Chapter 103: The Death of Li Zhengyi
"Wang Bin, what should we do?"
"Let's not rush out yet. Let's hide and see what's going on first!"
"Okay!"
Wang Bin held his rifle, observing the movement of lights outside, while Li Dazhu and the others quietly listened to the footsteps outside, hiding inside the building with their guns ready.
Soon, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed through the building, followed by a chaotic clatter of footsteps.
The person in front, while running, tripped over a corpse on the ground and fell hard. As she tried to get up again, the people behind her caught up.
"Trying to run, are you?"
"Oh, please don't hit me anymore. I'll go back with you!"
Soon, the sound of a man beating a woman echoed through the hallway, with the woman desperately pleading for mercy.
After a while, the man grew tired of hitting her and signaled to the others, and two men stepped forward to drag her away.
"Follow them!"
Wang Bin whispered, leading Li Dazhu and the others to quietly follow behind.
After about ten minutes, the group entered a building.
With his rifle equipped with a night vision scope, Wang Bin could easily see where people were and weren't, following them effortlessly to the fifth floor.
In a large, enclosed room, a roaring fire burned, roasting a wild boar leg. Around the fire, more than twenty people sat or stood, while several others were tied up on the other side of the room.
By the firelight, Wang Bin immediately recognized one of the bound individuals.
"Li Zhengyi!"
"Where is Li Zhengyi?"
"That person in the corner, with both feet cut off and hanging on the wall, is Li Zhengyi!"

"Those beasts!"
"We have to rescue him!"
"Yes, let's go!"
Thanks to his high agility attribute of 80 points, Wang Bin's eyesight was far superior to others, allowing him to clearly see the situation from a distance. Li Dazhu and the others could only make out rough outlines, but even so, they felt that person looked a lot like Li Zhengyi.
The woman who had just tried to escape was thrown in front of the man sitting by the fire, who ignored her and continued roasting the meat.
Fat dripped into the fire, making it blaze even more fiercely.
The woman lay on the ground, her eyes filled with terror as she stared at the wild boar leg roasting over the fire.
At that moment, the man suddenly grabbed her hair, pulling her head close to the golden-brown leg.
"Do you want to become our food too?"
"No, no, Brother Fei, please spare me. I won't dare again!"
"Hmph, you think there'll be a next time? Someone, cut off one of her hands!"
"Yes, Brother Fei!"
Hearing the woman call the man Brother Fei, Officer Miao and Guan Xiaoyue were both startled. They exchanged glances, their eyes red with anger.
"What's wrong?" Wang Bin whispered.
"That man is Brother Fei, the leader of the Flying Eagle Gang!" Officer Miao gritted her teeth.
"What are they doing here?"
"I don't know!"
"No matter how they got here, rescuing people is our priority now. Officer Miao, Xiaoyue, you two handle the enemies near Li Zhengyi. Li Dazhu and I will take care of the rest!"
"Understood!"
A burly man grabbed the woman's hair, dragging her towards the wall where Li Zhengyi and others were hanging, causing her to scream in terror.
Her cries annoyed the man, who stopped to slap her hard twice, making her mouth bleed and silencing her screams.
Soon, the woman was dragged to the wall. Just as the man was about to tie her up, a gunshot rang out, and the man collapsed to the ground.
"Rat-a-tat-tat!"
As soon as the man was shot, a burst of gunfire followed, taking down seven or eight people instantly. The remaining ten or so quickly reacted, either dropping to the ground or finding cover.
But Li Dazhu and the others were excellent marksmen, and with Wang Bin's rifle equipped with a night vision scope, the enemies in the room were quickly eliminated, leaving only two.
"Who are you people? Let me go, and I'll reward you handsomely!" Brother Fei shouted in terror from behind cover.
Wang Bin didn't respond verbally; his answer was a grenade.
Brother Fei and his underling screamed in fear as they rushed out from cover.
As soon as they emerged, the underling was shot dead instantly, while Brother Fei was hit multiple times in the arms and legs, collapsing to the ground.
Earlier, Wang Bin had instructed Li Dazhu and the others not to kill Brother Fei, to leave him alive. Li Dazhu and the others understood Wang Bin's intention and refrained from killing Brother Fei, only shooting his arms and legs.
Seeing Brother Fei fall, Wang Bin immediately rushed to Li Zhengyi, while Li Dazhu kicked Brother Fei's gun aside and stepped on his chest, pointing a gun at his head.
Officer Miao and Guan Xiaoyue followed Wang Bin to rescue Li Zhengyi, quickly reaching him and gently lowering him down.
"Company Commander Li!"
Seeing Li Zhengyi's miserable state, Wang Bin couldn't hold back his tears.
Li Zhengyi's feet had been severed, and he seemed barely conscious, as if he could die at any moment.
Hearing Wang Bin's familiar voice, Li Zhengyi slowly opened his eyes and, seeing Wang Bin and the others, faintly smiled, "You came?"
Wang Bin said painfully, "Yes, we came too late!"
"Why didn't you follow the main force?"
"We weren't in the city at the time. How did you end up here?"
"I got injured during the breakout. When I woke up, the main force and the zombie horde were gone, and then I was captured by them!"
Hearing Li Zhengyi's words, Li Dazhu angrily kicked Brother Fei, dragging him in front of Li Zhengyi.
Seeing Brother Fei, Li Zhengyi's eyes turned red with rage, "Wang Bin, help me kill him. He killed several of my brothers!"
Without waiting for Wang Bin to respond, Li Dazhu, in a fit of anger, grabbed a wooden stick nearby and pierced it through Brother Fei, intending to roast him over the fire.
Wang Bin frowned. Although Brother Fei deserved to die, roasting someone alive seemed too cruel. He quickly stopped Li Dazhu, not wanting his brother to become a sadistic killer.
"Dazhu, stop! Tie his feet with a rope and hang him outside for the zombies to deal with!"
"Alright!"
Li Dazhu agreed, found a rope, tied Brother Fei's feet, and dragged him to the window, tossing him out.
"Thank you!" Seeing Wang Bin and the others avenging him and his comrades, Li Zhengyi smiled brightly.
"No need to thank us. We were late, and I'm sorry!" Wang Bin said, tears streaming down his face.
"No, maybe it was fate! Wang Bin, can you show me the gun technique I taught you one more time?" Li Zhengyi's spirit seemed to lift, though everyone knew it was just a final burst of energy before the end.
"Sure!"
"Please pass on our family's gun technique, thank you!"
"Don't worry, I'll make sure your family's gun technique shines brightly!"
Wang Bin finished speaking, not wanting to waste any more time, knowing Li Zhengyi didn't have much left.
He walked to the fire, took a Red Tassel Spear from the system space, and seeing it, Li Zhengyi's eyes lit up, staring intently at Wang Bin.
Wang Bin took a deep breath, quickly composed himself, and with a flick of the spear, it shot out swiftly.
In the firelight, Wang Bin moved with the agility of a rabbit, and the spear in his hand was like a flood dragon, giving off an invincible aura.
Li Zhengyi hadn't expected Wang Bin to master the gun technique he taught so quickly, feeling both shocked and satisfied. A happy smile spread across his face, knowing his family's legacy would continue.
Before Wang Bin could finish, Li Zhengyi's head tilted, and with a smile on his face, he breathed his last.
