Chapter 51: Chapter 51: Encountering Ye Muni

As their car neared the Black Rock Mountain Range, Liou Wenxin saw a group of people in Luofan Country military uniforms blocking the road far ahead.

"They’re here specifically to intercept us."

It was obvious that Zhang Fantie had ordered the Lion Army to set up an encirclement; no matter which way they went, they would be blocked.

"Ram through them!" Mrs. Yun said.

"Alright, hold on tight!"

Su Ze slammed his foot on the gas. Amid the roar of the engine, the car instantly accelerated, charging toward several Lion Army soldiers.

Mrs. Yun rolled down the window, stuck a hand out, and grabbed the roof. Like a weightless shadow, she floated out of the window and sat on top of the car.

Several soldiers drew their guns and fired at their car.

Mrs. Yun grabbed at the empty air, and a ball of electricity appeared in her hand. She pulled it with both hands, stretching the current into a long whip, and lashed it forward.

The whip of condensed electricity cracked through the air with a CRACKLE. Arcs of lightning crisscrossed and weaved an invisible electric net.

All the bullets struck the electric net, creating a harsh scraping sound as sparks flew everywhere.

After passing through the net, the bullets were melted into liquid metal by the terrifyingly high temperature, posing no threat to the car.

In the blink of an eye, the car was upon the soldiers. They scattered in a panic. One failed to dodge in time and was sent flying by the impact, his fate unknown.

After breaking through the defensive line, Su Ze didn’t stop for a moment, continuing to accelerate toward the foot of the Black Rock Mountain Range.

The road ahead disappeared into overgrown weeds, but they just plowed right through.

They drove all the way to the foot of the mountain. Since the car couldn’t go any further, they had to get out and start climbing on foot.

They hadn’t been climbing for long when Liou Wenxin glanced back into the distance and said, "Someone’s coming after us."

"Let’s change direction. We shouldn’t go straight up the mountain," Su Ze suggested.

He gripped a toe bone in his hand and activated the ability of the curio "Traceless Walker." His steps instantly became much lighter, and he left no footprints wherever he passed.

As the only one at the Pupa Stage among the three, Su Ze was the slowest. While Liou Wenxin was terrible at combat, her physical fitness was genuinely at the Cocoon Stage level. Only after activating Traceless Walker could Su Ze barely keep up with her.

Before long, Su Ze saw a military SUV drive up to the foot of the mountain. After the vehicle came to a stop, three people got out... and a dog!

Su Ze immediately recognized Zhang Fantie among the three. One of the other two looked somewhat familiar and was likely one of Zhao Yuanyi’s personal guards. The last person, dressed in a military uniform and holding the dog’s leash, was definitely from the Lion Army.

Liou Wenxin, however, stared at the dog, her expression grim. "That’s a Tier 1 mutated beast, a Wind Spirit Dog. They’re often trained as military dogs. They have a highly developed sense of smell and terrifying tracking abilities."

From their high vantage point, Su Ze’s group could see the situation at the foot of the mountain clearly. But hidden by the forest, Zhang Fantie’s group couldn’t see the three of them on the mountainside.

The military dog sniffed the air and then began barking furiously in the direction Su Ze’s group had taken up the mountain.

The three men and the dog immediately started up the mountain, following the exact route Su Ze’s group had taken.

Seeing this, Mrs. Yun grabbed Su Ze and Liou Wenxin, one in each hand, and took off running. Her speed skyrocketed in an instant. Su Ze felt the wind lashing his face like willow branches, stinging slightly.

But Mrs. Yun hadn’t fully recovered her strength. Burdened with two people, she couldn’t completely shake their pursuers. Instead, the distance between them gradually closed.

Zhang Fantie, thinking the dog was too slow, scooped it up in his arms and continued the chase. He ran whichever way the dog’s head pointed, leaving even his two companions behind.

’Son of a bitch!’

As the two ’dogs’ behind them closed in, Su Ze fumed. ’What kind of person thinks of chasing someone while carrying a dog?’

Mrs. Yun was also fuming, feeling utterly humiliated. It was like a mighty tiger being tormented by a mere mutt.

’If I weren’t injured, I could take on several of these lowlifes at once!’

She wasn’t bluffing. She was also at the Butterfly Stage, but she had absorbed two vials of Tier 4 extract and possessed two Tier 4 skills. Tier 4 skills could also be called Saint-rank skills, and they were immensely powerful.

Zhang Fantie, on the other hand, hadn’t absorbed a single vial of Tier 4 extract. His power was leagues behind Mrs. Yun’s at her peak.

Zhang Fantie finally caught sight of Mrs. Yun. He immediately tossed the dog aside, his speed increased another notch, and he shot straight after her. 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

Mrs. Yun gritted her teeth and sped up again, but with Su Ze and Liou Wenxin as dead weight, the gap continued to close.

’We can’t outrun him. I’ll fight him to the death!’

Mrs. Yun’s explosive temper flared, and she was about to turn and fight for her life. It wasn’t that she couldn’t fight back. Though she hadn’t fully recovered, the quality of her skills completely crushed Zhang Fantie’s. Moreover, she had the Tier 5 curio, the Eye of Dream Weaving, as her trump card.

However, if the fight aggravated her old injuries or she was wounded again, her remaining two months of life would likely be cut even shorter.

And if she used the Eye of Dream Weaving, she would certainly die on the spot.

Su Ze and Liou Wenxin quickly tried to placate her. "Please, calm down! Don’t stoop to a dog’s level."

"If you fight to the death, who will protect us on the way back to the Dongli Kingdom?"

After much persuasion, the two finally talked Mrs. Yun out of her desperate plan.

But just then, Mrs. Yun’s expression suddenly changed. She made an abrupt turn—the kind without braking—and nearly threw Su Ze and Liou Wenxin off.

A hint of joy appeared on Zhang Fantie’s deadpan face behind them. He shouted, "General Ye Muni, please help me capture the three people ahead!"

Su Ze glanced sideways and saw Ye Muni not far from them. With Ye Muni was an old man who radiated a scholarly aura.

The two of them were chasing a shadow.

At Zhang Fantie’s shout, Ye Muni and the old man beside him stopped. The shadow they were chasing also stopped, transforming into a handsome man with a colorful afro, who looked back curiously.

Mrs. Yun was still running, but a wall of fire suddenly blocked her path. Immediately after, two more fire walls rose on her left and right, leaving her with only one way to go: back.

The fire walls were bizarre. They didn’t even burn the fallen leaves on the ground, yet the three of them felt an intense heat, as if the moisture in their bodies was about to evaporate. Any closer and they felt like they would melt.

It was Ye Muni’s doing!

In the face of a Saint-rank expert, any more resistance was meaningless. With an ugly expression, Mrs. Yun put Su Ze and Liou Wenxin down.

"Thank you, General!" Zhang Fantie said his thanks and was about to step forward and seize them.

Beside Ye Muni, the kind-faced old man in a white suit with a scholarly aura looked at Liou Wenxin, a hint of surprise in his voice. "Mr. Liou?"

Liou Wenxin said, "Senior Amida, I am no longer a professor at Ancient University."

Amida turned his head and asked Ye Muni, "General Ye Muni, you intend to arrest them?"

Ye Muni’s expression shifted slightly. He said, "Dean, the young man among them is a murderer who smuggled himself here from the Mu Country. I was entrusted with the task of bringing him to justice. As for the two ladies, they are not on my arrest list."
