I am the Entertainment Tycoon-Chapter 948: Following the Spiral Paths
Theo and his friends had a hearty and filling lunch, but after an hour had passed, they had to return to their search for mystery clues. After all, they were running against time to solve this mystery.
But this time, their searching team was bigger as Shizuka, June, Kumiko, and Grandma Iko had finished their task on the inn's second floor. So, they were free to search through the Fibonacci spiral directions they were going through.
They had already searched through the ground floor and half of the first floor. They needed to search through the other half of the first floor and the whole second floor of the inn.
The group took pictures and notes of everything as they searched through the spiral paths. Their first objective was to note down any suspicious points in these spiral paths. The second objective was to gather enough pictures of these spiral paths, so they could search for clues and compare them with the other clues they had.
Saturday, 3:05 PM.
4 hours before Nightfall.
The air in the inn, usually filled with the murmur of patrons and the clinking of mugs, now held a hushed intensity. The newly expanded search party, a carefully assembled team of individuals with diverse skills, dispersed like a well-orchestrated symphony. Their footsteps, a soft rhythm, echoed on the polished wooden floors, each sound amplified in the sudden quiet.
Theo found himself drawn to a particularly intricate wooden carving. It graced the balcony's ceiling of the first floor, which intersected the spiral path; it was a knot of vines and mythical creatures intertwined that extended throughout the balcony extension. His brow furrowed in deep concentration, as if the answer they sought lay hidden within the very grain of the wood.
"Anything, Theo?" Aurora, his sister, her voice a low murmur, called out from her position. She was meticulously scanning the wallpaper, her slender fingers tracing faint lines that might betray hidden compartments, a forgotten switch, or a cleverly disguised seam.
Theo, without looking up, replied, "This carving… it feels significant. The way the vines twist is almost like a coded message. Plus, it seems like there are a few places in the carving that the 'vine' is loose enough to let light pass through the carving."
(The wooden carving had holes in it.)
"Look here and here." Theo pointed, "I was just thinking about Woodwright's second poem where he says 'To see through...'"
Meanwhile, June, her camera lens a focused extension of her keen observation, meticulously captured detailed shots of the worn floorboards. She was searching for subtle scuff marks, displaced dust, or any anomaly that might indicate a recent disturbance or a hidden passage. "The floor here shows signs of being recently disturbed in a few spots, but nothing concrete yet," she reported, her voice crisp and professional.
On the other side, Kumiko and Gwen, working in perfect tandem, their movements synchronized with a practiced efficiency, documented the ornate carvings on the banisters. Their cameras clicked softly, capturing every detail of the elaborate designs. "These banisters are stunning," Kumiko observed, her voice full of admiration. "But there's a recurring motif here… a small, almost imperceptible symbol that keeps appearing." 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
Gwen nodded, her gaze sharp. "Yes, I'm seeing it too. It's subtle, almost like a maker's mark, but it's not on every carved section. That's peculiar."
The rest of the team fanned out, their movements synchronized, each member embodying a singular focus. The three sisters Ayia, Shizuka, and Kaori, with their notoriously sharp eyes, analyzed everything that intersected with the spiral paths. They were the detail-oriented observers, the ones who could spot a misplaced thread or a faint scratch from across a room.
"Shizuka, this newel post here," Ayia whispered, pointing. "The wood grain doesn't match the rest of the staircase. It looks like a more recent addition."
Shizuka leaned in, her eyes narrowed. "You're right. And look at the dust accumulation around its base. It's far less than on the original parts. Good catch, Ayia."
Ryoko, with her keen artistic sense and a mind that saw the world in hues and textures, analyzed some wooden murals that intersected with the spiral path. She was looking for more than just images; she was searching for hidden meanings, symbolic representations, or subtle alterations that might hint at a secret. "These murals are beautiful," Ryoko mused, her voice soft. "But there's a deliberate disruption in the composition of this scene here, near the third landing. A part of the background seems intentionally darkened, almost as if something was meant to be obscured."
Watching over them all, a steady anchor of quiet wisdom, was Grandma Iko. Her presence was a comforting force, and she offered gentle guidance when needed, her words often laced with a lifetime of experience. "Remember to trust your instincts, my dears," she said softly, her voice carrying through the hushed space. "Sometimes the smallest detail is the most important one."
Each member, from the youngest to the most seasoned, approached their assigned segments of the spiral path with a singular, unwavering focus. Max and Kin meticulously documented every nook and cranny. Sayuri and Shoko, their notebooks filling with observations, ensured nothing was overlooked. Even Lauren, typically known for her quiet demeanor, was meticulously checking the structural integrity of the banisters, her gaze sharp and focused. They were capturing images, making notes, and piecing together a puzzle, searching for any element that seemed out of place, anything that might betray the secret they were so determined to uncover.
As they navigated the increasingly complex Fibonacci spiral paths, the group encountered various architectural features that demanded their attention. In one section of the first floor, a series of alcoves lined the corridor, each containing a different antique object. Theo paused to photograph a tarnished silver locket, while Ayia focused on a faded velvet box. Shizuka, ever observant, pointed out a loose brick in the fireplace, and Kaori meticulously sketched its surroundings. The team worked methodically, ensuring no detail was overlooked. Even the seemingly mundane aspects of the inn, like the dust motes dancing in the shafts of light or the faint scent of aged wood, were duly recorded in their notes. The process was a deliberate one, each photograph and annotation a building block in their larger endeavor.
The search continued with unwavering diligence. On the second floor, now fully accessible to the expanded team, the spiral path led them through dimly lit corridors and past numerous closed doors. The search on this floor was more complicated due to its pyramidal shape. The group had to apply the spiral paths on this pyramid, but some of them were good at math, so after calculating the paths on this pyramid following the scales and directions they had, they found the places where they had to search. Theo, coordinating efforts, ensured that everyone searched through all places where the spiral paths intersected within the inn. The sheer volume of visual data being collected was immense, each image a potential key, each note a whispered clue. The air, once filled with the anticipation of a hearty lunch, now thrummed with a focused intensity, the ticking clock of impending nightfall a silent motivator as they pressed on.
