoke "By the way, those twins were searching for you..."
Hm?
Hearing this, Zhao Tian raised his head "Sister Xue and Sister Nue?"
Ji Shuang nodded her head "Mhm, disciples of Jing'er..."
"I have already informed them about Jing'er..."
