Chapter 109: Chapter 109: The Mutant

Mr. Ya watched the silver-trimmed, white-robed bishop and the Black Armored Warrior leave the basement by the stairs, and he let out a sigh of relief.

’If that bishop had come over, I wouldn’t have been able to stay hidden. I’d have had to slip away.’

But then he remembered something, and he grew tense all over again.

’The blasphemer they were talking about... it couldn’t be Su Ze, could it?’

’No, I have to go save him...’ Mr. Ya quickly used Earth Escape and emerged right outside the Temple of Evolution.

Liou Wenxin and the Security Department personnel spotted Mr. Ya from a distance. He gave them a hand signal to advance, then took the lead himself, charging toward the Temple of Evolution.

The Security Department captain immediately gave the order: "Team One, surround the Temple of Evolution! Use the Hundred Knot Net to seal off the area below ground. Team Two, with me!"

Considering that some of the suspects might be proficient in Earth Escape, they had specifically borrowed an artifact from the national treasury capable of sealing off the ground below.

When dealing with a major power like the Evolution Divine Teachings, the Security Department couldn’t afford to be careless. The captain leading the team this time was also a Butterfly Stage expert.

The captain kicked off the ground and flew directly into the Temple of Evolution, his officers following in an orderly formation.

Liou Wenxin brought up the rear.

「Inside the temple.」

After the white-robed cleric hung up the phone, he kept making up excuses to keep Su Ze from leaving. A moment later, the large doors at the back of the temple were pushed open, and the silver-trimmed, white-robed bishop emerged with the Black Armored Warrior.

The silver-trimmed, white-robed bishop looked at Su Ze and asked the Black Armored Warrior behind him with a smile, "Someone has disrespected God. What should be done?"

The Black Armored Warrior replied, "He should be sent to meet God to beg for His forgiveness."

The bishop shook his head. "My Lord is merciful. If this man were one of His followers, he would be granted one chance to repent."

Then, his expression turned grim, his eyes filled with a cold killing intent as he asked, "This God-Favored One... are you willing to become a follower of my Lord?"

Su Ze shook his head and smiled. "I just asked your god a question, but he couldn’t answer. If you, his followers, can answer it for me, then I might consider believing in him."

"What question?" the bishop asked with a frown.

Su Ze said, "I asked him, ’Why am I so handsome?’ He took one look at me, was so ashamed of his own appearance that he cracked on the spot."

The bishop’s eyes turned as cold as ice. "Blasphemer! You deserve death!"

With that, he didn’t order the Black Armored Warrior to attack but struck himself. One of his fingers transformed into a ropelike tendril that extended endlessly, shooting toward Su Ze to bind him.

Su Ze remained motionless, as if prepared to be captured without resistance.

However, just as the tendril was about to ensnare him, a golden cocoon suddenly appeared, enveloping him completely.

Mr. Ya appeared beside Su Ze, having drawn him into the protective confines of his cocoon.

The silver-trimmed, white-robed bishop exerted a bit of pressure and shattered the cocoon, but Su Ze was nowhere inside.

Su Ze and Mr. Ya emerged from a flowerbed outside the temple.

The bishop and the Black Armored Warrior quickly pursued them, but just then, they saw the Security Department personnel charging into the temple behind Su Ze.

The silver-trimmed, white-robed bishop barked, "You trespass in a holy temple and disrespect God! Do you intend to declare war on the Evolution Divine Teachings?"

The Security Department captain wasted no time on words, ordering directly, "Take them down!"

The officers behind him swarmed forward, while the captain engaged the silver-trimmed, white-robed bishop himself. Both were at the Butterfly Stage and of comparable strength, so their fight was a back-and-forth affair.

In contrast, the other officers who ganged up on the Black Armored Warrior were forced into a steady retreat, unable to withstand his assault.

That Black Armored Warrior was a Cocoon Stage expert, but so were some of the officers surrounding him. Yet the warrior’s strength was simply monstrous. His raw power seemed to break through all techniques as he swung his greatsword with unparalleled ferocity.

He seemed to have been enraged, as his skin turned a scalding red and his strength skyrocketed once more.

Furthermore, the black armor he wore had considerable Defense Power. Combined with his height of over two and a half meters, he was like an unstoppable humanoid mecha.

"He’s monstrously strong," Mr. Ya said, a hint of envy in his voice. ’We’re both at the Cocoon Stage, so when will I ever be that ferocious?’

Su Ze nodded. He agreed that the warrior’s strength was excessive; he was practically invincible among those at the same stage.

The last time he’d seen someone so strong was when he’d looked in the mirror.

Liou Wenxin said, "He isn’t an ordinary evolver. He must be a mutant. It seems the Evolution Divine Teachings have made some real breakthroughs in their research."

"A mutant?!" Su Ze exclaimed in surprise.

’Have the Evolution Divine Teachings really found a way to mass-produce mutant evolvers?’

Liou Wenxin nodded slightly. "If I’m not mistaken, he’s a patient with ’Super-Male Syndrome.’ People with this condition are naturally strong and tall, and after he mutated, those traits were amplified."

Seeing the confused looks on Su Ze and Mr. Ya’s faces, Liou Wenxin explained, "Super-Male Syndrome is a male sex chromosome disorder. A normal male’s sex chromosomes are XY, but patients with this syndrome have XYY, an extra Y chromosome. They’re typically tall and naturally strong, but also irritable and quick to anger."

"If the Evolution Divine Teachings can mass-produce mutant evolvers like this, won’t they be invincible?"

Su Ze glanced at Mr. Ya. "Should we go lend a hand?"

"How?" Mr. Ya asked, feeling intimidated as he looked at the Black Armored Warrior, who seemed like a veritable War God.

Su Ze whispered a few words in his ear, and Mr. Ya nodded immediately. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

The next moment, Mr. Ya used Qinggong to carry Su Ze, leaping through the air to land directly in front of the Black Armored Warrior, bringing them face-to-face.

In truth, Su Ze didn’t need Mr. Ya; he could have flown over himself. But he didn’t want to reveal that he possessed a Flying Skill before completing his second evolution.

Su Ze pulled out the Head of the Wailer, aimed it at the Black Armored Warrior’s face, and yelled, "Hey, you! Over here!"

The Black Armored Warrior’s attention was easily captured. He looked up at Su Ze, his gaze meeting that of the Head of the Wailer, and in the next instant, he fell into a stupor.

As a Tier-2 artifact, the Head of the Wailer could normally only disorient Cocoon Stage evolvers. Against someone with a strong mind and resolute will, its effect would only last for a moment.

But it seemed exceptionally effective on the Black Armored Warrior. His eyes glazed over, and his entire body went slack.

The officers, of course, weren’t about to miss such a perfect opportunity. They swarmed in, taking down the Black Armored Warrior and binding him securely.

With the Black Armored Warrior neutralized, the officers were free to easily capture the other white-robed clerics. They then moved to support their captain, joining the siege against the silver-trimmed, white-robed bishop.

Seeing that the situation was under control, Su Ze asked Mr. Ya, "Have you found the children?"

"In the basement. I’ll take you," Mr. Ya said, pulling Su Ze with him as he phased into the ground.

Arriving in the basement, Su Ze saw more than a dozen children locked inside a cage.

Their eyes were vacant, and they showed no expression upon seeing Su Ze and Mr. Ya.

Su Ze smashed the head of the God of Evolution statue in the basement with a single punch. Then, he twisted the iron lock off its hasp and opened the cage door.

After repeated reassurances from Su Ze and Mr. Ya, the children began to file out of the iron cage. Once they were free, a glimmer of life finally returned to their faces.
