I Am Genie-Chapter 111: Iris Bestows Rewards
If Iris and Michael knew what the knight was thinking right now, she would definitely laugh out loud, and he would get so pissed off.
Michael currently didn't understand why the knight chose him first and not Leo. But whatever, who's first or last doesn't really make much difference.
If he could, he wanted to show off a bit more talent to scare the shit out of that guy who'd been looking down on him all this time.
His ability to use energy wasn't as good as Iris's, but for situations like this, it was still easy.
As soon as he took the paper, it disappeared, and then he immediately transformed. In Master Chef form, his beaten-up face healed way too fast. In just a few seconds, the swelling and bruising went down a lot.
The knight instinctively took a step back. This was the first time he had seen such a weirdly tall, fierce-looking guy, with endless killing intent hidden deep in his eyes.
Slaughter God had killed a lot of energy monsters in his life, most of them dragons. Although he himself carried heavy killing intent, Michael was also a genie, so he wasn't affected and turned into someone who liked killing.
"Oh, come on, is there something surprising?"
A deep, really scary voice sounded in the knight's ear, making him shiver a little. If he didn't have superior strength, he would have actually been scared onto his knees.
"Talent... five stars. Didn't think the young lady's slave would be this impressive."
He swallowed a gulp of saliva. He thought he could give Iris a reason to kick Michael out, but now the plan was all messed up.
Five-star talent was pretty valuable. In remote areas like this, it's extremely rare.
Even if the slave status was a bit of an issue, later when Michael's strength was high enough, even though he was a knight, he wouldn't dare to be disrespectful.
Iris certainly wasn't going to give Michael a chance to get cocky. Anyway, it wasn't often that he got mistaken for her slave.
"What are you standing there dumbly for? You're done awakening him, so go awaken the other one."
The words of a 'great noble' carry more weight. No matter how high your talent, in front of power, you have to take a step back.
Of course, the knight couldn't possibly imagine that the three teenagers in front of him had god-level talent.
Michael was showing off when Iris's words cut him off, which annoyed him a lot. He hadn't had his fun yet and only got to scare the knight for a few seconds before he had to transform back to human form.
When it was Leo's turn, the knight was shocked once again. All three people had five-star talent, and what's more, no one was even surprised, which was the biggest issue.
Such calm expressions clearly came from a place with lots of strong contractors. This kind of talent could only be considered 'normal' in places like the imperial capital or Sun Capital.
"I didn't expect you all to have such extraordinary talent. This makes you worthy of serving this noble young lady."
Of course, the knight didn't forget who the real potential target for flattery was. These two had good talent, but they were still just slaves. No guarantee they'd grow strong. Iris growing strong was a certainty.
More importantly, she was extremely rich and spent money generously. If he said a few pleasing words, he might get an extra reward.
These flattering words sounded a bit different to Iris's ears. At some point, they unknowingly turned into: "Only gods are worthy of serving me."
Thinking that, she smiled, the corners of her mouth reaching up to her ears. This time it wasn't just one gold coin; she directly threw a handful of random jewelry at the knight.
The knight respectfully and hurriedly caught it, then widened his eyes in shock looking at the stuff in his hand. His wife also liked jewelry, so he knew a bit about it.
These gemstones, in such beautifully finished condition, were worth much more than the gold coins from earlier. Although selling them would mean getting lowballed, they were still incredibly valuable.
The knight was a noble, so he couldn't just kneel all over the place. Otherwise, he really wanted to kneel again. This time, he bowed his head deeply to thank her.
"Oh, I have no words left to describe your generosity, my lady. Being granted an audience with you is the greatest luck for those commoners over there. You lot, why aren't you quickly thanking her?"
The more Iris heard flattery like this, the more exhilarated she felt. Leo could be exempt, but if Michael followed the knight and learned how to flatter her, that wouldn't be bad either.
As for the villagers kneeling on the ground, they were completely dumbfounded. They were kneeling before the prestige of Sun God, not her.
Of course, the knight himself didn't dare to say the villagers were kneeling before her. Saying that would be blasphemy. If investigated, it could be a death sentence. But he could subtly imply that being able to kneel before her was their good fortune.
She saw the situation was a bit off. Their weird reaction made her feel kinda awkward. Besides, if this knight also felt awkward, he'd probably beat them up one way or another.
Also, the old village chief had helped her by giving directions. That counted as a merit. Rewarding him with a little something was fine.
She took out a few small gold nuggets and tossed them in front of the village chief. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞
Of course, this way of giving wasn't polite at all. But she was a god. Humans had to be polite to her but she could do whatever she wanted.
Actually, she had thought it through carefully. If she used something too valuable, the knight might get greedy towards them. After she left, he might find a way to rob them.
Rewarding a few small gold nuggets showed she was generous and, at the same time, showed the knight that he was far above these villagers. The greater the status, the greater the reward. That's what's called 'fair'.
"You gave me directions earlier. Your attitude wasn't bad."
The old village chief was stunned; the people around him were all stunned.
"Thank you for your kindness, my lady."
The old village chief, already kneeling, bowed his head to thank Iris, making the scene look like he was prostrating himself before her.
Michael and Leo didn't have much of a reaction. Anyway, giving someone without enough capability a huge sum of money was actually harming them.
Besides, the two of them didn't have much of a relationship with the village chief, just a slight acquaintance.
