I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate-Chapter 46: Evolution Divine Teachings
In the rented apartment, Su Ze, Liou Wenxin, and Mrs. Yun were eating around a table.
Su Ze sighed. "Things are changing too fast. The storm hit before we even had a chance to escape."
News of Feng Bqing’s massacre of the Hunter Squad had only broken yesterday morning. By the afternoon, public outcry was already surging. Information about Feng Bqing’s identity and the so-called "Tainted" was spreading like wildfire online, forcing the governments of Mu Country and Luofan Country to take immediate action.
"Something’s not right about this. Someone is clearly fanning the flames from behind the scenes."
Mrs. Yun snorted coldly. "Who else could it be? It’s obviously that bunch of charlatans playing God!"
Su Ze paused, surprised. "You mean the Evolution Divine Teachings?"
The Evolution Divine Teachings was currently the only legal religion on the Lin Hua Continent. They worshiped the "God of Evolution." Among the six nations of the Lin Hua Continent, all but Luofan Country maintained a neutral stance toward the Evolution Divine Teachings, allowing them to proselytize but offering no policy support.
Luofan Country, however, was a different story. The huge gap between the rich and the poor created a large impoverished population, which made the country fertile ground for religion to take root and flourish.
When people were trapped in a quagmire with no hope in sight, faith became the last ray of light they could cling to in the darkness.
To maintain stability and secure its rule, the Luofan government had hit it off with the Evolution Divine Teachings, implementing many policies that made it convenient for them to spread their faith.
In today’s Luofan Country, the Evolution Divine Teachings was rampant. Even in the filthy, crowded slums, magnificent Temples of Evolution stood tall.
Liou Wenxin spoke up. "Yesterday, all the online talk about the stench of the Tainted kept emphasizing that it was the curse of the God of Evolution, calling the Tainted the ’God-forsaken.’ That’s clearly the rhetoric of the Evolution Divine Teachings."
"What’s their goal in doing this?" Su Ze asked, confused.
"They’re just taking advantage of the situation to create panic and profit from it." Liou Wenxin picked up her phone and showed it to Su Ze. On it was a news article stating that, from yesterday to today, countless citizens of Luofan Country had flooded into the Temples of Evolution to pray to the deity, begging for the God of Evolution’s protection.
To show their sincerity, believers would often carve out a portion of their meager income to donate to the temples.
The news was accompanied by a photo: countless men and women, dressed in rags and sallow-faced from malnutrition, were packed so tightly around a Temple of Evolution that it was completely blocked off.
Su Ze shook his head, at a loss for words.
Mrs. Yun said, "Why don’t we leave today? I have a bad feeling something will happen if we stay any longer.
"Besides, a lot of people are fleeing to other places to take shelter right now. We won’t stand out if we mix in with them."
"But Mrs. Yun, your injuries still need time to heal," Liou Wenxin argued. "I actually think we’re quite safe staying in Mengka City. If Luofan Country sends a Saint-level expert here, it might even be a form of protection for us."
"The ones hunting us are the Filth Earth Organization and Ancient An Country. If there’s a Saint-level expert stationed in Mengka City, I believe both of those factions will have to be more restrained."
Su Ze and Mrs. Yun heard this and thought it made a lot of sense.
Just as Mrs. Yun was hesitating, all three of their phones chimed at once.
Su Ze picked up his phone and saw the headline pushed by his social media app: The Lion Army, led by General Ye Muni, had entered and stationed itself in Mengka City at dawn today.
"The Saint-level expert from Luofan Country is here."
Just as Liou Wenxin finished speaking, she noticed Su Ze’s expression looked off.
"What’s wrong?"
Su Ze took a deep breath and asked, "How many Generals named Ye Muni are there in Luofan Country?"
"I’ve only ever heard of this one. This General Ye Muni is Luofan Country’s newest Saint-level expert. He just completed his fourth evolution a few days ago. He has deep roots in the military, he’s a real powerhouse there, and he’s highly regarded by all sides."
Su Ze gave a dry laugh. "As far as I know, Zhao Yuanyi has a close friend of many years who is also named Ye Muni."
He still remembered Zhao Yuanyi telling him to find General Ye Muni once he reached Luofan Country.
Liou Wenxin shot to her feet. "Hurry up and pack. I hope it’s not too late."

「Mu Country, Qinggu City.」
Zhang Fantie stood respectfully before Zhao Yuanyi, reporting the latest leads from his investigation.
"So, he went to Luofan Country with a woman known as Dr. Liou and a Butterfly Stage expert?"
Zhang Fantie nodded. "Four Hunters have confirmed this."
Zhao Yuanyi’s brow furrowed. Zhang Fantie’s report contained too much information—mentioning a Tier 5 strange object and a Saint-level expert from the Filth Earth Organization made him feel like things were spinning out of control.
He couldn’t quite wrap his head around how a mere Pupa Stage individual could get entangled in such a high-level affair. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
’They were clearly cut from the same cloth, so how come his own son, Zhao Lingxiao, doesn’t have this kind of ability?’
"There’s one more thing," Zhang Fantie said. "By the time I found those four Hunters, people from another faction had already interrogated them. It’s suspected they were from Ancient An Country."
Zhao Yuanyi lit a cigar, took a sharp drag, and ordered, "Have someone look into that Dr. Liou. Also, you take some men to Mengka City and search there. General Ye Muni is overseeing Mengka City now. I’ll give him a heads-up and have him arrange for personnel to assist you."
After Zhang Fantie left, Zhao Yuanyi picked up his phone and dialed an international number.
"Hello, General Ye Muni. This is Zhao Yuanyi. I have a small matter I’d like to trouble you with."
"If you keep talking so formally, I’m hanging up."
Zhao Yuanyi chuckled. "Haha, times have changed. You’re a Saint-level now, your status has skyrocketed. I wouldn’t dare call you ’Little Ni’ anymore."
"Spit it out!"
"Alright, I do have something I need your help with. I’m looking for someone in Luofan Country. He’s most likely in Mengka City, but he might have fled to another city..."

The three of them hastily packed their bags, hastily left, and just as hastily returned.
Getting in was no problem, but now they couldn’t get out!
All the exits of Mengka City had suddenly been placed under martial law. You needed to have your identity verified to leave, and the three of them couldn’t produce a single ID card among them. They had no choice but to turn the car around and come back.
They were trapped in Mengka City!
The first order Ye Muni gave upon arriving in Mengka City wasn’t directed at Feng Bqing in the Black Rock Mountain Range, but was to restrict residents from leaving the city. It was clearly unreasonable.
Su Ze could already sense that Ye Muni’s actions were inextricably linked to his "former dad."
"For now, all we can do is play it by ear and take it one step at a time."
If Mrs. Yun’s strength were restored, the three of them could try to force their way out. But without their Butterfly Stage powerhouse to clear the way, they could only stay cooped up in the rented apartment.
Mrs. Yun said, "Give me another ten days or so, and I should be mostly recovered. I’ll carve a path out for you then!"
Su Ze was doubtful. ’Ye Muni and Zhao Yuanyi will definitely have other tricks up their sleeves. Can we even last that long?’
